  • wow. i could watch this guy all day.

  • fuck. that mesmerised me for a while

  • SICK like a diseased monkey!!

  • how did he tune up his snare at 1:14

    that was cool

  • He has a small splash laying on the snare and he moves it slightly to change the sound.

  • oh i see it now... that's so cool. were does he move it to/from to get this affect? i haven't seen it before

  • The more of it that is laying on the snare head the more it's going to mute the drum, so when you see him moving it, he is pushing it off the head onto the rim, thus a louder sound is produced when he hits the snare after words.

  • You can look closely and you see there's a small symbol type thing muting it. Probably there to stop the ring.

  • he put a little symbol on it

  • LOVELY O= GREAT FUCKING DRUMMING (:

  • If you like this guy check out Johnny Rabb, he's pretty sick too

  • Awesome!

  • NIIIIICEEEEEEEEEE

  • powerpuff girls drumbeet

  • hater...

  • the beginning does sound like the intro song to powerpuff, not that i've seen it.

    *cough, cough*

  • haha i see your point. nontheless, great drumming.

  • Which, by the way, is a great tune ;) Drum & Bass in ALL forms ftw!!!

  • lol

i showed my drummer drum and bass for the first time and he said it was like the powerpuff girls drum beat too

  • Haha, your drummer is actually right!

  • This guys has Mad skill, ok this beat a'nt mega teck, but , 1 its tighter then a virgin's pussy and look and his tecknique, he 's barley lefting a moving! So chilled out but yeat so tight and snappy!

  • I don't mean to offend anybody, but I don't think that KJ Sawka should be judged based on this video alone. It's obviously very creative with the tambourine in his right hand, but at the same time, it doesn't seem like he's very used to it, the grooves he uses aren't as complex as his usual stuff. I LOVE his work, and this is a solid beat, don't get me wrong, but to everybody judging him based on this alone, this is not his best work.

  • It's still unique though. How many drummers out there make dnb / jungle their primary style?

  • Yes, I agree. I'm just saying that this video shouldn't act as an accurate gauge of his talent.

  • is that a Pearl Free Floating 14x3,5 snare?

    Because i love it...

  • jo jo mayer will rip this dude to pieces

  • Comment removed

  • so what??? kj is also great musician, you are on the other hand my friend - retarded

  • That's subjective, and KJ is VERY comparable to Jojo in terms originality - if not on par with. They're both PHENOMENAL artists, and both easily have enough room in this world. Jojo would pat him on the back, and call you an idiot and a brat.

  • thanks KJ

  • ... because Ableton uses loops and samples from THIS GUY.

read the filenames of your samples, dude.

  • Nuts...

  • uhh yeah. sure. just go thru your stock sample library w/ loopmasters in Live right quick, and you should see some "KJSAWKA_" stuff in there.

can't really blame a guy for sounding like himself, ya know what I mean? haha =]

  • ya wtf dude...

a lot of tracks from live are done by him.

so do ur research before u speak.

  • Umm, I just said that was cool, I'm not mad that they're on ableton, jeez.

  • This man is no fucking joke, god damn. His recording tracks are so good too, check out the track he did with A-Sides.

  • my favourite part of the video is where he plays the drums

  • my cats breath smells like cat food

  • So does mine. :P

  • @JohnnyBoy232 i lol'd.. u bastard

  • God damn. This guy is absolutely unbelivable. big big big

  • 1:02 - 1:09 is the sickest sound on planet earth.

this man deserves a nobel prize

  • u are the best 5 1:17= super

  • 1:17 - 1:39

  • i could watch this allday.d'n'b should always be about complex drums.anyone interested should checkout hospital records and also inperspective records--PROPER d'n'b

  • ah man my favorite of the swaka videos, serious drummer, love that ride cymbal that comes in at 53 seconds!

  • is he have it on a note or just roll out?

  • Take a wild guess...

  • ok where the heck can

i get one of these jingle stick things

  • You can find it at your local music store - they're a very common find and they cost 5-10$. I got mine for 10 bucks. Good luck finding one :)

  • Hardcore insanity!!

    XD

  • you are the big one!

  • 1:06... amazing.. everything.. i just wet my self... multiple times...

  • Please excuse me while I pick my jaw up from the floor

  • Man, you need to put out a DnB loop CD, like yesterday.

  • oh but he IS!

Hospital Records of London Elektricity / High Contrast fame announced on their podcast that they were working on a DnB live drum pack.

  • Yeah I subscribe to that podcast too. I'm definitely buying it when it comes out.

  • Kevin Sawka... You are my hero.

  • Blown Away.

  • love these beats, makes me wanna get my kit out and play!

  • Excellent

  • love this vid.

    my fav

  • wow... WOW! kevin, you never cease to amaze me! see ya in San Francisco on 4/20 :)

  • ah, I see what he's doing. He normally has a sort-of "swing" technique going on when he's playing with both sticks. but in this vid, you can see that in order to maintain that "doubled" sound on the tambourine, he has to keep it "quantatized" on the right. I bet if he practiced that pattern more he could probably get that "swing" coming back on the left. I think it would sound pretty awesome.

  • very cool

  • need more. MORE.

  • Kj u Rock!!!!!!!!!

  • nice kj!

  • this is fuckin awesome

  • Whoa!

This is amazing jungle drumming, this guy is better then Jojo and Rabb...

It's not only technique but also the sound that the set produces, 5 star..

  • Btter than JoJo?? That is a very bold statement sir!!

No doubt the man has a lot of skill, I have watched all of his videos and am an avid subscriber, but to say he is better than JoJo is pushing it a bit =)

  • JoJo has better technique, i agree.

but in regards to sound, i think sawka wins.

every single drum and cymbel in his drumset sounds electronic and within the jungle vocabulary. that's not easy to achieve.

  • agreed

  • awesome dude!!!

  • Get in.
