  • nice speech from grimlock.

  • A new series I've got to watch. >:)

  • i must agree with blitz this is corny and really could have been better. I think the good old g1 was alot less corny and much better

  • @TRNJAIRSOFT I am but one man. G1 was made with a very large team of animators, and they were paid for it. I did this for fun. If you don't like it, fine. But comparing the work of one single animator to the work of a whole team of paid animators, is like comparing a middle school science project and saying Stephen Hawking does better. Ya dig? ;-)

  • @PepsimusP oh damn. i didnt know you made this.. lol my bad. i thought this was an official production. as for one man.. then this is great. I had a misconception

  • @TRNJAIRSOFT No problem :-) I've grown a thick skin over the years.

  • just though you might like to know how awesome this is for me! i am a dissabled transformers fan whose never really been able to read the comics because the print's too small. everyone has told me to read war within but, as i've said, i've never been able to! so the fact that you've animated it and added voices is amazing! because now i have access to it. i hope you do more transformers comics and others too. i know this sounds gushy, but this is one of the gratest things i've ever seen

  • 9/11!!!!!

  • I actually have this comic book series and I have to say that you did an excellent job on bringing it to life!

  • Awesome I loved the comic and was searching reviewes for war within grimlock figure and found this. Prime job! Best motion comic I've seen!

  • @w4t3rw4g0n Thanks--I appreciate it!

  • @tampalicious I need to finish a paying animation gig first, but I will return to this, never fear! That said, if you like the art style of this, you should like my new project--it has the same artist as War Within!

  • reminds me of transformers war for cybertron

  • Comment removed

  • great jobs guys!!!!

  • more people need to see this

  • cool a diagnostic drone

  • did u make this, its pretty sweet

  • @Dinobot2468 I animated it, but it was originally a comic book by Dreamwave

  • is this from the actual war within comic series????

  • Awesome video! I enjoyed it very much:) I think it's very well done.

  • awesome

  • Dialogue volume is too quiet compared to other audio. Overall, a good representation of Simon Furman's book.

  • Kind of like Grimlock's voice. Fits him well... just wish he spoke in his more primitive way "Me want a status report!"

    Anyway, very nice work.

  • Congratts - I found this by accident, and I'm really glad I did. This is excellent work! I collected the War Within comic when it came out. This work is a marvellous testiment to the comic and the TF's universe. How great is it to see a hardcore T'formers adventure in this format! This is brilliant work. You and everyone involved has done an awesome! Great stuff!!!

  • Really awesome work, some people can't get the comic books so this is SO awesome!

  • Wow this is great. Great effort

  • wow this is good to be self made 10 star rating outa 5

  • i want a copy of this..... is that a possibility?;)

  • whats with grimlock he sonds so smart in this how come he is so dumb now?

  • Comic book Grimlock is more like a tough, war general. Cartoon Grimlock is a very different character. The comic book and cartoon Transformers, while similar, are different story lines

  • @Pepsimus During the 1980's,those dinobots was modeled not only with 5 different dinosaur bodies, but also not having the Intelligence as well, The Grimlock you see on Cybertron is of a different universe-I have the MARVEL 1980's TRANSFORMERS comics when The ark *MODIFIES 5 autobots as dinobots millions of years before both factions got revived from volcano eruption* Basicly, the comic explains those dinobots was sent out on Prehistoric Earth to stop SHOCKWAVE who landed on Earth & they beat him

  • @OLDSCHOOLHHSEX True, but that's in Marvel comics. Dreamwave and IDW are a different take altogether.

  • @PepsimusP Riught, out of curiousity,I bought several DreamWave and IDW when the DreamWave comics was dis-continued and IDW took over. What happen here is that DreamWave took up where the Marvel comics G1 Transformers left off, when dealing with a comic storyline, that timeline has *ANYTHING GOES* hell, look at the Marvel comics Secret Wars thing/or those ULTIMATES parraell Universe, where Nick Fury is black, thats the type of thing where that Time Continueum thing goesThrough Looking Glass

  • Blitz--I don't see any videos created by yourself on your page. But if you think you can do better, by all means, please do so. Put your money where your mouth is.

  • @Pepsimus dont mind him his a dumbass.

