i really want this song at my funeral. i listened to this and i thought, RIP Jim, you brought so much laughter to the world, and i hope now to the angels. Jim Henson was amazing
Ok that has ALWAYS AMAZED ME in 1:14, seeing a muppet riding a bike on its own, I mean it could be explained today how it was done, but that was really amazing
Everytime I hear this song I saw I'm not going to cry thist time, and by the time i get to Fozzie's part i'm bawling.. You have to have a heart of stone if this doesn't get to you. :(
We had to put down my dog on monday. I posted this song on facebook in her memory. Indie was such a great dog. She lived for 14 years. She was a fighter she survied getting hit by 2 cars when she was younger. She was a lover, she would come put her head in my lap or lick my hand when i was crying. Now she is gone. She got sick, she was not getting better. We had to do it, but that dosen't make me miss her less. I love you Indie, goodbye i hope i can see you again one day
I remember seeing this in the theater. They even had books with the story, pictures and movie credits (the minister that marries Piggy and Kermit is a minister in real life - they got MARRIED). This song tore me up, then. Now, I'm moving from a place I love. This was the first song I thought of. Thank you, Mr. Henson, for giving us The Muppets.
Among all the scenes in movies I recall watching as a child this particular one is probably one of my most revered. I'm not sure really how old I was when I first saw it, however, it still brings a tear to my eye. One thing is for sure, they don't make family/childrens movies like they used to. Anyone that criticizes this scene has serious issues in my opinion. I Miss Jim Henson a lot, for he was one of the world's greatest. We are definitely poorer for having lost him so soon.
@mike10241981 I could not agree with you more. I'm a guy who's almost 22 and when I saw this recently I got choked up. I wish I could've been around in the Jim Henson era of the Muppets but I was only 1 when he died.
I was gonna be a prick and thumbs down this, just so I could be the 1st. But at :50 I couldnt do it. Damn you Scooter Muppet. Your sweet sweet voice gets me everytime!
@invalidcookie well Kermit rode a bike in The Muppet Movie. I think the puppet was somehow attached to the bike and they had a special device that could pull up the pedals, and something else pulling the bike forward to give it the illusion that Kermit was "riding." They may not have had a huge advanced way of doing it back in 1978 when they shot it, but I bet it would be a lot harder to do it back then, unlike today when it's done with computer effects. -_-
because back in the day... when i watched this in the theater...(as a child) you had to MAKE movie magic. Anyone can do it now. That's what made this special.
Jim Henson and Sammy Davis Jr passed away on the same day, ABC News did a dual tribute to both legends with Saying Goodbye. I cried watching that, now when I hear the song i think of it, and still have tears
I met my best friend Eric in January 2008 when I was in community college. We were, and still are just like brothers. We laugh, we fight, we make fun of each other sometimes... Everything. When, and if he ever moves away, I'm gonna play this song... We'll probably both be absolute wrecks! :..-)
As a 21 year old guy (born 1989 NOT 1992) this did make me choke up. Very sad . . . it's just the tune and the words that are sad. Thanks for posting, this is one of my favorite Muppet movies.
@italianman1992 I don't blame you my friend I actually never cried when I heard this song as a child However as a grown man I almost feel like sheading a tear because this song reminds me of how I miss my old friends from College
@SAJ0129: Agreed. The symbolism of this--in knowing of Jim Henson's passing (along with Don Salin, Richard Hunt, Jerry Juhl, et al)--is endearing, heartfelt, and gut-wrenching. "You're in my heart so until then, it's time for saying goodbye."
Can you tell me how to get to Sesame Street (Queens, New York)
This is what we call The Muppet Show (London, England)
Muppet Babies; we make your dreams come true (AKOM/Toei Japanimation)
Dance your cares away...Down at Fraggle Rock (Toronto, Canada)
2:20 Aw, no Fozzie Bear! Don't cry! You'll all be back together by the end credits, you'll see. Cheer up pal. H-Hay I know, why don't you tell us your new jokes?
@eliud82 Coincidentally my parents got the tape to this movie right around the same time that they moved from Massachusetts to Maryland even a few years after the song still sometimes made my mom cry remembering her old friends back from old neighborhood.
@1985Nebraska: Me too. Outside of Muppet Family Christmas--which brings together Sesame Street, The Muppets (The Muppet Show, Muppets Tonight, & Muppet Babies), and Fraggle Rock during the most joyous time of the year--this movie was the finale of The Muppets origiinally, with Jim Henson passing on and the pig & frog tying the knot for all time.
This song is so sad...even when I'm watching the movie. Its kinda weird how even Muppets have experienced the pain of leaving people you love behind...
So on this one they have to raise like 200 dollars but on the new one they have to rais a million dollars?

Since I've seen this Muppet movie the most of all the Muppet movies, I consider this one my true favorite.
