  • Who are the domestics

  • Wow how many times have I cried to those closing credits the most magical film ever, the Sherman Brothers are geniuses.

  • @cinebird

Goodbye Mary Poppins don't stay away too long.

  • @cinebird I totally agree!

  • Thank you so much for this opening clip. Back in 1981 I was a college freshman working partr-time and living at home. My parents had just purchased their first VCR (a top-of-the-line Curtis Mathis) and they, my brothers and I were all eager to buy movies to play in it. One weekend we wound up at a local music store that had recently begun stocking videos as well. My folks settled on "Patton", my brothers got "The Blues Brothers" and I bought "Mary Poppins" :-D

  • 0:00 - 4:22 is bursting with memories and is especially beautifal ♥ ♥ ♥

  • After this the Stars went on to Musical Films equally as popular:

Julie Andrews did The Sound Of Music

Dick Van Dyke did Chitty Chitty Bang Bang

David Tomlinson did Bedknobs & Broomsticks

All those Films had a Musical Scoring by Poppins Composer, Irwin Kostal.

  • @FAWLTYWORZELMELDREW

And Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and Bedknobs and Broomsticks had the Sherman Brothers, also from Poppins

  • no problem

  • Thank you for uploading this clip

  • @mrjakelong Your very welcomed!

  • I Can Tell You Just One Thing.

Julie Andrews was Mary Poppins and she Won the Academy Award for Best Actress.

    I Love Her for that.

But She Was Very Disappointed because she wanted to be in the adaptationfor the Big Screen of My Fair Lady as Eliza Doolitle, role played by her in Broadway, but the role was given finally to Audrey Hepburn.

So, she did Poppins and Won the Oscar.

Hepburn wasn´t even nominated because when she sings, she was dubbed by Marni Nixon.

    Congratulations, Julie

  • What if Mary Poppins met Jeannie?

  • RIP Blake Edwards Julie Andrews' husband. I hope she's doing alright now that she lost him. It's sad.

  • Shes my number one favorite actress, because she was Mary Poppins herself, and because she had a wonderful voice, and she was beautiful.

  • @RingoandCarlin

Mine too, and for the same reasons, buddy

  • @Mortadelo658 Same here, also Barbara Eden is the best too after Julie Andrews.

  • Check This Out, People:

    Everybody Loves Mary Poppins.

    Specially Me.

But when She is sitted in that cloud:

¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡ HER BAG AND HER UMBRELLA TRIED TO SCAPE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • umbrella power!

  • This is more than just a fairy tale. Its plot is meaningful and convincing to all of us. And Julie Andrews is the perfect choice for the role of Mary Poppins. Every song she sings is marvelous and melodious. Thanks for posting this clip.

  • @Operalover12002 It is a wonderful and magical film. Glad you enjoy the clip :)

  • @Operalover12002

    You Said It, Buddy.

No Wonder She Won the Academy Award for Best Actress.

Unfortunetly, She had surgery a few years ago - throat surgery - and she was never able to reclaim her voice completely.

    So She Can´t sing Anymore

  • @Mortadelo658 I know it's sad. I love her voice.

  • @RingoandCarlin

    You Said Buddy.

    Is Really Sad.

    I Love Her Voice Too.

But We Have the Pleasure to see her singing in Movies like this one or The Sound Of Music

  • @Mortadelo658 I know, she was good in them.

  • The opening music in Mary Poppins is one of my favorites (101 Dalmations and The Aristocats openings being my other ones). Disney composers/song writers are certainly superb at their craft!

  • @phbtonyou And so much of the wonderful Disney music of that time period came from the one and only Sherman Brothers.

  • Most, if not all, of Disney's work is based on preexisting work, mostly in the form of books. There was a series of Mary Poppins books way back when, probably years before this movie was made.

  • at 18 when I first saw this movie (1965) I fell in love with mary poppins.

I guess I still love her.

  • @azzy314159 Me too!

  • @LoreneFaith

I think Every One who saw this Master Piece Will Be in Love with Mary Poppins Forever.

    That happened to me

  • @azzy314159 And me too!!!

  • This movie was released in 1964.

Or do you mean you've seen this movie in 1965?

