  • Parked between the rock and the hard place?! Thanks Sue, lovely to hear from you.

  • HI !!!

loved it! cool to see you again, mark.

    xo

  • Thanks Braz! All the best, Mark.

  • mark...your home is a living art installation!

and you're looking very very well...thats what you get for not being glued to a computer screen,as i have been, all summer long,i'm ashamed to say.

  • ... past the equinox now, as the nights close in glowing screens grow ever more alluring to me. Been a good summer here, all in all. I love the sunny days. Most of my fossiling is done by the sea, which prompted me to gather the seascape paintings from local charity shops, as context for the rocks, to sustain a mood. I am a lover of beauty, which is why I am drawn to what you so generously share of yourself. Thanks for all mary, your light burns bright!

  • This is much nicer than where I live -- which is littered with empty bourbon bottles and unpaid bills :P (hey was that a bearded dragon in the tank?)

  • Just a dried up lizard I found under the boiler when we moved in, and a similarly dessicated newt, I'm afraid... I always have had a surreal tendency... thank Dali for that! Cheers David, I raise my glass to you.

  • "Welcome to my Mind" would be more like it! ...Hey, there's lots of energy flowing out of those old things Mark!!

    (you included! ..Haha!!)

  • I like a person who says what they mean - even at my own expense - which must mean I like you! Cheers Hellishcrusade.

  • Mmm...did I ever tell you I'd done a thesis on the articulation of grammar? - "Tis not what one says, rather it is what could have been said, but is not"!!

Haha!! ...typical bloody poet...of which I myself am one too, ok, I admit.

Conciseness is an art...of which you are a master, my friend!

  • Hi~~ see you again here in youtube^^~~

Your collections are amazing. This is your beautiful garden and each of your collections has it own story. I believe: they bring you good memories ...

Thanks for your sharing ~ Enjoy everyday and keep smiling ^^~~

  • Hi yipyip. Good memories, yes. Also, I am simply fascinated with the way that fossils represent such ancient life, continuity into the present, promise of a future - however strange and different that may be! The time scales are almost mind-boggling: there is little I like more than having my mind boggled! The paintings are a daily reminder of how fantastic, creative, people can be. Again, simply, they bring beauty into my life. Lovely to hear from you, and best wishes, Mark.

  • Good vlog Mark its nice to find out more about you.

    Take care bud.

  • Cheers Kel, thank you.

  • hey again mate, great room - wonderful collection, you must be so proud:-)

  • Not so much pride as good fortune, lucky to have put it together over the years. Thanks for calling by!

  • Cheers, Mark. And thank you for your kind comments, always.

    Roy

  • Good to hear from you Roy. I see you have a new poem too, I'll have a listen soon. All the best, Mark.

  • Great to see you again, I was wondering where you were, obviously out collecting bits. That is a great room and one grown up over time, nice and light too. Thanks for sharing it.

  • ... opens onto the garden, little more than a roof between three outside walls really, with curved glass panels from an old revolving door forming the forth wall. My favourite place here really. Cheers Andrew.

  • back at you my friend.

    Paul

  • Cheers Paul, thanks for that.

  • Nice curioarium slash sculpturegarden. (yes I made up that word.

Nice space. I'd feel right at home there.

  • Curioarium is what it is then! Thanks Puppy

  • great room!

  • Full of bits! Cheers Clay.

  • Wow. That is a cool room you have there. =) Thanks for sharing

  • Cheers oz, I've enjoyed putting it together. Good to hear from you.

  • This has gotta be the only video on Youtube with a close up of ancient dinosaur faeces.

    You rock.

  • ... the dinosaur poo rocks!

  • You are one cool guy. Your like a retired hippy.

  • ...retired? ...the original hippypunk?!

  • Ha. I'd always had you pegged as 'hippypunk' myself. A kind of chilled out John Cooper Clarke, lol.

Enjoyed this video, & totally understood the sentiment. What a good idea. My writing has turned to the short story form recently; doesn't really work for youtube though!

  • Glad this has triggered a response - it's good to catch up with people. I was 17, living in a squat, punk dressed, when an old guy said it was good to see that the hippy ways lived on. I made the word up then, it has somehow stuck with me!

