Interesting vid guys...I guess I never really thought about bends...some notes I bend up some I bend down and with whatever finger happens to be there at the time. All I can really say is my bends so practiced for so many years I can't even tell someone else the how...thanks for mentioning that part, it just takes time.
You guys are briliant. I have learned so much just from watching your stuff on YouTube and elsewhere - and you do it with humour , infectious enthusiasm and fun. Like you really enjoy what you are doing. Keep up the good work, take a bow guys and keep rockin! Much appreciated.
Just saw this "after" your barre chord flick. Both much appreciated, thank you! As a self taught wanna be player I probably developed some bad habits, especially a low tolerance for frustration. Probably the hardest thing to work through and why so many of us give up, besides the pain. Acoustic guitar still a killer on the ole fingertips, especially when bending strings on the 1st and 2nd fret. Thanks for sharing.
Nice vid guys! I would love to see a part 2 with some demos of 1/4, 1/2, whole and pre-bends. My two cents: I think it's important to turn off the distortion when learning bends as it makes it easier to hear. I found it more difficult to bend on a single coil (Strat) vs. my humbucking Les Paul as the Fendersingle coils have a lot of attack. Muting is important. Good point Griff!
If you've studied Jamie Andreas' instruction you would say that the bend comes from your forearm muscle, though she also mentions that there is also a finger only technique used in certain circumstances.
i just started learning minor pentatonic scales and my problem is that if i bend a string i end up with a note thats outside the particular box pattern that im doing. for example G minor pent scale 3rd position. (1-4,1-3,1-3,1-3,1-4,1-4)
You guys are my two favorite teachers. Great to see both of you jamming together. You have got to do this more often. A live gig in downtown san diego would be ideal in my humble opinion. You are both a wealth of knowledge. Thank you.
awesome guys ;9)
