The "point" of Dylan's songs (if there is one, which I seriously doubt) is that many of them are universal..... This version isn't even on the same map as his original..... It's almost a new song, but it's flat out wonderful, IMHO!

I think what needs to be remembered is this song is styled after old, old traditional ones. With that in mind, this vocalist does a very good job because she's inflecting herself, whatever emotions it brings to her heart into the way she's singing it. Altho I too prefer Nanci Griffith's version, I am very appreciative of this one too. I'm not trying to ride the fence or anything. I just enjoy what each put into it and how it makes me see the song from different perspectives.

This is a very good cover of Boots. The great thing about You tube is you get to hear so many different covers. It' ok if you don't like it but to say her voice is painful is rude and shows that you are missing a musical ear.
