  • As for shifting in corners and r.r. Tracks like they said just so you dont miss a gear. I shift when truck is ready in a turn or otherwise. Most trailers follow round and dont bother shifting a 10'2" spread will affect shifting in corners. But not a big deal

  • I like petes but why dont they make air ride seats in them i would hate to have to sit on the floor

  • I drive aprox 2 hours a day making a 1 hour commute to college and 1 hour back. Sometimes this is how my little pickup feels. -_-!

  • @104bigTruck you left the jake on when you were trying to shift. haha shit happens

  • @iambossnuffsaid I meant to lol

It drops the rpms faster .

  • @iambossnuffsaid

its suppose to be that way for the effect

  • As long as your not living in the past

  • hey will your school record affect whether or not you can be a truck driver like i got in a couple fights, does that matter? because i never smoke weed, i dont vandalise anything and im good in my classes i just get in fights

  • Cameraman had big balls

  • @micdunmo Ah that was me. I starpped it to the log. no riders.

  • Wheres the smoke?

  • @micdunmo Hardly any if any all all with this 99 Pete. EPA emissions make it run fairly clean.

  • LOL imagine being in that tunnel at 07:58

  • @fafaforza Sometimes I'll nail the train horn if there's a car in the other side just for giggles. lol

  • Nice lookin and sounding Pete! Why in the CDl manual does it say you shouldn't upshift while turning? Is it cause the load move around?

  • @WaWagasman Is that what it says? Well we all know there are some unreal things in that manual.

  • @104bigTruck Oh no, I was asking lol. It didn't say why in the manual, it just said don't upshift when turning. I was wondering from a trucker's point of view why you shouldn't upshift while turning

  • @WaWagasman Never heardof such non sense. unless there is some rookie who cant shift well enough. lol

  • @104bigTruck I think the reason they say not to upshift while turning is the same as crossing train tracks.. Incase you miss a gear... That manual is good for nothing but getting ur license . After that its useless

  • @WaWagasman from what i have heard it's because there is a chance you might miss and end up in the middle of traffic trying to recover or start over. i shift while turning its not that big of a deal but they will mark you down on your drive test if you do it

  • @hardworken1986 Well play by the rules during the tests. If you cant shift smoothly in a corner and safely then dont do it. There is alot of torque in a turn and if you arent smooth you can cause damage. I dont even personally consider this an issue with myself.

  • what model Cat Engine is this? Straight Pipes? Awsome Sounding rig!!!!

  • @ponycar24fan 3406 e

  • V8 sounds more beautiful!

  • Love the video, but probably not as much as you must love the view out your front windshield. Geez, how nice is that, looking at that wonderful countryside go by. Beats what most people have to look at all day long.

  • optimus prime !!! :D

  • whats that noise when you ahift. i hear it in muslce cars and motorcycles too sometimes. sweet truck btw

  • @AverageGamezzz Well the first few shift up that hill were Jake shifting.

  • hey man like your video, truck sounds bad ass, i have see you around live in abby work in mapleR..

  • That was an awsome video. That camera angle was the best and was so clear i felt like i was really there

  • love that truck. even better is it goin through my hometown

  • turn ur jake off rookie

  • @wranglerboy3242 turn off your mouth. I have over 20 yrs of prossional driving under my belt. utlizing your Jake is fine. Seriously....... lol

  • @104bigTruck o bite me u fuckin rookie. 20 yrs of wat holdin a steering wheel ha ya thats wat i thought ive put more miles on a truck goin back wards then u have forward

  • @wranglerboy3242 And like I give a crap? Whats your point? What makes you so special? Lets hear it brad pitt?

  • @wranglerboy3242 your pretty big and tough braggin from behind a computer desk arent you

  • @TheOak94 I dont have to prove anything to a short jimmy like you so have fun being blocked from my vids for making retarded smmall jimmy commments.

  • @104bigTruck that was actually meant for the other guy

  • @TheOak94 Oh good then. He's seriously got a small jimmy sydrome. lol

  • so thats what its like to be a log lol

  • Sounds better than Megan Fox Moaning

  • Is that a Cat or a Cummins?

  • @tex12358 I'll give you a hint........Meoow?

  • sound nice coming out of the tunnel

  • you cross into the WA state.........do you have a 105500 GVWR..if so how many axles and how do you have them set up? I live in Abbotsford! Nice video!

