Don't listen to anyone's negative comments about this interpretation. It's beautiful and you can really feel the emotion coming out of the signs. I've seen different interpretations but I really like this one a lot. I think you captured the essence of the song through sign, so you go girl.
@hotwaiter I really appreciate your comment so much :D I know it's not perfectly ASL, but this is my style and have had only good reviews on the clarity of it from my deaf/h.o.h. friends and family-- so it's something I am glad I could share~ I know how to use ASL in real conversation and interpreting live, but with music I like to mouth the words. When I do that it, it's difficult to sign without a little SEE mixed in...
Very simple interpretation and easy enough to understand. What you may want to do in the future is move the camera back a bit more. Sometimes the signs are getting cut off. When making ASL videos, it's always good to capture from the waist up.
@fireandice2021 yes, I realized that afterwards, but I was taping by myself and standing on my knees for a 3 takes ;) figured you can see the facial expressions well, but I see what you mean. Thank you so much for your suggestion!
I love sign language, I study LSB sign language of Brazil, "libras". I do not understand ASL, but I understand the emotion of the music of Adele. It is so beautiful and your signal is very beautiful. Kisses from Brazil
@marilyndarlingshow thank you, Marilyn! I have deaf parents & deaf uncles... lots of deaf/hard-of-hearing friends that have helped me along the way :)
Wow this is so perfect in so many ways. Only thing I hate is how ppl are trying to tell her whether she's wrong or right in her interpretation. First off, EVERYONE'S style of signing is different. Secondly, this is HER interpretation of the song...meaning that the interpretation won't always be universal. However she interprets the song is how SHE sees it, and now how YOU see it. Great job again :) I hope to become as good as you one day...
@abcdefghijohnly I'm so grateful for your comment. Thank you for taking the time to respond to my video. I used to feel embarrassed in my interpreting classes for my style and speediness, but since I've been interpreting for several deaf/h.o.h. (hard-of-hearing) friends since 2003 they've been the ones that have told me that they are impressed and love my style. So, it makes me realize that my way is acceptable to the majority of the deaf culture. Not the nit-pickers who are mean-spirited.
This absolutely beautiful!! The setting, the straight forward looking into camera, the fluid movements and choice of signs regarding ASL. I love that you added the gloss.. that was a nice touch.. Certainly hope to see more videos in the future :)
@johnbobj24 I'm sorry you feel that way. I have deaf parents and this is what I was taught by all my deaf family and friends. It's more PSE. God bless you!
SO WHAT GET OVER IT < IF A DEAF PERSON CAN UNDERSTAND IT AND ITS IN AMERICA ITS ASL! yes i get it asl it more of your own way ya ya ya okay but its still sign language and lots of deaf people still say asl when they are mostly using ESL
I like how fluid your movements are. I'd love to learn how to sign. It's such a hard class to find and the teacher who teaches it tends to be intercahangeable between the college campuses and the begininer and moderate classes. I find it absouletly fascinating that there is a language spoken entierely with the hands like this. You did a nice job.
You are so sweet! Thank you so much for the compliment :D It is hard to find quality, passionate people, although I have a lot to learn with ASL too.. I tend to do a lot of PSE, but it's ok because the majority watching are my hard-of-hearing friends and other students who use similar styles... I will have to make a lot more videos~
You did a beautiful job and thank you for your sensitive handling of a comment from a few months ago. I do wonder about the part about I wish nothing but the best for you..(you signed it as also, I think I would sign it as two, instead, it kind of changes the meaning, but is a bit more appropriate to the song, in my opinion.)
I really enjoyed thsi video I'm learning sign language here in Canada. And i think its awesome your sharing mmusic for everbody to enjoy wether their hearing, deaf, hard of hearing :) keep it up.
P.S- I like how you didn't sign in english, like some people's videos all though I do enjoy those too :)
@MsCKennedy11 thank you! I try to strive for more ASL because I know I can improve, but at the moment I'm more PSE (pigeon signed english). It's hard to transition since I know most people that use ASL tell me they like my style. I interpret mostly for hard-of-hearing friends.
i love this song you expressed the words really good i understood the words i been taking asl for this year twice so exciting to learn an language..thanks for sharing .
It´s really good!! @Kryptoniankousin I wish! Every sign language is different. I don't know Spanish and Spanish Sign Language. Maybe you can make a video of those that use it and I can watch to see what their signs are like.
