  • I didn't quite understand what was misleading about what he was doing to the Greens. Was it that he was getting conservation issues in the way of being gay? For the ALP, perhaps he was Shorten, sorry I mean short on dirty tricks.

  • @AustinGerassimos What a charming individual you are. Can't argue with reason so resort to personal abuse instead. This is typical of the left. No wonder you lot are on the nose with the broader community who have no time for your abusive bullying tactics.

  • @Leftyslayer7 I use reason with people who strike me as reasonable. You don't.

" the ALP have pulled similar stunts" - if I had got them on camera I would post that too. I hope if they do it again they get caught.

"sulking about their glamour girl being given the boot." - have nothing but contempt in my heart for the Labor party, McKew included. I covered this because deception is undemocratic. I did it on principle - something you wouldn't understand, coz your a F*cking Cheerleader.

  • @AustinGerassimos Whatever, you just seem like a completely rude, disrespectful and intolerant individual. Sure I may be a "cheerleader" as you put it, however I still have the right to put forward my opinions on what I consider to be a self serving, attention seeking beat up without having to cop abuse from the likes of you.

  • @AustinGerassimos. Furthermore, If I don't strike you as reasonable, then I gather that the same goes for those on here who have posted by vulgar and, at times, threatening rants, against Liberals on here? Unless you can respond to this post in a reasonable and level headed manner, without resorting to name calling and abuse, please do not bother responding at all, you will merely prove my point about the type of individual that you seem to be.

  • @Leftyslayer7 Fuken Yawn.

You you stand by this kind of behaviour then? if you were tricked into votin the wrong way you wouldn't be upset about it?

  • @AustinGerassimos Firstly I would not be tricked into voting the wrong way as I have the capacity to think for myself when voting. Secondly, as long as the material is authorised by the party distributing it, whether it's the Liberal Party or the ALP, it is perfectly legal and both sides will continue to do it until the law is changed so it's no point getting so self righteous and running around harrassing people and shoving cameras in their faces over it.

  • @AustinGerassimos The best way to get rid of this behaviour would be to abolish preferential voting altogether, or at least make it optional to number every box, and follow the rest of the world in adopting first past the post voting. That will eliminate all the wheeling and dealing which goes on behind the scenes between the parties attempting to gain each others preferences. However, I am not completely one eyed. There have been times that I have disapproved of Liberal Party tactics.

  • Nothing to see here. The ALP have pulled similar stunts, such as the fake Family First how to vote cards in the recent South Australian State Election. The Liberal Party has done nothing wrong here. Just a beat up from a group of bitter lefties sulking about their glamour girl being given the boot.

  • Who would vote Greens anyway.

Eat the big one Greens supporters, you're just jealous you didn't dress up in blue and pretend you were Liberal!

  • This is whining squared. All the kid did wrong was wear a green shirt with the word, "green" on it. Since when did the Greens own a copyright on the colour and word green? And if the Liberals believe that they were a better at managing the environment than either Labor or the Greens, then what is stopping them from telling green inclined voters to vote for them?

  • @OmegaRage you people are so lame.

  • you are nothing but hypocrites when it comes to this THE ALP DID THE EXACTLY SAME THING IN PERITH FOR A STATE BY- ELECTION!!! Oh!! I am soooooo sorry just remembered there a different set of rules the ALP and Greens follow. I am so sorry!! of course the Greens can lie to people when they want to.

  • ITS LEGAL. SUCK IT UP YOU TURDS.

IF YOURE STUPID ENOUGH TO BE INFLUENCED LIKE THAT, WELL YOU DESERVE YOUR VOTE CARD CANCELLED ANYWAY.

AND NO, IM NOT FROM THE LIBERAL, IN FACT I HATE THEM. =]

BUT I DO LOVE HOW THEY REVEAL THE FLAWS IN OUR SYSTEM.

I WOULD VOTE FOR THEM NOW SIMPLY BECAUSE IT SHOWS THEYRE MORE INTELLIGENT THAN THE DUMB SOOKING FOLKS DOWN AT THE OTHER PARTIES.

    Nuclear energy all the way.

