Props for learning the whole song with all the fills and everything. The part at 2:03 is just fingerpicking on the same chords but if done right sounds fancy. It's one of my favorite parts so that's why the critique.

As for SG vs. LP, you have to have both.

Telecaster! That's what Page used on the famous recording. He later used an SG double neck on the live version that you see. But that version you are guitar-eokie-ing with is a telecater.

its all a matter of opinion, if you like really light guitars that sound great especially distorted. get an SG and if you like heavy guitars that also sound great but with a tad bit more sustain get a LP. in my opinion, if your gonna play heavier music with more distortion get an SG and if your gonna play clean music with less distortion get a LP. but hey, there's no law against getting both :D

regardless of what kind of guitar was used to record the original song, the LP us a bit too deep and chunky for this song. the SG has a much lighter sound comparable to a fender. the LP doesnt sound bad, but its not my preference at all.

in addition, notice the difference in pickups from both guitars. the LP has a set of humbuckers, probably alnico 2. the SG has a set of P-90s....two VERY different sounds.

Fender and Gibson you can't compare. Of course you know that. Gibsons are well known for thier humbucker sounds and tuno-matic tailpiece bridge while Fender is well known for using single coils and tremolos. Fenders are usually known for thier more light punchy sound while Gibson is known for its heavy chunky style playing. A Gibson Les paul will leave a welt on your shoulder (which I like) and a strat will not. SG very light. Telecaster sort of heavy. @ myXmusicXaddiction

not even a fair competition a les paul studio has no chance against a classic sg, simply because the sg was built like a standard but with a different truss rod cover, the studio has different pick ups, different wood, different frets, it's a completely 1 sided competition.

Personally I like SGs better but that's just my opnion

Same wood, and same frets. The only thing that the Studio has that's really different from a Les Paul Traditional is the 490R and 498T pups instead of the '57 Classic and '57 Classic Plus.

However, that's a pretty big difference. the '57s are MUCH better pickups.
