Been to Laytown five times but never knew they raced on the beach there as well, when is the next meeting, is there one in 2009. How far is it from Dublin, Thank you.
Yes every year it is held in 3rd weekend in August and next year will be no different hopefully so should be 16th August 2009 but will let u know when its announced. Its about 4 hours from dublin. Best route would prob go to Ballina Co. Mayo
This is a nice video of flappin, i am in fact one of the jockeys at this race meeting and its great craic! jst wonderin is there any photos of the flap or any other flaps online.
It is unbelievable with the horse racing on the beach. But both the horse and a person look happy. I remembered a book of Dick Francis. Has he visited here, too?

is this only ran once a year?? can u back on it in a bookies???
snowstormin51 2 years ago
Yes, I think this is one day only.
Don't think you can put a bet on at the bookies - just at the race itself.
It's worth going once just for to see it.
All the best.

Thanks for your comment. Don't know of any other flaps online. What race where you in? What colours were you wearing? And did you win?
I'll see if I have you on video.
Email us. All the best.

This was my first visit, and it was extraordinary.
You are right - the horses seemed really happy to be on the beach.
I got very close to the horses racing at one point thought, it was very exciting filming the event. A great day out.

Great footage of the horses, plus you have put together a really interesting video! 5 stars:)

You certainly had better weather on your visit to Vegas.
However, the flap was a very unique experience indeed.