  • Bob Brown doesn't like preference deals, he's merely informing people of the truth.

  • This guy was handing out earlier in the day at St James Church in Croydon (Grayndler). For the Liberals, of course.

  • This guy was handing out earlier in the day at St James Church in Croydon (Grayndler). For the Liberals, of course.

  • @sandyalex555 with your comment "the liberals won the seat so get over it"

you miss my point: there were liberal supporters actively tricking unsuspecting Green voters to vote Liberal. This is unethical and not to be forgotton come next election. I will not "get over" as you say, any fraudulant attempt for disrupt the fair electoral process.

Furthermore, if anyone knows the names of those people committing the fraud then please publish them here. I'd like to pursue the matter with the police

  • This was the type of dirty politics I saw from the young liberals when attending uni.

Looks like they are taking a step up and trying to derail Australia's democracy as well as the university student union elections.

    Shame on you Young Liberals.

  • Liberals have won a seat, and trashed their credibility and reputation - those young men are scum.

Please keep this video up here as I shall post links to it for the next election in a few years time.

Thankyou for posting it and exposing these people for what they are

  • the liberals won the seat

    so get over it

  • I was at that polling booth and got into a major yelling match with that guy when i found out!! thank god they didnt tape it! He couldnt give me a straight answer!!

  • I'm sorry, but I don't see how he's done anything wrong? It says it's Liberal.

  • @markrobbo83 They are obviously trying to mislead voters, how can you possibly not see that? And the WA ABC radio show the next morning pointed out that "The Green Army" is not a Liberal policy, so why on earth was he wearing shirt in the exact same green hue, with white bold lettering and the lower half of the shirt obscured so you could only see "The Green" most of the time?

  • And this scum want to grow up and control our country? How on earth could we let such deceitful people control us all!

I say let Facebook it and find out who he is!

  • And this scum want to grow up and control our country? How on earth could we let such deceitful people control us all!

  • Well, Ayran that was bad but the cards do make a good point, liberals do have a better environmental policy than Labor... Peter Garrett, what a joke lol

  • @xXDangeresqueXx if that's your opinion that's fair, though I would contest it. what was unfair was they presented it as the greens opinion, which it Isn't. Are you from the liberal party?

  • @AustinGerassimos I think you are right presenting it as a greens "How to vote card" was wrong and they should have been more moral about the way they did it and all policy in election time is propaganda anyway, I support the best candidate, in this election neither party was better and i am happy that it is a hung parliment, neither Liberal nor Labor would have made a good government. And Peter Garrett was put in that position for publicity, people who like midnight oil would vote lab.

  • @xXDangeresqueXx Kinda like how the Libs put John Alexander against Maxine McKew? People of Bennelong prefer ex-tennis players to ex-ABC journos, it seems ;p

  • Comment removed

  • @RileyWG He was but basically none of his political statements made a difference in parliment, he didn't put forward any ground breaking bills etc, he was there because people knew what his stance on political issues were. But i say it again, he did nothing, he was a figure head, just as Rudd was taken down by people behind the scenes, Garrett was a front for bigger people behind him

  • @xXDangeresqueXx I can't even express how stupid your post is. Rarely do governments make "ground breaking bills", it's even more unlikely that a one term government would make any "ground breaking bills", but to expect a government to have "ground breaking bills" in every portfolio is ridiculous.

Also, the ETS may be the "ground breaking" policy to come, if Labor regain government. Garret actively supported the ETS.

  • This also occurred in the seat I was handing out Green how-to-vote cards in in Victoria. Identical cards being handed out by someone who wasn't dressed in Liberal gear. At least the guy I saw wasn't working with a green shirt on. I just told the bastard I'd be flanking him, handing out the REAL Greens how-to-vote cards. Dirty tactics. AEC guy at our seat said the same thing - dirty but legal.

  • @b4r0ne55 write a letter to your local paper, at the very least.

  • @AustinGerassimos I shall.

  • It's legal to dress up in green. It's illegal for you to harass a person.

  • Dude in the green shirt: You are just pathetic, mate. Pathetic. Young libs at their finest...