  • @Damnitguy yes around '65. And "feed the birds" still brings tears to my eyes.

  • @azzy314159

Cool, my favorites are "Step in Time", followed by "Feed the Birds".

I watched this movie around 1996 or 1997. Now I'm 21 and still this movie is beautiful.

    Walt Disney is the best!!!

  • @Damnitguy And I am 65. May beautiful melodies follow you where ever you may go son. ♥ and Peace.

  • mary poppins!!!when i was younger i used to watch it every day after school...oh those moments ....lying on the sofa with my mum and dad and watching amazing Disney films!

  • I think that Julie Andrews was my childhood crush, though i could be mistaken, that and also i think Carol Cleveland was my second childhood crush, once again i might be mistaken i don't know.

  • This is one of the greatest disney movies of all time. Love it to death.

  • this movie is amazing.

I have 22 years and is my favourite.

    The music is a masterpiece.

    Also the film

  • I totally agree. It has such a magical quality to it and takes me away every time I hear it. The magic of The Sherman Brothers.

  • Ah these song are not made by human, there's some kind of magic.

i really do LOVE it, it touches me hard and make me nostalgic, i love it all i love it i love it... et J'adore Dick Van Dyke, oh sweatheart... n' all others

  • poor Mathew Garber he died at 21! sort of eating bad meat while travelling to India in 1976 R.I.P. Hermione Baddele Matthew Garber David Tomlinson Reta Shaw Reginald Owen Don Barclay Arthur Treacher Elsa Lanchester Ed Wynn Jane Darwell Dallas McKennon R.I.P. AND ALL REST IN PEACE :')
  • Walt Disney's Masterpiece!

  • 4:04 Best ending credit joke ever!

  • best movie 4-ever

  • No she doesn't live in the clouds. This cloud scene was actually copied from another opening scene from a Disney feature... Dumbo. Remember when the stork puts down Dumbo on the cloud and he keeps falling through the cloud and the stork keeps pulling Dumbo back up on the cloud while he looks at his directions?

  • @rdmatos17

You are right about the history of Dumbo.

But let all the things clear.

    Where exaclty Mary lives ?

Because she can fly and she cames from the sky acording the winds of the east

  • DOES SHE LIVE IN THE CLOUDS THEN???

  • That's a good question. That especcally make you wonder how she uses the john.ll

  • One of the best openings/overtures I have ever heard from a Disney movie. In my top 3 Disney movies of all time!

  • It is beautiful and makes me feel dreamy every time I hear it.

  • exactly!!

  • I Love It.

  • check out the british empire in her hey day=/

  • My favorite movie of all time!

  • I love the intro to this, I wish childhood could be forever

  • Thanks to classic Disney like this, at least we can feel like a child again :)

  • sssoooo beautifulllll ! wonderful mary poppins !

  • Mary Poppins is one of the greatest movies ever, I love it.

(Ps: The books are very very cool, too, I think every fan had should read it. :) )

  • A Beautiful film from start to finish. :-)

  • It certainly is and will always be a timeless Disney masterpiece!

  • a masterpiece!

  • I see the 1990 WDP logo at the beginning. I must've came off from either the 1997-9 WDMC prints of the film, the 2000 WDGCC version, or the 2004 40th anniversary edition.

  • the reveal of dick van dycke playing the senior bank manager is very disney cool.

  • Yes he did a great job in that role as well and was as always very amusing! Dick Van Dyke is a very talented actor. He still is as he proved in his latest role in "A Night At The Museum"

  • Dick Van Dyke also played the old woman on the docksides when Jane and Michael are running from their father at the bank.

  • Wow, that is amazing. I will have to look for that when I watch it again. Thanks for the great trivia!

  • That Wasn't Dick Van Dyke. That Was Betty Lou Gerson.

  • Who I believe voiced Cruella De Ville in 101 Dalmations

  • bette davis or joan crawford..lol

  • that was betty lou gerson

  • But Dick Van Dyke did also play Mr. Daws (spelling) the banker.

  • mr daws senior actually

  • David Tomlinson (Mr. Banks) also has a second role - he plays the talking bird head on Mary's umbrella handle at the end of the film