  • @Pepsimus go look at my page now and theres more coming. oh and btw if ur not open to criticism dont upload anything dipshit

  • I'm very impressed!

  • wow amazing

  • why is there not a photo of sentinel prime? i always wondered what he looked like.

  • well there are actuall photos of him by different artist, take by example IDW´s megatron origin miniseries you should really check them out, that sentinel looks totally badass

  • Nerd!!!!! =D this is beast!

  • Wow, Grimlock is kinda badass here. But Bumblebee kinda looks like an old man.

  • @dhathor

And Grimlock was very different then. the only connection is not only his paint scheme. but him being a warmonger (and his hatred against Optimus Prime has its reason beyond personal, Grimlock viewed Optimus Prime as being "Weak, Inferior" leader because Prime chose to "flee" rather than "Fight till the last man" while grimlock believes that he as never recognizes what fear is is the essence of leadership)

At then Grimlock speaks like any other Transformers.

  • Wow, this is fantastic! can't wait for episode 2

  • Wait no longer--episode 2 itself was just posted earlier today

  • megatron sounds like vegeta from dragonball

  • ye i love this version of grimlock

  • great job pepsimus! i wish you'd also do the 2nd part--- the one with The Fallen on it.

  • So... This looks a whole lot like the sequel to Megatron Origins?

  • In some ways... except that the comic was created three or four years previously by a different comic book company.

Episode 2 should be complete within weeks now, for those wondering :-)

  • oh ok! Thanks for clearing it up! Because you know, "Megatron to all decepticons: Sentinel as been terminated" part led me to think that.

  • What did you use to make this?

Im learning how to make Animations also :D.

  • Used Adobe Photoshop with Sony Vegas, primarily.

  • Grimlock in the comics is an infinitely more interesting character than the buffoon in the comics.

In comic lore Grimlock is a warrior and millitarist, his relationship with Prime and the dynamic between them (frequent disagreement over morals but a grudging mutual respect) would be electrifying were it to be on the big screen.

  • this excelent!

  • hey, did you change the voice?

  • fucking awesome after seeing the shit movies its nice to watch wut transformers realy is

  • dude did you make this

  • Animated it, yes. Dreamwave made the original comic.

  • have you ever seen animated?

  • this looks pretty cool, not a bad job using the DW comic art, the lasers could've looked better tho.... to bad theirs not a cartoon of transformers out now that has artwork just like this, hopefully they come out with one after the "animated" series is over

  • Due to popular demand, I removed the annotations... seems quite a few people did not know how to turn them off. Oh well :-)

Not sure about this being "better than G1," but I'll take a compliment any day lol

  • Nah, it is good but not better than G1

I can't name a Cartoon/Comic (neither from the 80's, 90's or new ones) that is better than the G1 serie.

  • Well yeah the thing I said was from my point of view so.

  • i said it before and i say it again: Don Figueroa´s art and design totally kicks ass. He really showed great talent by reinventing all the gen 1 characters and sticking to their characteristics and basic design but at the same time designing them from scratch and making them still transformable. Maybe i would have enjoyed the Bay movie more if Don would have made the designs?

  • Yeah... it would have been awsome... cause if they hired Don to do the production art then it would have meant they actually knew somthing abut the subject matter from the beginning.

  • what really disappointed me while i watched the movie was how bad the characterization and onscreen-presence of the TFs was. After watching it i could not remember how any of the bots looked besides prime and bumblebee. And all the characters were so replacable. In that department the animated movie was way better, for example the few seconds that Ironhide is seen tell us more than bay could tell us in his movie where ironhide has much more screen time. Like said Don is great at designing bots.

  • Nicely done! This reminds of the old Captain America cartoons and the Freedom Force PC games but with a modern touch.

Highly artistic but would be better without the annotations.

  • Annotations are awful. I turned them off which helped. Next time, just leave them out and you'll have a masterpiece.

However, I do not understand the continuity....Grimlock should not even have been invented yet.

  • the original cartoon is used more as a blueprint, they dont stick to it 100%. a lot of times they they find ways of making middle ground between the toy lines and the cartoons, (and also the comics). War Within grimlock is also a lot smarter than the cartoon version. i dont think DW ever got around to explaining the dinobots' continuity before they went broke.