  • Scum!

I was handing out score cards for Get Up in Bennelong on election day and was told by a bunch of Young Liberals, led by Greg Smith(state member for Epping)'s son Jerome, that women should be seen and not heard.

The Liberal Party needs to die.

  • What I LIKE about it is that the Libs think the GREENS ARE A THREAT...WHY BECAUSE THEY ARE A THREAT TO THE OLD SCHOOL,GO GREEN LEAP AHEAD OF THE DEADLOCKED PARTYS

  • Look at how ashamed they are. They cannot give a straight answer, and can barely look the guy in the eye. This is exactly the dishonesty they are trained for. They a scum. This is the ONLY way they can get votes. These people KNOW they are doing the wrong thing. They KNOW they are perverting the democracy of Australia. They KNOW it is immoral, yet they do it anyway. They have no conscience. They have NO PLACE in Australian Govt. Labs and Greens may or may not be good. But LIBS ARE Evil

  • @murrangurk it makes me mad too, CAPITAL LETTERS MAD!!!!!!!!!

  • @lacertineforest RRRRRRRRRRRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @murrangurk GRRRRRRRRRAAAAAAA!

  • @AustinGerassimos yeah mate, he got a bit of flak from myself and my other mates, haha it was pretty funny though haha

  • @Sweatyboy101 awesome

  • People who can't think for themselves being misled into voting a certain way? This is unheard of!

  • Wherever you stand in the political spectrum, this is just not cricket. Have your say and make this link VIRAL.

  • @TheAliceLightning Consider it LINKED!!!!!!! NAME & SHAME!!!!

  • Disgusting.

  • Who is this guy?

  • I hope Andrew Wilke takes things like this into account when he's weighing up which party can provide ethical government.

  • @mzaphod How exacrtly does the ALP provide "ethical government" given their backdoor shenanigans, lies, deception and knife-stabbing.

  • @martygp Oh of course the Libs never stoop to backstabbing, like Howard's total betrayal in the 80's and Turnbull being sacked for upholding climate science. Oh of course the Lab's behaviour TOTALLY justifes this kind of dishonesty.

    You stupid troll prick.

  • So what? It states Libs at the bottom anyway. Do you think voters are that stupid?

  • @martygp apparently the liberals think they are... but seriously do you read every bit of fine print on those things?

  • @AustinGerassimos No,because I actually know who to vote for on the ballot as it has the name of the party on there!

  • @martygp that's the point... this had Bob Brown and The Greens on it... i no longer follow your point...

  • @AustinGerassimos I mean the actual ballot paper where YOU vote and not the flyers the parties hand out with their preferences.

  • Comment removed

  • @martygp yeah ok... now i follow... but that doesn't change the deceitfulness here... they are clearly going for the "soft" green vote. I.e. people who don't pay that much attention to politics but think the greens seem ok or environmental issues are important. Then they meet some one who appears to be from the greens and gives them what looks like a greens pamphlet telling them the greens think they should PREFERENCE liberal, not Labor. They might just go along with it.

  • "perfectly legitamite" and legal are 2 different things.

If this is how the Liberal Party do business they do not deserve our votes ever.

  • AUSTIN RULES!

  • shows how much faith the liberals have in their own party they have to pull this shit to steal votes

  • SPREAD THIS VIDEO.

This represents something that we should all be aware of.

I just wish we could inform people properly. No party is better than another, each party simply has different policy opinions, and if people can know what they are voting for, then our Democracy can be legitimate

  • This is a shameful "ACA or Today Tonight style" interview that has put this poor guy on the spot and edited in the worse possible way, exactly the tactics that Media Watch condemns. Other tactics far worse than this have been used in other electorates. I personally know the guy in green as I went to high school with him and sat next to him in Maths for years. The voter that thought it was a Greens "how to vote card" is clearly in surplus of a chromosome.

  • @Morganix01 maybe they should have shown footage of him when he's at home and taking the green shirt off. Him being liberal and wearing that big green tee really speaks for itself.

People who are lining up at the polling booth probably didn't sit next to him in maths class. What do you expect people to think if they dont know him personally?

