If you're doing in from the drivers side then they think that you won't be an idiot and open the door while you're driving. (not saying that you're stupid in anyway just saying it in general) It also does that because it's annoying having to hit the unlock button every time to open the door. Plus, most cars open from the inside when they are locked anyway.

@TheGhostSaint Honda crv is a compact crossover(station wagon). which is built on a car platform combining SUV features. SUV's are built on light truck chassis. So honda crv is not a suv.
