Well, seeing as you can't even spell the word "no" correctly, I don't think your judgement on Barrowman's (poor) acting ability is that valid. He's more camp than a pink parrot singing Barbra Streisand songs by Liberracce's swimming pool. And his singing voice leaves a lot to be desired as well.
That is so cruel and untrue. John Barrowman has been a very successful West End leading man for many years, and even if he isnt someone you particularly care for you have to at least respect that there is a reason for that. One of those reasons is that he has an amazing ability to act. In Id do anything the other judges actually comments on how John managed to bring the acting they wanted out of one of the girls. So even if you dont like him show some respect for his accomplishments.
He is not over glorified! His voice is absolutely amazing, and several of the musical songs he has performed has been the best version of that song I have ever heard. As far as acting goes you may not like his style, but even so you should show more respect than to bring forth such ignorant claims. Yes he is absolutely drop dead gorgeous, but so are a lot of men who never makes it. If that was all there was he wouldnt be where he is today. If you dont like dont watch - be respectful about it.

This is bullshit. The 'Emotions' these Actors are being asked to fake, are not emotions. Betrayal is NOT an emotion, nor is vulnerability! Those are states of mind. States of mind have to do with thinking NOT feeling. Acting is not intellectual. It is emotional and instictual. Bad advice.
You are mistaken. You don't MAKE people believe anything. This is why what you are doing is manipulative. You said it yourself when you said "MAKE." Teach your students to use their imaginations, so that THEY believe there imaginary circumstances. Then people (and the audience should be of NO considerations at this point) will KNOW. THAT is where the acting is.
Like a (rather well-known) Dutch actor told me once (during an acting class I want to add), Acting = Being! You have to believe what you are saying and doing. If you have to 'play' angry you must BE angry, don't pretend because that makes it all the more unreal.
Check him out in "Megalodon". He has the last line of the movie (which he improved). The line is: "Ho about I take you home and eat your pussy". And he delivers it terribly.
He someone who always makes jokes and pranks. When the director told him to get a reaction out of his female opposite he said the sentence to make her laugh and was shocked when he saw that they actually left it in - I quote-"The freaking movie". He was really shocked, because he was watching the movie with his nieces and nephews and was like "no! turn it off!"

I absolutely LOVE Torchwood...But lets face it.. John Barowman is a total and utter cheesball. He will never make it in movies; and his acting is atrocious. And his singing is like a male Judy Garland from prep school.

Bear in mind that a) this is only an excerpt of a much longer session that they had and b) they were learning to act for theatre which is different to acting on TV and in films - theatre work requires more exaggarated actions and speech/singing than you'd need for TV or films.

Relax, calm down, visualize the situation clearly, then let the emotions come by themselves, don't "produce" them, don't be an actor, just be a human being.

There is a fine line between confidence and arrogance- In Ben's defence, you can't expect an 18 year old boy to be self aware enough to judge when they have crossed it! Ben could come across as having an inflated ego, but the "arrogance" hid a fair amount of insecurity and self-doubt. (and FEAR)
He's young - forgive him his imperfections and applaud his accomplishments!
these guys are under intense pressure, away from home, young and this exercise was designed to get them in touch with being vulnerable. it worked, obviously. It's an old technique to have people you're singing to turn their backs to emphasize that you're ignored by people who should love you.

I hate seeing videos like this circulating, because all these videos do is encourage "showing" and "indicating" on stage and on screen when people are acting. Be angry. Be sad. Cry. Really? Emotions are by prodBuct of action, needs and wants and desire. People cry because they fail, really fail, not because they "act sad". But will you hear the words goals, obstacles, tactics or expectations here? Nope.
i have had a couple of lessons in acting at my school, i can tell you that in that time i have learned how to put up a face when i am in a group. i can manage to look really pissed of while inside i am happy. or the other way around. i can cry when it is needed even if i am happy. so these things can be taught by someone. and crying is not always a by product to an action, need or desire

This is generlised bullshit! These guys cannot deliver a line to save their lives. Singing maybe. Art forms can't be general. Generalisation is the enenmy of art. To be a great actor you need to be specific in every action you do. Emotions? yeah sure. Anger? What type of anger? Fear? What type of fear? Emotions are a very large area. This is why there is so much bad acting on TV. People are lazy and it really pisses me off that you get people thinking that its easy and that anybody can do it.
I agree. Emotions are caused by actions, not by indicating. I mean, there is importance in commiting to being an asshole, but if you lack a goal, it doesn't matter how hard you scowl, it'll never look real.

these guys are under intense pressure, away from home, young and this exercise was designed to get them in touch with being vulnerable. it worked, obviously. It's an old technique to have people you're singing to turn their backs to emphasize that you're ignored by people who should love you.

I hate seeing videos like this circulating, because all these videos do is encourage "showing" and "indicating" on stage and on screen when people are acting. Be angry. Be sad. Cry. Really? Emotions are by prodBuct of action, needs and wants and desire. People cry because they fail, really fail, not because they "act sad". But will you hear the words goals, obstacles, tactics or expectations here? Nope.

i have had a couple of lessons in acting at my school, i can tell you that in that time i have learned how to put up a face when i am in a group. i can manage to look really pissed of while inside i am happy. or the other way around. i can cry when it is needed even if i am happy. so these things can be taught by someone. and crying is not always a by product to an action, need or desire

If anybody really wants to know what great acting is and what the work is about look up Uta Hagen or Sanford Meinser. For screen acting there is a fantastic class with Sir Michael Caine.
Forget this Iit won't teach you a thing. No disrespect to John Barrowman but he is working with monkeys.

This is generlised bullshit! These guys cannot deliver a line to save their lives. Singing maybe. Art forms can't be general. Generalisation is the enenmy of art. To be a great actor you need to be specific in every action you do. Emotions? yeah sure. Anger? What type of anger? Fear? What type of fear? Emotions are a very large area. This is why there is so much bad acting on TV. People are lazy and it really pisses me off that you get people thinking that its easy and that anybody can do it.

I agree. Emotions are caused by actions, not by indicating. I mean, there is importance in commiting to being an asshole, but if you lack a goal, it doesn't matter how hard you scowl, it'll never look real.

why was keith crying? i watched the whole series and i think lee probably was the best pick for joseph, but i think keith should have won. i dont think its fair that someone who had been on stage a lot got the winning role. but i dont quite understand why keith was crying. love him though xx