  • @Morganix01 IF you hadn't sat next to him in math would you still think it was shameful of me to expose him being a deceitful little sh*t?

  • @AustinGerassimos Just for the record, everyone in school knews him and I do not get on well at all. That doesn't mean I can't be objective here. Watch some Media Watch and you'll get use to tactics often employed by A Current Affairs, Today Tonight and other similiar shows. Sadly, youthscape has employed the same tactics.I don't agree with what has happened here at all.

And as you can clearly see, he had stated the green army was a liberal party policy.Liberal Party is marked below the cards.

  • @Morganix01 the tactic? filming someone doing smething dubious? we should have asked his permission? should I ask permission to film if i see someone robbing an old lady?

ACA and TT and so forth sometimes apply this tactic to people who don't really deserve it. make a news story out of someone getting annoyed by them pestering them -that is crap journalism.

When they do it to someone ripping of pensioners life savings it is an invaluable public service.

    Peace.

  • @AustinGerassimos Plus you also do not see any of the footage that has not been edited in. Might have told a much different story. If you were approached by a film crew, you also might not be so sure if you were meant to be speaking to them. There are always more than one side to every story. You may disagree with what I have said. But to say I am biased purely on the basis that I went to school with him is ridiculous. You would think I would be able to judge his character knowing him than you.

  • @Morganix01 i was asking if u had considered whether u were biased. Not stating anything.

I did see the whole thing. I filmed it. I am certain he was committing a deliberate act of deception to advance the political party he supports. That is why he was nervous about being filmed. Because he was busted doing something immoral.

    Peace

  • Typical Liberal wankers. Are we really surprised?

  • Clutch ... straws

This would be the same Labor party that distributed fake how to vote cards in "Put your Family First" t-shirts at the SA election

  • @bianconieri Yeah, I recall that too.

  • Scum

  • Haha I know this guy from high school, he is a bit weird and extremely liberal party based. Disregard him people

  • @Sweatyboy101 make sure he sees it... and knows he was on channel ten news tonight as well.

  • @AustinGerassimos Trust me. I know him as well. Everyone linked him to this days ago.

  • Well done for filming. What a disgrace.

  • Haha. For crissakes stop eating and speak! They look like little toddlers caught eating all the cookies.

As for the dude fiddling with the video equipment, there's the reason the phrase "born-to-rule attitude" is routinely applied to generations of young Libs.

  • Typical political underhanded tactics...this campaign was a complete let down!

  • The joke here is on the Liberal voters. Their candidate shows contempt for the intelligence of the voters, and for the democratic process. It may be legal, but it is designed to cheat people out of their right to choose by confusing them. It is dishonest, it is un-Australian, not the sort of qualities you want to see in the person elected to represent the communitie's interests. Shame on the Liberals, and the AEC for allowing this kind of low behaviour. This is nothing to be proud of.

  • well done. Such dirty tricks. Shame Liberals Shame.

  • BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

    I KNOW HIM

  • the AEC guy said it.... it's legal.

  • @teamandy07 exactly!

This is politics people... not exactly an exposé!!!

Must admit I did enjoy the young Russell Crowe style narration though ;-)

  • @teamandy07 just like to point out, dumping toxic wastes into rivers was legal thirty years ago too. but was it ethical? that's why it was changed. Legal does not always equate to ethical, let alone, moral.

  • @teamandy07 legal maybe, ethical no.

  • Young Liberals are taught by old Liberals — clearly. Shame indeed.

  • Young Liberals are taught by old Liberals — clearly. Shame indeed.

  • That's awesome, creative thinking from the Liberals to sway voters too stupid to know any better. Trevor Chappel would be proud of this underarm delivery.

  • Disgraceful

  • isnt this an offense of some sort?

  • electionWIRE's Queensland team reported on some shady polling day behaviour in the electorate of Ryan. Check out their video below.

    electionWIRE eds.

  • That's disgraceful!

  • We had the same thing in Ryan, Qld. Libs on site denied any involvement but the fliers were authorised by their party. I explained to them the demerits of lying. After threats of legal action they were suddenly withdrawn across the entire electorate. Not centrally coordinated by the Libs? Pull the other one.