  • how i turn the off?!

  • Turn off the annotations you mean? Click the button that looks like an "up" arrow in the bottom right hand corner. Then, scroll up to the "turn off annotations" button. Voila!

  • Grimlock recives the matrix and becomes Grimlock-Prime

  • really? tell me more

  • @Darkknight7853 I wonder how strong he be.

  • Wow, this is really amazing, turning completely still frames into a fully animated show. My only complaint is that Optimus could have been voiced better.

  • i am so impressed with this. good work. keep this going.

  • Dude, total overkill with the annotations. I don't even know how to turn them off. It's extremely distracting. It's worse than pop up video. I can't even watch the video!

  • how and where

  • huh?

  • This is how Grimlock in the cartoon should have been after transfering his super-intelligence to Computron.

  • no the movie more better

  • What programs did you use to animate it?

I just wish they would make a real animated series aimed at us true long-time fans, with more mature themes, just like War Within would be.

Hats off to you and everyone involved. You deserve major kudos for this ;-)

  • The programs used were primarily Adobe photoshop for animation and Sony Vegas for video manipulation. Thanks for the kind words :-)

  • Fantastic job. Great vocal performances too, i don't know how you did it. Of course, the only voice for Prime is Pete Cullen, but you did a fair impression of him here. The animation and use of the original War Within art is inspired. The work of a true fan.

The quality of the IDW art was always good enough to look like it was from a cartoon, so this has a great effect when used with a little manipulation and sound effects.

  • this is soooo super awesome,dude!!!!..great freaking job..... :)

  • Wow! This is awesome! Nice work! It really pisses me off that Kenner/Hasbro won't do a mature themed animated/CG series for the adult collectors and longtime fans. Enough of the kiddie crap! Or do something for us fans, too already! Make an animated series just for fans and older collectors and one for the kiddies.

  • wheres that dam! button! I dont see it anywhere on the bottom right hand corner dude!

  • See where the volume button is? Go two buttons over. You'll see a button that looks like an up button. Hit this button and it'll turn off the annotations.

  • That was so amazing!!! That was done so professionally. I have just recently started looking up the "The War Within" story. After everything I read up to this point, your video was the best eye view I have seen yet. Everything makes more since to me now. You have to finish this. This was great! You might want to think about going currier. It was just that nice! Do I have your permission to put this on a disk and store it with the rest of my Transformers collection? It would be a nice addition.

  • I'd probably loose those little quoty things.

  • If you don't want to see the annotations, you can turn them off by clicking the button on the bottom right. Welcome to youtube!

  • Yes I discovered them about 30 seconds after I'd posted lol

  • nice work

  • Ugh finally i cant belive that no site has pictures of the war within vehicles they look kooler then any other vehicle in transformers out of all of the series i like grimlock

  • How did you animate this

  • photoshop mainly. If you'd like a full explanation, just drop me a note.

  • I saw the Transformers G1 episode "War Dawn", and then this. I believe the comic book series is a continuation of that G1 episode (the past part). You have done a good job with this video. I always wanted to see the comic book Transformer series that's never on TV. This is one of them. Thank you.

  • yo i felt so bad about the whole spam thing i made you guys a black bumblebee sprite if you want it contact me

  • i sprite is a computer animated drawing that strongly shows the resemblance of sed charecter its what they used to use in old vid game but mine is more complex much more comlex

  • ok, now tell us what "sed" means. =P oh you meant SAID...

  • :-p Silly

On the plus side, Megatronkicksass did a lovely job on the sprite, and I'm currently using it as my avatar.

  • How many vollumes has this comic?

  • There were six issues plus one "preview" issue in Volume 1. So far I have only covered one issue of Volume 1.

There are also 6 issues of Volume 2 and 3 issues of Volume 3 (6 were planned, but the company went bankrupt).

I am only planning on doing Volume 1, however.

  • I have read so far Vol.1 and I was suprise when I saw Optimus and Megatron battle within the matrix and have one of theyr future when they saw them self to battle on Earth.

  • Not bad! I love the War Within series!

  • the only thing i want to be pesimistic about is the lack of robotics in the voices. needs that kind of scratchy metal sound i guess

  • wish i was old enuf to read the old comics..

