Before the current Venezuelan government came into power. Mostly the "rich oil stockholders" who make multimillions of dollars got most of the money. Now the people of Venezuela and the poor around the world benefit from this instead of just a few wealthy individuals. How can you be against this? To be against this, you have to have millions of dollars and not care about people freezing. (just my opinion, you may leave this up a few months. Thank you.)

Considering Chavez has single handidly ruined the economy of Venezuela they need the oil revenues to keep it afloat. If he wasn't such a fool and wannabe dictator he would have let the economy grow and with the growing oil revenues the poor would be much better off. But no, he is only interested in total control so ruining the economy and him controlling the oil revenues gives him that control. Thankfully the Venezuelan people are waking up.

We do. It's called the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP). It is a start, but needs to be beefed up and made easier for families to qualify. Tell your congressman to support increased heating aid to states who agree to not accept Chavez Oil.

Why doesn't the Venezuelan government help their own people first? It's obvious that this charitably work is only a way to put the US poor against their government. Hugo Chavez doesn't care about the US poor, he's just using them.

Exactly. I will say this... This program was started in 1979 by Kennedy under the name Citizens Energy. It uses many partners both foreign and domestic, not just Citgo, to provide affordable energy to the poor. Kennedy made a huge mistake by selling out to Chavez and becoming his mouthpiece. For years Venezuela quietly donated to Citizens Energy. Now the program is being used by Chavez as a political tool.

Just to remind everyone who has been drinking from the Limbaugh lemonade, Venezuala is not a monarchy, Chavez was democratically elected. The US supported a military overthrow of an elected president to install a dictatorship there all the while spouting off about supporting democracy in the Middle East where our "allies" are far from democratic.
I can't understand why people would be upset that anyone is offering to help people out with heating oil.

Letting people- including the poor- keep more of what they earn would be much more effective- the elderly man in the commercial (stated needing heat for 'my house') will probably pay about 6-7 times more for taxes on his home than the cost of home energy.

I know several people who have been happy to leave from these so-called friends in Venezuela, this is about Chavez trying to spread influence by exploiting the demographic known as 'the poor'. The only ones in his country who are not 'the poor' are those in charge- just ask the opinions of those who have been able to escape from there.

This encomium of Chavez and our "friends" in Venezuela shows how Kennedy is nothing more than a traitor who will step on our dignity in order to further his own political agenda. I find this commercial to be deplorable and denigrating to each and every American.
Chavez doesn't want to help the poor, he wants to drum up support for his anti-Democratic government and his increasingly authoritarian rule.