I told them if they wanted Greens voters to preference them ahead of Labor, they should try sound environmental policies Greens voters could support.

They got the result they deserved.

  • MAJOR DOUCHE LORD LIBERAL

  • I noticed labor in my electorate wearing the traditionally liberal blue shirts and blue pamphlets. They also gave out fake greens how to vote pamphlets in our by-election.

  • @barisaxman2 Guess what happened to both major parties ... this kind of tactic from both sides doesn't work. They both ended up plastered with mud and we couldn't see anything of substance through the filth.

If they don't learn from this, next time the Greens vote will be much higher.

  • Anything's fair if you're born to rule and god's on your side.

  • What are they eating.. snakes? Yeah, makes sense.

  • go the liberals!!! not very liberal at all if you ask me!!

  • Also, I love the sly attempt to fiddle with the video equipment at 0:21. What the hell did he think was going to happen when he tried that?

  • So wait, did they actually have the preference list on the fake cards, telling you how to vote, or did it just state in broad terms 'liberal policies are better than labor policies if you're voting green?"

If the latter, I agree it's low, but surely a savvy voter would see through it once they saw it didn't actually list the Green's suggested preferences? (assuming Australians are savvy voters... risky)

  • @imjustsomeguy72 The front of the brochure said the Green leader Bob Brown didn't believe in the preference system and you should choose your own preferences...so not listing prefs on the back (instead listing "policies") would appear to make sense.

  • @imjustsomeguy72 can't believe they put bob browns picture, quote and even their website on there...that's just low

labor did prettymuch the same thing though:

    smh.com.au/federal-election/fight-turns-ugly-in-lindsay-20100821-139hg.html

"The [Labor] party's campaigners are distributing how to vote cards dressed as Liberals...

A Labor campaign leaflet is also styled to look like Greens election material...but contains no party logo."

  • thats aryan and james sin!

  • @clementcoolguy LOL

No point telling non Ruse ppl that...

  • It's not legal, and they stopped when legal action was about to be taken against them.

Google "Greens allege dirty tricks in Qld" - youtube won't let me link it.

Maybe if the candidates that contaminated their seat's votes like this were automatically banned from winning the seat, they'd think twice about committing these despicable actions. Whether Liberal, Labour, Green, or Martian - I don't care WHO does it - they've proven they don't deserve the responsibility.

  • nothing new. this happened in the recent SA election, with Labor party members giving out how to vote cards saying "put your family first" while wearing blue t-shirts with the same slogan. The AEC deemed it was legal.

  • If it was illegal they would be charged... And have they been charged? No, well that answers the question of its it legal or not

  • @canyouhandlethehugv2 They were about to be charged when they stopped:

    From SMH:

"Just before the commission was due to take the matter to the Federal Court in Brisbane on Saturday afternoon, it received written undertakings from the state director for the LNP, Michael O'Dwyer, to stop workers handing out the pamphlet and take off the T-shirts.

The commission then called off its legal action, its chief legal officer Paul Pirani said."

  • Looks bad, but unfortunately all sides of politics does it. Nothing special

  • @kurteos027 @kurteos027 No it is illegal see the ninemsn news article

  • The greens classing the colour green as their own, would be like coca cola classing red as their own. you cannot trademark a colour.

I emplore you to wear red and volunteer for the party you represent next election!

have you seen the coalitions policy named 'the green army'

    realy, it is smart marketing.

  • @kurteos027 Not true. Cadbury "own" their particular shade of purple within their market (confectionary). Wouldn't surprise me if Coke were in a similar position.

It's not "smart marketing", it's intentionally misleading marketing. That's not smart, that's having contempt for your audience. That attitude is why people HATE marketers.

  • The greens classing the colour green as their own, would be like coca cola classing red as their own. you cannot trademark a colour.

I emplore you to wear red and volunteer for the party you represent next election!

have you seen the coalitions policy named 'the green army'

    realy, it is smart marketing.

  • @kurteos027 Actually you can trademark a colour.

