  • I never did care for the style of this house. I do think it is terrible that it was vandalized and left to rot. I guess they had to tear it down.

I wonder why people go into places like this and destroy them. I really do.

  • I remember the place as a kid..It was in The Wis Dells..I remeber thinking how cool it would be to have a house like that...It looks like crack heads and bums destroyed the place...how sad....it was pretty retro cool back in the day...very sad looking now..thanks for the video though

  • THis place is wonderful and upsetting. Someone, took their time to create this, only to be trashed. I'm guessing they didn't have kids or someone to pass it along too.

  • as soon as i saw the title, rush's xanadu came on in my head haha, this place is very interesting and cool

  • Thanks for posting this, I went to the house several times as a little kid and only have a few blurry memories of the place. Too bad it's gone, but its design definitely isn't as amazing as I remember it. Its really funny that you got a cell phone call in the middle of your walkthrough- the future is finally here, but xanadu isn't...

  • Well Retro, I appreciate the look. I lived here all my life and remembered when it opened.. Never went in and thank goodness I didn't. Really did not have too much to offer for it's time in my opinion. Epcot was a greater competitor!

  • Great video. I am interested in building such a house for the 21st century. Where can I obtain the floor plans for these Xanadu homes?

  • Less than a minute in and I can tell this UE is going to be EPIC!

  • Wow,,,, I went there when I was a kid. The place was still "newish". Its very surreal seeing it in this condition. Not quite what I remember.

  • That looked like an awesome house during it's heyday. So sad to see it deteriate.

  • I think it would be pretty awesome to just go in, fix everything up, and just... I dunno. ...Nah, I dunno.

  • @WishesSetFree Sorry its gone they tore it down

  • @WishesSetFree Sorry its gone they tore it down

  • i thought it was closed down due to asbestis [sp?] So it couldnt be used for anything

  • thats crazy there is a house next door out the patio door. You can see and hear the kids. Shoot they can see the place from there yard.

  • ive been on holiday to florida a couple of times and driven past this, correct me if im wrong. is this also the place that jacque fresco from the venus project created?

  • I'd be taking some of the furniture if I was there. Anything that was intact and in what-so-ever condition.

  • no way i'd be sleeping in there on that disgusting mattress!

  • Seems to me someone could've used the bulding for SOMETHING..how wild would it have been to have, for instance, an office in there? FLA..you missed a golden oppertunity.

  • @wsbtam It was it was a Time Share office for a bit, and a tourust free vacation scam place as well.

  • Wow!

Your commentary is excellent. You explained every freaky room.

  • surprising that there are no homeless people living there.

  • @masonkim7 Actually there were, I ran into a group when I went there late in the day. I went in one way, listen to when my nextel phone went off they thought I was cop, and took off the other way.

  • They could've made money, charging people to get into the Abandoned House of the Future

  • Wow what a wonderful treasure destroyed. Very Sad to see a great part of our history just thrown away. What a waste. Thanks for the Video!

  • Thanks for posting this...I had planned on making the trip down one weekend, and found out that it had been torn down exactly two weeks beforehand. Glad to see someone got footage first!

  • This one was in Kissimmee Florida about 15 minutes from Disney World. It stayed open longer than the others closing around 1986, finally demolished in 2005.

  • @RetroVintageTreasure Why was it abandoned?

  • @MrSPFB It went belly-up in 97 they never upgraded it, and the technology was way outdated, plus the house was in a state of disrepair, so the people stopped comming. The architech Roy Mason was killed in 1995, so I guess they just decided to let it go. When it came out in the 80's it was somthing, if they would have upgraded it I'm sure it would still be around. Taken down in 2005 for the value of the land and soon to be a time share condo, then the real estate drop even killed that idea.

  • This is absolutely Great seeing this! Where was this one at? I went to the one in Wisc. dells when I was a kid. I loved it back then and is a memory that I will never forget. To this day, I will tell my kids about it. Now I can show them your video instead of trying to explain it. Thank you for posting it!!!