I've been going through the different channels that showcase this in ASL on youtube and I thought you captured the "essence" of it beautifully. Really lovely.
@Gweedaw I'm sorry, but this is just a hobby of mine and I prefer signing songs that mean a lot to me. I don't know that song you're referring to... Happy late birthday :)
i know its just an hobby for you, but i saw on ur channel u ASL mail too for ppl who asks... American Sign Lenguage is different from Italian Sign Lenguage...so i thought u cud do a nice gesture as a gift and teach me to "sing my fav songs in english"... thanks anyway! ur awsome
if you don't like "Goodnight moon" by Shivaree... maybe you wud like to do "On my Own" from Les Miserables, im sure tht song is more on ur chords...hope to "hear" from you soon :D
I love sign language, a girl in my sister's class is deaf and she rides the bus Im on. Im in private school so I ride with all grades. She is infourth grade. She says being deaf is wonderful, but that is because she has hearing implants so she can hear some. Shesays that if a fight brews in her house that she doesn't want to listen 2, all she has 2 do is take off her implants. She says shelikes being deaf and thats why I admire her. She is thankful for what she has and not what she doesnt.
@deafmom22 thank you! The hardcore ASL users tend to dislike this method, but I think it's what the younger generation want to incorporate the English with the signs...
I love it. Just a pet-peave of mine, many people make the mistake of saying or thinking she says "I wish nothing but the best for you, too." but she says "for you two."
@BabyFarley91 thanks Farley :) I found the lyrics online, so I followed that... That's how I feel about Rolling in the Deep- the part where it says "I'll let your SHIP bare" where everyone puts the bad "s" word.
So beautiful that you help others to enjoy the music that most people take for granted, respect to you and those like you, making a difference to other peoples lives :)
@Kuriix yes, there are signs in pretty much every language. and they are usually all different signs but with of course some similarities. this is asl (american sign language) and it wouldn't be referred to as english either. it would be classified as it's own language because it has it's own dialect, grammar, and etc etc. :)
@Kuriix yes there are. almost every country has their version of sign language. on you tube look up the japanese sign language. it is very cool to watch.
@Kuriix Yes. Different countries have their own sign language. Sometimes they are similar, but for example Japanese sign language has an extremely different alphabet. There is a supposed 'international' sign language... but it is not often used.
I am just so touched on this video.. I always wonder how it would be to be deaf.. I have a friend she is deaf. Her name is Ally. She said that deaf is like hell. Yhu can't get out of it, no matter how hard yhu traii. && I have a friend... her name is Elizabeth. She has 2 deaf parents she had to learn sign language... && I had always prayed about to all the people like this. I wish sometimes if God would give me that instead of them. If I could, have the power, I'll transfer any disorder to me...
@musiclovergothic That's very sweet of you :) Well, many Deaf (meaning proud to be Deaf, not "hearing-impaired") are don't like they're labeled "diabled". If you were born hearing and then turned deaf later in life then it would impair your day-to-day life. Although Deaf face discrimination & oppression, they're usually proud of their culture and language just as any ethnic background. So, don't feel bad for their deafness, but more the hardships they face. We all have weakness & strengths.
@Musiclovergothic for one deaf people can do everything hearing people can do but hear. It is NOT a disorder. I myself am a CODA like your friend and don't you even think for a second that i need to be prayed for because of it. I would not change it for the world. Before posting such comments you need to educate yourself because in the deaf community there is so much pride that it is unbelievable. So i am going to pray that if i could have the power to cure you from such ignorance, i would.
@amsharpe714 I didn't mean to offend you pardon my english. I didn't mean deaf is a disorder. I said that I'll transfer ANY disorder to me. I wasn't just talking about being deaf. I was talking about having a "special "thing. I used to have that... so please don't get mad at me. Sorry that I put other things in a wrong way. I was just starting to finish my specialness as you guys say. And thank you for the prayer, even when you mean't it in a bad way. Just again, sorry that I have offended you.
@Musiclovergothic Being deaf isn't seen as being disabled dear.. It is a way of life; another culture. "Audism" is a prevalent thing among the hearing, and it looks like your friends seem to have been affected by it too. Being hearing is just as much of a disadvantage as an advantage. Deaf culture is the best <3.