  • Just head over to ebay and put a bid on a lot of old comics. Always time to catch up, and older TF comics are usually pretty cheap!

Part of the reason of my making the cartoon was to show just how cool the comics are, and to draw folks to take a look at reading them.

  • Grimlock's Voice sounds a lot like Scot Mcneil's

  • Interesting observation :-) As much as I loved Greg Berger's Grimlock in the G1 'toon, comic book Grimlock is a totally different character, so I went a different direction with the voice. I think Peter nailed down the gruff, but intelligent, comic book Grimlock to a tee.

  • Excellent work.

You should hire DRSMOOV to voice Optimus and Shockwave, tho.

He did an amazing job with those 2 characters.

  • Could not have been done better, fantastic job!

  • Agree-but frankly, I think bay's creation is better than that sludge they call TF animated. for all it's flaws, it's closer to G1 than anything HASBRO was/is giving us....

    the least of two evils.

  • I think that TF Animated is lots of fun, in its own way, if you approach it as a kid's show. Plus they pull in a LOT of G1 references: the last episode actually had Pretender monsters in it. :-)

  • Fantastic job!

  • Huh, kind of reminds me of the style of Broken Saints. Very nice work. :)

  • why is the name of

    optimusprime became megatron

  • huh?

  • unknowncreature, Bluestreak isn't calling Optimus "Megatron" when he says "But Megatron - ". Optimus cuts him off in mid sentence. He was about to tell Optimus what Megatron is doing or going to do.

  • Ah, thanks for clearing that question up for us, Galifron--I didn't realize that was was Unknown was asking.

  • brilliant

  • This is great. Good voices, sound effects, music and animation. Whoever made this, keep up the good work!

  • Yeah, I agree completely! 5 stars!

  • freakin awesome, great despite a fan project.

Will you ever do the other sequels to WWi?

  • Great acting from all the people that took part in this! Wonderful job Pepsimus! ^_^

  • Well done. Bringing to life this comic book adaption was such a good idea. Grimlock is badass!

  • usually the acting is the weak link in fan flicks. The voice actors here are very good.

  • this is awesome u guys rock

  • wow how did u do this??

  • Great work!

As you can see in my Channel, i've done a lot with comic stuff. I can learn al lot from this clip and part 2.

  • Awesome so far.

  • dam you guys did a better job than the movie prequel adaptation team

  • very impressive

  • you're right. He does sound like Vegeta

  • His Energon is over NINE THOUSAAAAAAAND!

  • love it! love it! love it!

I was worried if the voice acting wouldn't be on par. But i'm surprised

    Bravo

  • man you need to mass produce this on DVD man. Congrats good work!

  • I "might" get into some legal trouble if I did that. :-)

  • Do it underground!

  • Tell ya what. Here's how you make a DVD version. First, download a HQ video from tfcog. Then, get a DVD burning program such as ConvertXtoDVD.

    Voila! Instant DVD.

Mass producing anything means money gets involved. Don & Simon have been very nice to let me use the comic without suing me (and yes, they HAVE seen it). I don't want to betray them by charge money for what is essentially their creation.

  • Brilliant. Amazing work, Pepsimus. Loved Grimlock's voice, I think this is the first time a voice has been put to Grimlock's comic characterisation. I forgot it was comic book art and thought I was watching an animated show. Superb.

  • Don't forget to check out part 2 of this video here on youtube.

  • Yes, great film!! Finally! I get remember good times in TF history!

  • Great work, Pepsimus!

  • yes, that was awsome

  • man that stuff was amazing! im spreading the word so hopefully you'll get alot of people looking at this. i loved the original comic and wish hasbro would get the finger out and do stuff like this professionally on a direct to video basis for us longterm fans. personally i'd love to see a target 2006 version.

i know it'll be years but i look forward to issue 2s conversion :)

seriously this was a really good job

  • Years? No... months? Yes.

You should definitely expect to see episode 2 come out this year, baring any unforseen problems.

Target 2006 has a *great* story, but I don't know how well the art would translate (modern audiences expect high detail, etc.), as well as the "thought bubbles" that use to be the vogue of comic books.

  • Set it as my featured video, again, great job and it was a pleasure contributing to this!
