Not bad, but he does something more harmonic with two strings when the riff goes to "A." If you listen carefully, he doubles up the strings and does a guitar like riff there. I wish I knew how to post on You tube, I would show you what i think he does. Just to clarify, I am not putting you down at all, you play really well sir... He's tough to follow; I worked out the bass line for Here Comes the Sun which I thought would be easy, it took me over 3 hours to get all the little subtleties.He's#1

Thanks, I think you've cracked it. I was playing D D (on the E string) Then G hammer on to A (on the A string) then right hand hammer on to high F (on the A string) then pluck high D (on the A string) and slide down.

@solowbass did you mod the bass yourself? im asking ofcourse because of the eb humbucker in the neck. billy sheehans first bass was this exact set-up, but much uglier because he modded it himself in his mother's livingroom haha

This is great. How do get the slide so smooth? As a beginner, I always buzz when going up the neck.

@poliscope Thanks. I have flatwound strings, as opposed to roundwounds. That might make a difference to you. Also, keep your finger on the string and slide up dead center... you might try with a mirror to make sure you're not bendng the string. Perhaps your action is too low ( it changes during each year, depending on the climate where you live). Finally, try plucking closer to the bridge. Check out Dear Prudance on my site too... there are a lot of slides there.

You, sir, rock! I have to ask, what kind of a pickup is that in the neck position? Your sound is just killer on this. And you intro says it all, never seen anyone finger this song this way, but they should!

@classickbass Thanks a lot Class! That's a humbucker that I have a three way switch for P, Hummer, or P+Hummer in any balance. I don't use the Hummer here... it's all P. As for the fingering, I think Sir Paul was a real slider, and this fingering gives you a lot of string to use, plus the fat upper position sound.

Very interesting. I don't think I've seen anyone play it quite like that. Are you in a standard E tuning? Sounds wonderful. Your legatos are great. Where (what string/fret) are you starting on this? Also, if you don't mind, could you give me a little detail on what you are doing on the chorus bit (i.e. Come together . . . . right now ... over me)?

What do you think Paul used on this? The Hofner or the Rick?

@cartman1492 My pleasure! Yes, standard tuning. I've READ Paul used the Hofner, but whichever: FLATS! Also, I think he used a Fender Bassman with a 2X cab. On the Chorus I play both the open string and the fingered unison: same pitch, different tones. Notice that I, like "HE", play in the upper positions. It's a punchier, fuller bass tone and it give you more territory to slide up. Keep in mind that I finger, and "HE" picked. The entire album is bass heaven!!

Nice slides! This is a good way to view this type of thing - with the original very soft in the background and your bass sound up front. Great song and bass line.