  • @trashratt I live near sumas Hey Neighbor! You can see my trucks all around the lower mainland too. You typically need 8 axles for 105,500 lbs. We usually utilze a two axle log trailer ,drop axle on the truck with a two axle pup trailer. We now have other set up such as double drops on the truck, one in front and one behind the drivers and a four axle trailer. It's a mess. lol

  • @trashratt . LOL !. my 1977 ford l 9000 , cat 3406a haul 120000 lbs all the time in AFRICA . oversize or overload autorisations dont know overthere .its carry all you can .tendam rockwell sq100, cat 3406a and triaxles 53' trailer and of cause an eaton fuller transmission is the package you need .no fanci materiel for illigal, mega extra super heavyduty ....

  • @babouinga that is the way it should be! Haul as much as you can and have fun doing it! Cheers from Canada!

  • The truck did sound good though!

  • Ha ha that's a good one ( mufflers on the mic) but that truck is loud and awesome!!

  • Too much wind noise but it did sound good!

  • @lesnanawoyjerripete1 Yah I know i need to get a good muffler on the mic

  • Great vid except for the wind noise...thanks again!

  • Your full of yourself trucker!

  • @markallen511 Oh yah?

  • Sounds good!

  • Very cool, thanks for the ride.

  • Nice truck, but it sounds like your changing gear with a sledge hammer!

  • Wow.. great video!

  • To reduce wind sound you put a Wind Sock on mic. A wind sock is a cover that is shaped like a sock, but look more like animal fur. Or, a home made wind wind soc can be made from low density foam wrapped around the mic. The foam has to be practically see-thru like a K&N air filter without oil on it. Actually, a K&N air filter torn apart would probaly work.

  • nice sound and view !

  • the closest i've ever been to something like that was in a game :( but i was driving a k100 :D

  • this is so cool! i love the truck and the way it sounds...made my bed fell like it was being hauled by it :))...to bad the wind messes the engine sound up when you get up to speed :(

  • @flubbzer Hey I agree so does anyone know how to get rid of the wind noise? There has to be a trick.

  • @104bigTruck I'm thinking maybe a glass panel right in font of the cam to direct the wind around it....but that may reduce the engine noise as well...and i'm not even sure if it will work in the first place...or you might put a small microphone right next to the exhaust behind the cab....but that means a little more work and a long wire which could get caught in all that sexy metal :D

  • @104bigTruck I made a little case with a cloth put on it...best is some synthetic, rich, with as little holes (among a fibers) as possible..it should get you rid of 80-90% of wind noise.......depends on "density" of the cloth and speed of the wind ...but it works for me ... I've tried it in a storm with 40 km/h wind and no wind noise was recorded at all

  • @104bigTruck I f you notice television and movie crews and their microphones....they have massive fuzzy fur covers and covers made of foam for the ends of their mics, this diffuses and deflects the wind and subsequent noise....try experimenting with a combination of fake fur, foam and or loose cloth.....you can also try to go with an external microphone as well....try looking at the products on this site...

  • @104bigTruck put a pushel to it. you see it often in tv-interviews at outside location its with kinda longhair outside and foam inside greetings from cologne

  • @104bigTruck @104bigTruck put a pushel to it. you see it often in tv-interviews at outside location its with kinda longhair outside and foam inside greetings from cologne

  • @104bigTruck I know it sounds ridiculous but try putting some pantyhose over the microphone on your camera. it shold help out a lot.. if not completely eliminate it.

  • @104bigTruck Put the camera down out of the wind; like behind the cab pointing up at the stacks.

  • @104bigTruck Get a windscreen for the mic. One of those circular ones that are about 5"across wud work pretty well, though at highway speeds, you may have to get two or three and layer them

  • @104bigTruck the only way to really reduce wind noise would be using an external mic surrounded by a mic zeppelin as they call it

  • @104bigTruck like a camera crew filming out side the put a noise filter over the mic, looks like a big fuzzy sponge, ive heard of using a thin sock to.

  • @104bigTruck

Put a strip of masking tape over the microphone holes on your cam. That should greatly reduce the wind noise you hear, but still be able to hear your engine.

  • is that his own truck?

  • @s172mch It is why?

  • @104bigTruck just curious. seems like no one owns nice trucks anymore. this one looks badass. thanks to epa there tryin to turn everyone green.