  • I'm pretty sure this can be construed as illegal, despite what the AEC offical stated, for the same reason the Liberals had to pull their google adwords bids on opponents names.

This would end up in court - all Labor and Green voters I urge you to email this link to your local members and or branches.

  • #@$# disgraceful. Slimy, underhanded and pathetic & immoral tactics. The lame tactics speak for themselves. Shame, shame, shame

  • What's funniest is that these oft-repeated scams don't really garner many, if any votes at all. They serve solely to make the scammers look devious and deceitful. Who'd vote for devious and deceitful?

  • @tehnutjobbery This is NOT true, if someone dressed as a Green hands out a fake how to vote card it WILL lead to people voting other then their previous intention.

Reading up on AEC rules, but it appears it is illegal to mis-represent your own identity and pretend to be from an opposing party.

  • Great reporting! Good to see you guys doing the job the mainstream media fail to do.

  • This is disgusting - A party that authorises these dirty tricks does not deserve to govern. I still can't believe this is legal. the greens needed to stand in his face and announce him as a liberal all day until he have up.

  • HI JAMES! (young libs Asian dude with glasses in background)

  • @crazedmongoose2003 I'm so glad this tape has reached the cast... is Aryan our star?

  • LOOOOOOOL ARYAN

  • Comment removed

  • and we are surprised because???? The two old parties are running scared, they can see their power being taken away.

  • BOO liberal party and your tricks.

  • How do they live with themselves?

  • This is an old old old trick. Both major parties usually pull it, and it's usually at the expense of the Greens, who don't have a monopoly on the colour, or the policies.

  • Here folks is the future of the Liberal Party.

The behaviour here is yet another case for dispensing with the preferential system altogether.

  • this is a shameful "ACA style" interview that has put this poor guy on the spot. Other tactics far worse than this have been used in other electorates. The voter that thought it was a Greens "how to vote card" is clearly in surplus of a chromosome.

  • @lukecouacaud I'm the interviewer, and i feel the guy has made himself a legitimate target by taking part in the nefarious activities he's involved in. Perhaps this will be a lesson to him.

  • @lukecouacaud p.s. he wasn't up for a sit down indepth interview funnily enough... because he was ashamed of what he was doing.

  • @lukecouacaud shameful? Calling out someone caught in the act of deception is SHAMEFUL?

    .

Accusing someone else of your own crimes isn't a defence, it's an admission of guilt!

  • @lukecouacaud Well said well said. I know the person in the green shirt personally and anyone who watches enough media watch would clearly understand where you are coming from.

  • @Morganix01 So do I. Douche. Never speaking to him again.

  • @imaginary28 LOL. You serious?

  • We had those htvs in Lindsay as well - Labor had also put out a fake htv for Greens voters, because the Lindsay Greens candidate had an open htv. Both sides play dirty.

  • Comment removed

  • the behaviour of both the major parties in the lead up to the election has been absolutely disgusting. I can't stand the thought of either being in power.

  • Just because it is legal does not make it right and once again we see how truly dishonest the liberal party is. Lets not forget the other elections, they have been caught out on quite a bit over the years. What I find a real insult is that they think the Australian public is so stupid and would not know that it was all fake. Well that must have shocked the liberal party to find that we do actually have intelligent people in this country. What creeps they all are.

  • Filthy Liberals

  • Shame on the young Liberals involved in this sham. No spine, no ethics, no class. You bring you party into disrepute and you make fools of yourselves in the process. Just so you know, if any of you kids are hoping to have careers in politics, this video will follow you for the rest of your lives. Hope it was worth it.

  • Being a Liberal supporter is all about trying to bend the rules in your favour. This is disgusting and par for the course.

  • Legal but not legitimate.

  • @carringtonbrigham it's legal but is it fair? Is it ethical? It's certainly misleading. Is that how the Liberals want to conduct themselves?

  • I don't much like it, but as the man says, it's legal. And both parties do it (there have been reports of at least two instances of Labor misrepresentation in this election too). But we should be grateful, compared to what the Republicans and Democrats get up to in the US, this is kids' stuff.
