  • i love doing gamblers with my thoroughbred! ian and his mare are an inspiration!!

  • WOW. That was one incredibly impressive ride.

  • love ian miller! i need a horse like mistral :) lol

  • Wow. Binary really saved his rider's skin on half the jumps, easily. Great great horse....rider, not so much.

  • Jennifer Foster's husband Danny foster is know for his course bulding skills he biulds many of the Kubota Cup courses on the series in Canada

  • OK, maybe I've missed something essential - But is this an accumulator round? I take it by the fact that the riders can jump a different fence if they refuse, and then try the same fence again it's not a regular show jumping round? Sorry!

  • Apparently you have missed something... like the title, entry frame, and info box, lol.

    It's a Gambler's Choice class.

If you're not familiar: it's basically a course-less round where each fence is worth a pre-set number of points, and can be jumped twice, but points are only awarded if the rails stay up. The rider must figure out how to get the most amount of points within the time allowed.

Once all points are accumulated, the rider has the option to jump the joker fence, for bonus points.

  • Er, don't think so, it just says it's a 'Gamblers Choice' round - Never heard that phrase over here because I'm English and we would probably call this an accumulator ;) Though in ours you have to do the set course, you can't really choose which way you go! Seems an interesting riding concept :)

  • We have both, though the latter is usually only seen at lower levels.

  • Excellent ride on the last one. Loved his bending at the end - crowd pleaser for sure. He did it twice! haha.

LOVED Jennifer's horse. What a saint and so cute. If only all horses were honest like that lol too bad she had a bad round. such a cool horse..I won't say anything negative about the riding because I've never watched her until now. Still love her horse though! :)

  • Yes, a wise conclusion on your part. :)

As said, Foster's not a bad rider... just that she'd just returned from maternity, and this was a completely new horse for her. Combine the two, and it's really no wonder they had a shakey round.

But then again, most riders were using this class to school anyway. About the only doubly-experienced combos in this class would've been Margie & Land of Kings and Sheila Burke & Draven.

  • Then it's completely understandable on her part. Everyone has a rough time in riding at some point whether its a day, week, or maybe a whole season. It happens. I bet they're a brilliant team now.

Without a doubt, this must have been very fun to watch :)

  • Not Ian Millar of Idle Dice fame?? I love Captain Canada.

  • She's not really saying 'Oh, these are TERRIBLE riders.' Every rider and horse have their off day. Every rider knows that.

  • 1.25 Is that the see saw!?

  • 1:25 to 1:35 he should of not gotten mad at his horse cause he wasted 10 secs and made his horse super excited... btw whipping dosent help ANYTHING!!!!!

i luv this vid tho otha than that thnxs 4 postin

  • 1:28 Oh stop flipping out horsie IM going to whip you now to get you to calm down! Thats sure will help!!

  • get over the whip

    it encourages them to jump!!!!!!!!!!

    everyone has different options

  • JENNIFER FOSTER IS AN ABSOLUTELY AMAZING RIDER, i dont have a clue what the heck you guys are talking about.

  • The video makes no comment on her individual status as a rider, it only laments this particular ride... which was HORRIBLE by any stretch of the imagination, and that's further corroborated by the tons of timber on the arena floor, and the dead-last ranking when it was all said and done.

  • Wow, that second rider really didn't do much but point the horse at the jumps. That horse sure did save her. Ian's amazing, of course. lol. go Canada! :D

  • actually, she just trained the horse quite well and thats why it "looks" like she just pointed the horse at the jumps, because she is so good at riding, she makes it look effortless...

LEARN what your talkin bout before you said anything next time

  • Are you kidding me with this?

This horse has to save her on half of the distances here (even the commentator notes how unusually generous he is on that regard), so I'm not exactly sure where you're getting the "looks ... because she is so good" nonsense. She also commits a series of other mistakes that earned her the LOWEST score of anyone in the entire competition.

I realize that this was a new mount and she'd recently returned from maternity, but this was by no means an exemplary ride.

  • Exactly, Shes not... a good rider what so ever. Even I could do better than her and and Iv only jumped 3'3 bareback lol

  • WOW that third horse is gorrgouss!!!!!!

  • i love how the last guy did that line twice.. back when the show was in horse show!

  • Ian Millar's horse looks a lot more inexperienced/young than Jennifer Foster's, and he sure did a much, much better job! Go figure... Go Captain Canada!

  • Two words.... BAD ASS!

I love Ian...such a quiet ride compared to the other two...those were so 'busy' and BLAH haha

thanks for posting all these vids!

  • welcome :)

  • ian is so awesome. His dapple grey is extremely talented which just a hint of fastness, which ian handled well.

  • Indeed, and she had a ton of jump...

also, keep in mind that she was pretty green here. I really would like to know what became of her, I lost track of her career pretty much after this show.

  • what happened to Ian's mount did he sell her because i fallow ian pretty cloly and haven't heard much from that mare

  • He showed her, mostly in Canada, up until 1999, from what I can tell... but I essentially lost track of her career after this show.

Shame too, because she seemed like a real talent.

  • whoo go ian...that was an amazing round thanks 4 posting this :}

  • the gray horse is amazing!

  • ...which one:

the one who continually saved his rider's behind, or the one who won? ;)

  • ...see if you can count the number of times that Binary Bit saves his rider. Hint: it's more than two!
