  • he sounds drunk

  • thats my gym :D

  • im 18 and this man has more hair than me

  • There is harm big time harm due to age difference

  • Man is he high?

  • The damage this man has is to the speech centers of his brain. He can fight but it could kill him.

  • Still a beast!

  • At least he won't need a gum shield

  • hmm, why not? last time I checked roberto duran was still fighting, at the tender age of 62!!

  • Man I hope u make it

  • He'll never get a title shot and he doesn't deserve one unless he beats a couple contenders. That being said, there's nothing wrong with him fighting at that age if that's what he wants to do. And everything he said is true about TRYING. Good luck, Mamby!

  • he can easily pass for 45 good luck ma nigga as Vince McMahon would say!

  • He is correct , i'm not a shouldhavecouldhavewouldhave - i tried and lost in life but i know that i tried and i am still prowd

  • he actually lost by Unanimous Decision

  • april fools?

  • I remember watching Saoul Mamby fight when I was a kid. He was an excellent boxer and was even a Vietnam vet. Sadly, it sounds like he's slurring now. He shouldn't be fighting anymore. He's always had a good head on his shoulders. I hope he'll pass his knowledge of boxing on by training younger fighters. God bless him.

  • lol he looks like old Eazy E

  • @zigmund59 lol he does!

  • I trained with this guy twenty years ago at the Times Square gym and he has always been in fantastic shape. I never reached the big time, so I doubt he remembers me, but he was always a nice guy and he helped me with my footwork. Best of luck to you, Saoul. And don't forget your green tea.

  • thats great but losing is not the way to get a title shot

  • black guy pride

  • He looks in great shape. In my opinion that is all the more reason to NOT fight & continue to enjoy his good health.

  • "No harm in trying"... Nope, man: in boxing there IS harm in trying.

  • @ezekielwahwah honestly lol

  • you cant win if you dont try

  • you can't get punchdrunk if you don't take continues punches to the head. He's brain damaged and getting hit in the head is only gonna make it worse. Why do you think he sounds drunk while he's in the training camp? do you really think he drinks while training or is it possible that boxing has hurt him and will continue to do so if he doesn't stop?

  • 60? He looks 41!

  • sports

  • @samluke8121 41? i was gonna say closer to 42 and a half... haha

  • Wow that is constitution! Most 60 yr olds shit in a bag and cant get out of bed but this guy keeps tickin over like a clasic car!

  • well thats a bit extream...most 60 year olds dont shit in a bag..and most can get out of bed...but he is impressive..having said that..im sure he would get crushed by anyone even semi decent.

  • KEEP GOING!!!!

  • wtf more like 40 from a distance he looks 30ish

  • wtf you can't lose a draw

  • you can't win one either and if you don't win you lose.

  • I was thinking the same thing.

  • At 1:53 the announcer says "...when he last a ten-round draw..." Isn't a draw different from winning and losing?

  • wtf ???? he looks good for someone who is 60 !!!!!

  • good for him

doing it for us ex boxer :)

i hope he wins if he fights

  • he's looking to get a title shot at 60? i don't care how ridiculous it sounds, there's nothing more unbelievable that he is 60 and he looks like this. f*n great shape indeed.

  • hes in fuckin great shape for 60

  • hes gd but his sluring is 2 bad hes probs taken loadsa shotz to the head and a cuple more and its good by boxing dave for life

  • the slurring is a dead giveaway. a few more shots to the head and he's a vegetable.

  • How do you "lose" a 10 round draw?

  • you lose it if the other guy is the champ.

  • No you don't. You just don't get the title. Besides, the draw they were talking about here wasn't against a champ.

  • He fought some accomplished fighters but never the best in the world.

Fought with James Mcgirt and Ronnie Shields two notable names.

  • Are you kidding man? Saoul Mamby fought some of the greatest fighters EVER?! He's fought a who's who of greats and all the best of his time! Apart from McGirt and Shields, he fought Roberto Duran, Antonio Cervantes, Esteban DeJesus, Saengsak Muangsurin, Leroy Haley, Sang Hyun Kim, Billy Costello, Rene Arredondo, Jorge Vaca, Maurice Blocker, Javier Castillejo, Genaro Leon, Charlie Brown, Gary Hinton, Larry Barnes, and on and on and on. All of those guys are genuinely great champions.

  • I stand correctly. I'm only 16, I don't know a ton about Saoul Mamby, I was speaking of ignorance. So I apologize.

  • No man, that's cool. I wasn't trying to be harsh or anything you know. The fact is that very few people today know much about Mamby apart from the hardcore boxing types, and even then a lot of them only know him as the guy who fought in more eras than any other fighter in history, but he was a really great fighter in his prime who held a title and beat some great fighters, apart from fighting some of the best ever. Amazing accomplishment, though he should stop fighting now.

  • I agree with you. Mamby was a dynamite fighter but at the age of 60 I don't think he's gonna last too many rounds fighting these younger champions. The caliber of opposition jumps up as soon as you start fighting boxers in the top ten of any respective weight class. I guess time will tell.

