Yes, so true about the word "infestation". A powerful word that I surely don't mean to mis-use, but I've had a bit of difficulty coming up with live models, and surely it's maybe not the time of year to hunt for bugs (it's cold). I've noticed that one variety of moth does not have this (fungus) or what ever it is. I'll post a vid. Your bug pictures are beautiful by the way :)
I've been looking at a lot of bugs, your pictures don't seem to show the similar infestation that I'm seeing in almost every bug I photograph. Great shots! When were these taken?
Thanks. I'm not sure about the "infestation" you describe. If your bugs were found dead maybe they have some fungus growing on them, or maybe they picked up some debris from the ground. All of these insects were collected alive. I took the pics last winter, and the insects were collected at various times over the last 10 years.
