I had one of these species a long time ago. His name was Animal and was so aggressive I couldn't handle him :( but what a gorgeous tarantula he was. I love to watch him hunt and crawl around his habitat. Rose hairs are great for handling but very boring. You got lucky! Enjoy your girl :)

it can happen that they bite. depending on species how defensive they are. this starburst seems quite calm and docile but he is just letting it do its thing. not sticking my finger near mine since it got a i kill you attitude.

in the end its stil the owners responsibillity if he/she gets bitten. if u "read" your spiders you'll be fine. tho keep in mind they are still wild animals and will never be 100% tame. i got some i can handle and some that will bite if i get to close

Dear eaglerouge, I have three T's atm, two rosies and a A. Vic, when holding a T it is like nothing else you will feel. They have very small hooks on the ends of their feet and it feels like velcro almost, it is awesome just make sure if they flick hairs or raise up the front legs to leave them be. Let them go where they want to and do not force em, I will post a video tonight if you want or respond and I am still awake.

1.Tarantula's dont have bones as you have said. In fact they are quite delicate creatures and even a small fall could rupture the abdomen and leak vital hemolymph.