  • @s172mch I hear you! I am all about taking care of my surroundings and value it more than some greenie even at times but shoving this "green" "wicca" promoted religious agenda down everyones throats is getting very old.

  • @104bigTruck

thats the way you should do it! im sure you worked hard for this rig and setup. id love to get into logging!

  • I would love to take one of these Peterbilts and fab a truck bed for it. The only reason is so I can piss off those Environment Protection Assholes... err.. EPA.

  • Would have been awesome to be in that tunnel when he got off the gas to decelerate.

  • MUSIC TO MY EARS I LOVE THAT BARK

  • Everyone seems to have their opinions. Never hurt anything here.

  • Jake shifting.......... nice way to drop valves!!

  • sould be louder if you go past 2100 rpm when upshifting and jaking past 2100 rpm. i wouldve been just givin it the revs going through that town!! its not loud until you get death threats!!!

  • while watchin this it felt like my ears were poppig..did this happen to anyone else?

  • hey can you consider a ride along in cab vid man would appreciate it and send me a message if you do. thank you

  • Cool video. I was wondering about the Jake brake thing. Thanks for the explanation.Cant say Ive ever seen a truck going down the road from this angle. neat idea

  • Why are you using gas between the shifting ?

Sorry for the bad english.. bud it sound like the jake brake.

  • @nick8cilinder Jake shifting up that hill. It's alot steeper than the camera shows. The jake allows the motor to drop the RPMs faster for shifting. Some people don't think it's good for the truck but they are the ones who can't shift smoothly doing it.

  • @104bigTruck

Oh thanks for you're reaply ! now i know.

  • @nick8cilinder in a truck its better for the first gears shifted to use the jake

  • I love the view! It feels as though you are actually on the trailer!

  • sounds like a double de-clutch is that right?

  • I like the turbo whistle when ya let off the jakes

  • I love to drive a Semi-Truck though dont have any help currently to help push me into that cause I love the Sound of a Peterbuilt !

  • I love to drive a Semi-Truck though dont have any help currently to help push me into that cause I love the Sound of a Peterbuilt or a Transport with nice pipes to it!

  • That sounds awsome.

  • Does this have the 3406 or C15 motor?

  • @DanW900 3406

  • @104bigTruck

That right there is a motor! Anything before the EPA 2004 standards are the best.

  • @DanW900 It's been wonderful motor.

  • @DanW900 how does it cakkle like that

  • What I wanna know is why logs are going across the border unsawn.....what ever happened to value-added?

  • Thank God almighty for the lights now at the intersection, way too many close calls with trains and log trucks across the tracks.

  • i drive a log truck on and off the highway for a living i own sevral trucks if i caught one of my drivers shifting with the jake on i would fire there ass in a hurry. it is hard on the engine and everything from there back. and it does not help you get it in gear faster for all the dumbassess that replied to my first comment. this truck is a working piece of machinary it hasno need to go in gear quicker unless its a gutless piece of shit. so if you want to shift fast buy a camaro

  • @tailgatetrophy1 Youre full of shite too

  • @throat58 do what now?

  • Not sure why someone would trash this guy for shifting with the Jakes on. This is a good driver, he know what he is doing. I have seen people trying to shift with the Jakes on that doesn't know how what an F'ing mess. We have all took off from a red light and forgot the jakes were on, and Yes I have f'd up doing it.

But anyway this guy is smooth, he can drive my truck anytime.

  • Not sure who was trashing this guy for shifting with the jakes on. Just watch the whole video. This is a very good driver, I'll ride with him or he can drive my truck anytime he wants. And there's not many people I ride with! This driver isn't hurting anything!!!

  • you have to respect these guys this is a dangerous job r.ls.

  • What is the "Cranckkkkk" at speed shifting?

  • whats the point of this video

  • Thanks for the Ride!!! Great Video

  • What rears are in your truck 4.10 .4.11 or 4.33's

  • so... in the "majority of your life" have you driven off the pavement? Try it sometime, junior. you'd be one of those guys we pass... while you are in the ditch... all fucked up. Remember a couple of things, though. Don't ever again make the mistake of calling an logger lazy, or if you do, come down to log show in deming and do it. I'd like to meet you. And the other thing, log truck drivers (especially the one in the video) have forgotten more about driving than you'll ever know. so shut up.

  • @15sprintcar thata boy. DEMING! woop woop!