  • he doesnt look 60 physically but he shouldnt be fighting ,obviously hes not going to win anything or make money from it.His voice is very slurred sounding but could be natural.

  • Sounds like he's getting what Ali got, Parkinsons. He should just train and maybe spar but no way get in the ring with a young boxer who may seriously damage him.

  • @strongbowist it's possible, but if you watch recent clips of Frazier, he doesn't exactly sound "all together" either. I have great respect for Frazier and I'm not trying to be offensive, but it could just be that both of these men simply took a few too many blows to the head.

  • Nice to see a kid who has honor and respect and can show humility when required. So rare. Don't lose that.

    Thumbs up bruddah.

  • Thanks man I appreciate those kind words.

  • @10splayer - what a good sport you are. Rare on YouTube!

  • @PhantomUAV Thanks, yeah it's been awhile since then, it might sound cheesy but I grew from that experience.

  • wow this guy is a good role model

  • how? he is past it. he would probily get seriously injured.

  • no boxer wants to fight an 60 yr man.

  • this guy should be encouraged to teach boxing to young people, but at 60 he is about 30 years to old to win any titles.

  • try fifteen years, look at archie moore, george foreman and bernard hopkins. Joe calzaghe won the light heavyweight crown at 36

  • he means average smart arse

  • suicide!!

  • he was a very good fighter in the early 80's but was never the best in the world...it was aaron pryor at that time. funny thing is...i remember reading a interview in ko magazine around 1982 and he said he only wanted to fight for two or three more years! lol

  • this man is vietnam veteran.

    what a warrior soldier

  • 2 words, punch drunk.

  • In his first comeback fight he lost he lost to a guy thats 6-25-1

  • i think this old man is gaga already, thats why i wants to fight with 20 year old guys. he cant win a fight no more, not against trained young guys at least, pleasse dont let him.

  • Duh - the guy has seriously slurred speech. HE IS PUNCHY as hell. Why don't any of you idiots wake up & realize it's only going to get worse??? Five years from now he won't be able to tie his own boot laces. He needs protecting from himself (though it's probably too late) & yet most of you are encouraging him to carry on. And what about the boxing sanctioning bodies - shame on you too. Tragic. No woner the "sport" has a bad name.

  • He's in great shape for a sixty year old. Good luck Saoul, give it everything CHAMP!

  • i hope the boxing people humour the old guy let him spar a few rounds, hit the bag etc, and get it out of his system. if they dont he is going to get badly hurt and that would be very sad.

  • This guy lost a UD to a Bum this year. No way he gets a shot.

  • I am an ex-boxer looking to get in the ring again at 60 yrs old. I had 30 amatuer fights and 7 professional fights and have been training at Larry Holmes gym in Easton PA. The right promoter could convince the IBF to sanction a 60 year old and over welter

weight title fight. Are you interested? Please post a response.

  • cadillacra...What is your problem? You sound like a real asshole. If the man still wants to fight, then more power to him. When a sanctioned fight is set up by the promoter's, it is usually set up where it will be a competitive match. They are not going to put a 60 yr old in with a 20 yr old. Now if they put two 60 year old fighters in the ring, then that would make sense and be a good match up. BTW, I bet that Mr Mamby will drop your dopey ass in a heartbeat.

  • two 60 year olds would never make a good payday cause no one would care to watch this.any promoter who even considers setting this up is probably a bootleg promoter.i wouldnt even bother fighting him out of respect 4 my elders..lol..he's older than my pops who is 54.how bout i box you i guarantee i'd beat the dog shit out your ass.we can have the senior citizen match on our undercard.

  • Kia kaha kaumatua! Te toa o nga kaumatua! Kia kaha! Kia putu ou hoariri! Ka pai!

  • holy shit he doesnt look 60 at all

  • yeah he looks like 40

  • Too bad he's a Light-Welterweight. If he would have been a Heavyweight, his age wouldn't have mattered: George Foreman or Larry Holmes would've signed to fight him in a heartbeat. (Or, should I say, in a pacemaker beat!) LOL.

PS: The fight would be billed as: "Geezers At Caesar's!"

  • Good for him.

  • the guy on tape just said Saoul Mamby lost a ten round draw if its a draw he did nt lost right or did i miss something

  • im glad you picked on that cause i was confused by what the guy on tape said.if its a draw that means there was no loser, its a tie.the tv guy should get fired and give his job 2 1 of us who may know sports better than this idiot

  • dang he looks young

  • he is showing early signs of parkinson syndrom (early ish)

  • good job kick some young asses.

  • his speech is slow and thick revealing what all neurologists know.. That is, All Pro boxers suffer from pugilista dementia (repeated blows to the head) to one degree or another.. older guys are much more susceptible to this injury...

  • 60 is the new 40 anyway.

  • he looks about 30 year old

  • he doesn't look 60

  • sounds punch drunk to me!! shuudddda kuddda

  • April fools

  • What's funny about this, is that he could kick my ass. And my 27!

  • THIS is terrible, STOP THIS SOMEONE!!!!

    not fucking cool

  • Whoa at 60 and still in the ring, this dude is really tough.
