The only reason these dancers need to show so much skin is because they need it to stick to the pole and that is all. If everybody tried pole dancing they would understand how physically hard it is...I believe that some of these dancers deserve the olympics more than some of the olympians out there. @neecierules What is with you stuck-up "pole fitness" people and your need to distance yourselves from exotic dance? It is EXTREMELY insulting that you think of yourselves as "better" than ACTUAL exotic dancers who may actually know a lot more about dance than you do. Our pole dance looks organic and beautiful, not robotic and choreographed. Don't be pissed because your sport is rooted in the adult industry (that IS where it came from - know your history). You people are classist snobs.

@kumasdaisy Exotic dance. AKA gyrating in front of strange men for $. For your information, pole dancing did NOT originate in strip clubs. That's a fact. Its roots originated some hundred years ago in Chinese Pole and Mallakhamb (Indian Pole). It only became more known in the US in the 1920's in circus acts,& was only until the late 80's that pole dancing became involved with strip clubs. So you are wrong. Search Jenyne Butterfly, a pole dancing champ who is NOT robotic but a beautiful dancer.

@assiracrose Have you ever even BEEN to a respectable, clean strip club? You clearly don't know what you're talking about if you think it's "gyrating in front of strange men for $." There's much more to it than that. And the version of "pole fitness" that is taught now in studios came from exotic dance, which is just as much of a legitimate art form as this technical business. Just because it's sexual doesn't mean it's not art, and to think that the two are mutually excl. is backward thinking.

Know YOUR history and don't get pissed that pole dancing for fitness is slowly becoming more and more recognized as a reputable form of exercise and a beautiful art form. There is a reason why there are no 'exotic dance championships'. They are not the same thing.

If you need to see the real athletes watch the sport & fitness world pole dance competition, not some stripper at a club bouncing her goodies. In competitive attire like the gymnasts we have now and the sexuality taken out, the vertical bar will prove to be an exciting and challenging event.

You brought the strip club to YOUR "fitness studio" . I am a professional by trade and I understand incorporating todays trends into your business, but you're bottom feeding. When you dance on a pole in a club you are SELLING THE IMAGE of seeing a scantly clad body hump gyrate and hang from a pole and you get paid for it. Thats selling your body.