  • i like the video but leaving the jake on while shifting does not in any way make it so you can speed shift ive been truckin the majority of my life and i think its just a lazy man not wanting to reach to the dash and shut it off. on top of that its very destructive on the things called valves in the head

  • @tailgatetrophy1 Well ya better go get a second opinion because there are spots when you just cant shift from low to first loaded and jaking is a must. Never hurt anything because I do it well.

  • @104bigTruck im by no means an expert. but my dad drove truck since he could get his CDL and ive gone with him several times on 1000 mile trips, he always used the jake to shift, he used the clutch to take off, stop and not much more than that, and he never had any problems because of useing it

  • @trweaver88 thanks for the back up ;)

  • @tailgatetrophy1 read some comments he said he leaves the jakes on to kill the engine faster so he can get it in to gear quiker. dumbass.

  • it just sounds awesome more noise... way more noise.. also motorist can hear you better before they ever see you. where i live you can't use a jake brake. but it's

    sweet when you can.

  • @104bigtruck I got a hunch that the driver have some norwegian origins, am I right?? Tellefsen is a very common surname over here...

  • def just gave my subwoofer a workout !! nice

  • I drive for QuickX/DeckX/TransX, whats the pay difference on loghaulin?

  • BC Canada is so beautiful. I wish I knew people and had a job lined up there. I would move in a heartbeat.

  • @TheCottonTop Bring cash and lots of it!

  • that sounds sweet

  • I think I jhust pissed off my neighbors!!!!! Sweet sounding truck! Definitely one of the best I've heard!

  • what was the sound that was coming frome your rig at the beginning of the clip backfire or grindin gears?

  • @rawjerkin Jake brake!

  • @104bigTruck , why is the engine brake on while you are trying to GAIN SPEED!?

  • @NP535overdrive It isnt affecting the speed at all. It is a speed shifting way to kill the motor more quickly to get it it in gear.

  • @104bigTruck alot of ppl dont know that the think we are just stupid

  • @NP535overdrive Using jake retarder while shifting, allow to drop revolution quickly to change gear faster.

  • @NP535overdrive Jake Brake is set on Automatic.

  • @104bigtruck oh ok now i see

  • 51/2 cat, she sure sounds good.

  • BEAUTIFUL <3

  • im gettin the good side of the sound got a creative computer sound system with a 81/2 X 6 box

  • big cam tubo sound for the win

  • I love it, really neat riding along with the timber!

  • i know this video was in 2008, but now those type of stacks are not allowed in some states...

I hate you California.. it's like they don't want truckers to go in their state, lol

  • BAD ASS DUDE!!!!!

  • i love the sound of them stackes

  • Loving the Jake Brake!!!

  • Yas all missed the double shuffle boogie when Jeff hit the freeway and double jumped the gearbox on the jakes...classic move!

  • that 550 cat sounds good!

  • Jeff...do you set the load for the camera? I liked the video from under the load too..nice inventive work there!

  • Loving the ride from the loads point of view.

  • its lacking one thing.....lots of black smoke

  • I know someone that had these mufflers on a cummins and hollowed them out. He got busted and made him put a regular muffler underneath. People were tired of waking up everyday at 5am.

  • Great Video!!

  • That's very cool, best camera location I've ever seen.

Seeing the truck bounce and the driver shifting is awesome, not to mention the pipes.

    Great video!

  • purty sound lol nothing like it in the world

  • thats cool and all but dude sounds like shit when u shift

  • man do I miss truckin' !!

  • That sounds like a very healthy kitty cat, almost 3406E. i have a 99 shortnose pete w/an E-model in it and cab height 5" straits on it no mufflers

  • name off engine (i no caterpillar)

  • no you don't want to be log hauler There's no damn MONEY anymore......

  • What type of engine does it have?

  • 550 kitty

  • @rubberduck687 I think CAT 3406

  • @daltonauto Yeah it's a 3406E. The C-15 designation didn't come till 2000. However, I'm unsure what the difference is between the pre-emission C-15 and the 3406E.

  • does any of the company trucks have straight pipes?

  • My borther has 8" straights with a resonator. Mine is still LOUDER!

  • danm nice truck and exhaust. they must be tuned by length of pipes?

  • Nothing's tuned ! The mufflers are shot. lol

  • It sounds like after you turned onto the pavement, you forgot to turn off the jakebrake? as you let off throttle to shift, you can hear jake barking, thus loosing your RPM's for shifting?

  • Yup,
