Music waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too loud! Can't hear what Jose is saying! Liked his recipe - pretty much the same as my in-laws make, but wish I could hear him. We get that this is a MEXICAN recipe - lose the music, por favor.
This video was really helpful! I'm planning my first tamale party for December. I have a bunch of friends who are very excited about it. I can't wait. Thanks for posting this!
Hi.Good video.I love tamales.I'm getting ready to make my third batch ever. They've turned out great every time so far.I have a question though.Im also a home gardener.I'm going to be harvesting my first corn today. Can I use the FRESH corn husks out of my garden tomorrow,or do I HAVE to go buy the dried ones? Will it effect the taste or texture of the tamales?Like I say,Im planning on cooking tomorrow,so anyone who could offer me a suggestion quickly would be appreciated. Thanks!
@jachapez maybe too late but it is OK to use FRESH corn husks, i do it all the time, and that skips you the step to soak the husks, and are more easy to handle while you spread the masa ;)
@NIHAGHULAM He used a spice mix.A good mix to use would include...Salt,Black Pepper,Chili Powder,Paprika,Cumin Seed (fresh toasted and ground if possible),Ground Corriander (optional),Ground Red Pepper,Mexican Oregano,Bay Leaf (remove later). And I personally add my dried chillis right in the stewing meat.I also like to toast my entire spice mix right befor adding to the pot...it seems like I get a deeper flavor that way.
to make 3 dozen tamales how many pounds of masa do i need?? also when mixing the masa how much chili and lard would i need to mix together?? thank you
In privious marriage to mexican lady, I was exposed to the all the delights of mexican cooking. Every xmas the families would get together and tons of tamales. I have since remarried and live in Wash DC and my Panamanian wife asked to make tamales. She had no experiance and all I did was watch in those years gone bye. It is because of video's like your that helped me to make the best tamales I have ever eaten. Now I am sure this will be a continued tradition in my home. Thank you.
this video is good but the guy in the first half of the video was speaking really low and the music was too loud, whats up with that, second the guy was not being detailed when he was adding the ingredients he was just putting stuff into the pan, and the third of all those muertos in the background where not the business but overall the lady was really good. good video tho.
you right. However, i must say that the video has been corrupted and also we are not professional videographer or cooks. do not take it so personal, there are more and better videos on youtube for you to learn how to make tamales. anyway thanks for your comments. next cooking video, if any, will be done much better than this one

can a vegetable based grease be used in the masa instead of lard?
BigLoveZone 2 years ago
By the way, you can use vegies instead of meat to fill the tamales. You can use chicken or fish instead of read meat too.

Considering he's a U.S. citizen.... crossing the border obviously has nothing to do with making tamales.
This is a fantastic video with beautiful artwork!