I wonder whether you will find a way to publish your stories, or if simply writing them is enough for you? Do you have a blogspot account? It would be good to read them there, if it doesn't disqualify you from publishing elsewhere. All the best, regardless.

  • It's good of you to care about everyone.

    Thanks

    Jamie

  • Cheers Jamie. I'm really in the early days of meeting and exchanging with people online. It's hard to keep perspective sometimes, the time spent on the computer has to come from somewhere. Above all, though, it is a treat and a privilege to engage with people in this global community. My life is better for the online friends I have made. Certainly, my writing has developed, listening to the poetry of other people, hearing their comment on mine.

Anyway, almost out of 'characters' ...

  • Utterly Charming ! ( not the least of which was hearing your incomparably wonderful accent .)

You fabulous collections bring to mind the dictum of William Morris: "Have nothing in your home that you do not know to be useful or believe to be beautiful ."

A 400 million year old fossil ? !!! But Sarah Palin said that God created the world 20,000 years ago ! Could she POSSIBLY be wrong ??? !!!!!

    Thanks for the tour !!!

  • Funny, half way down a cliff, way below the level of the glacial gravel deposits, digging bones of crocodile and dinosaur from their matrix, it occurred to me that it must all be the work of the devil, setting out to confuse my mind...

  • Loved the tour. Interesting collections. Thank you for everything you do.

  • Delighted, thanks Ida

  • That's an impressive collection you have there!

  • Most of it is in boxes, or the garden. Fossiling is something I find addictive! I always get a buzz when I find something. Trouble is, I can't resist picking them up/chipping them out, so I end up with more and more, however many I give away. They are beautiful, resonant things to live with. Cheers VisionGhost, thanks for calling by.

  • So glad you are back to say Hi...nice space you got there. Do you paint?

Would have loved to see more of your paintings. Welcome back, dashpoet.

  • Hi ladyofire, I wish I could, although I do dabble. The paintings here were all bought for a few pounds, from charity shops and junk shops, or given by the artist. They are a pleasure for me: regardless of the quality of the work, they all have something of the spirit of the artist, the place they represent. (The photos are mine.) Good to hear from you again, thanks for dropping by.

  • Poop is still poop no matter how old it is LOL :P *****stars; )

  • ... still feels a bit strange to pick up, even when it is 120,000,000 years old and turned to stone... it still looks like a turd! Good to hear from you Kabuki, cheers.

  • very interesting mark. coprolites, hahaha. Where do you go fossil hunting??

  • Hi Antares. Mostly locally, including 'Copperas Bay', where for years tons of pyrite nodules were collected to be processed for use in dying and ink making. There are all sorts of other fossils in the mix tumbling from the crumbling cliffs and washed from the seabed clays along the coast. The oldest fossils are marine, sharks teeth mostly, from about 50,000,000 years ago. For cretaceous, 120,000,000 years old, including dinosaur bones/teeth/coprolites/etc, I head for the Isle of Wight and hope.

  • I really enjoyed this video

its a nice warm place. hey, Mark, have you got even a spare bed for me.

    all the best

    Kean

  • Beds are full of family... there's usually a sofa though! Thanks for your good will, Mark.

  • *huge grin* Thanks for letting us peek into your place! Love it! Wow@the rocks, you have some truly excellent specimens!!!

  • I just can't help picking them up! I do, I confess, put myself in places where I might find fossils, as often as I can. Thanks longhaired, you are welcome.

  • Interesting selection of gubbins and paraphernalia. I've just lightened the load considerably having moved. I'd stay put if I were you. It's good to see yome of your 'space'. :)

  • 'some' My typing is creating a new lanuguage, so dreadful is it.

  • Love the use of the apostrophes! Space indeed, a lovely bright room to be in. (Last time I moved I think I carried half a ton of rock with me!)

  • Thank you for the look about, Mark! It is charming to see you just being you rather than have you officiating from dashpoet's corner -- :)

  • Officiating, oh dear, that sounds rather serious. I guess much of my subject matter is, though, so fair comment I guess! I'm glad I recorded this, by way of conversation. Thanks for joining me Liz, cheers for now, Mark.

  • Sorry, Mark, my keyboard doesn't have a tongue in cheek key -- I was limping toward humor there -- I should have added my "official" hahahaha at the end!

  • Same keyboard as mine - must be a duff batch!
