  • damn that's such a cool car!

  • For 30g's id rather have the Volt.

  • $30,000 for such a tiny car... I know it's electric but please don't push it! That's ridiculously expensive. Plus, electric cars are cheaper to manufacture than oil cars, and batteries are nowhere as expensive than what those companies claim they cost. Just yet another way to charge more money to the uninformed unsuspecting consumers.

  • Electric car is much better.

  • "Next year big burial party of the combustion engine here in Atlanta USA. everyone is invited. it will take place at the Stadium. It is now illegal to use a gas engine."

  • yes he said 30,000

  • I will get a Mitsubishi iMiEV instead !!

  • 30 grand? No, I don't think so.

  • Did he say 30 000, or 13 000?

  • @kregzdeM3 13 000

  • i guess JOHAN.... likes HUMMER ,put yourself

in closed e-co system one with THINK ,one with

HUMMER .I wonder who will choke to death...

  • Screw this! It looks small and gay! Come up with a cooler one FFS and save the planet!

  • Well there's the Tesla Roadster for homophobes I guess. Resembles a Lotus.

  • big oils fault, they replaced the monorails

in the 60s with oil buses in cali ???thus we cannot even come up with REAL CARS instead we get these JUNKER GOLF CART LOOKING CARS when in reality theres more power in brushless motors and lipo batteries???

  • I see a lawsuit coming from Honda. Honda City.

  • Why the f*** they have to make them so expencive, poor people and middle class need them the most not the rich ones.I think they are just trying to do what they did in the past"Kill the electric car" you can chek out the vidio under this name.

  • i love the idea of electric cars and such, but how much??? a tin box with batteries and a motor?? it should ONLY be a third of that, if that! what possible incentive is there for buying one of these??

  • @PhobiaGuy its the price of the batterys

  • The Th!nk City is one of the worlds only two crash tested and highway certified electric cars.

  • 30,000$ screw that.

  • wat about water or human powered cars

  • Just a dollar store version of the SmartForTwo

  • DukeFilmsInc, you should know that you are incorrect. The Th!nk was introduced in 1994, while the ForTwo appeared in 1998. Cost wise, the ForTwo is also less expensive, thereby making it the "dollar store version."

  • Obama is on a better way then Bush was, Bush didn't their facing the industry, but Obama is still 2 carefull. You can do much better then 1 to 15km, the peugeot 107 I drive can go up to 1 to 23km, And cars like the Think city are a good start 2 be less dependent of oil, whitch is ending, and not good 4 the evirement.

Hybrid cars r a good initiative aswell.

Get rit of cars like hummer a T ford drve more 2 a gallon, so thats progress????

  • Comment removed

  • have anyone seen how those cars do in a crash test. one word DEAD

  • its a norwegian company making them, and they arent close to getting bankrupt, so if it stops there, its the american importer that is it. but the car is gonna live anyways.. its our countrys only car, so its well protected. hehe

  • is think still going bankrupt? does anyone know? if they don't go bankrupt, I want one!!!!

  • I want one

  • The "EMV" can now be built!

    (EV-electric vehicle , EMV-electromagnetic vehicle)

Basically it is an electric car but it has its own onboard generator so the batteries don't ever need to be charged!

No fuel! No pollution! No more power girds! No more expensive Lithium batteries!

If you want to learn how to build one, I can show you.

Let's work together for a clean future.

  • Why don't you build one and then we'll talk. Oh, wait... such a technology has NEVER been constructed or proven to work. If you can do it, you'll be a multi-billionaire and you won't have to troll on YouTube anymore... sweet!

  • pity it weighs nearly 1400 kg , excessive for a two seater ,

the original design used aluminum to keep the weight down,

I guess the bean counters at " Think " threw that one out ,crazy

really if they had cut 400kg off the weight they would only have needed a 20Kwh battery instead of the 27Kwh in this one, thus cutting their costs down dramatically , retaining

the same overall range , and enabling them to sell the car

    for a competitive price !

  • cool i want 1!

  • What they AREN'T telling you....in '96 Ford dumped BILLIONS into this company to help them build 1500 Ford Ranger EVs....most are crushed, here is a video of mine

  • A little brother of Smart ^^ ^^ ^^

  • Actually Mamkayi, the Th!nk is not "the little brother of Smart." Th!nk was introduced in 1994, while the ForTwo appeared in 1998

  • Min wage earners ride the bus, then take the money we have saved over the corse of five years by not paying for gas, insurance and car payments to buy a car outright.

The average car owner pays around $550 a month for the privilege here in Portland Oregon. Multiply that by 10 months (-2 months for bus fair) and then by 5 years and wha-la, $27,500.00 to buy a car with.

  • good point

  • this car would sell fast at 15000 dollars and less don,t forget minimum wage people have to be able to pay for it .because there are more minimum wagers than high paying jobs you do the math 300 a week 600 a month for rent plus food plus insurance plus clothing then car.think about it

  • See my comment...

  • No thanks.. too small.. $30K ... battery lease... looks very unsafe... 10K production .. try to get parts in 5 years.

  • THis is the electric car that the Europeans stole from the USA. An American car and idea sold to the Norweigians by Ford Motor Company.

  • No... Norway did not by the idea from Ford.

Think was bankrupt for some years ago. But was then sold to Ford. Now it's sold back to a Norwegian investor mr. Stordalen.

  • either way, Detroit folly on electric, AGAIN.

  • its a turtle on wheels m kay...

  • The computer will drain out the battery power!

  • the ox has solar panels to compensate for this

  • it's ok but why not they make the cars more nice,, those mini cars are ugly

  • Th!nk Ox are larger

    ;)

  • are you nuts??? How can you say that after the oilprice skyrocketing. You should be ashamed of yourself

  • Electricity is renewable but gas is not so obviously the gas is more expensive!

  • no its just you. oil over electric? put the pipe down!

  • thats the most idiotic thing I ever heard. With electricity you can move a car (talking about fast electric cars) 100 miles whith what? 2 dollars of electricity?

  • Only if you want to look at if from a rational perspective. But reality isn't what matters, Its stopping global warming that matters. And sticking it to the wealthy people, and big oil, being radical...

Even though i never got a job from a poor man, and "big Oil" is making (numerically) about a quarter of what they did 10 years ago (and the dollar is worth about half what it was 10 years ago).

So how dare you bring up the fact that a Li-ion bater costs 20,000 dollars but only lasts 5 years.

  • wow, that looks really frigin safe

  • 30 grand?

Id rather buy a smart fortwo for less than 14.

  • That price is only in Norway. The journalist should not have directly converted that into american dollars. Avtually I belive the CO of Think said it would be somewhere between 15 000 to 17 000 dollars in the US. BUT in addition you'll have to pay a "battery-lease" at somewhere 100-150 dollars/month.

(The price I mentioned is only valid I think, if the car is being buildt in the US)

The first 2-3 (or more) years it will be build in Norway.)

  • According to the Seattle Times:

Price: $20,000-$25,000 (est.), with monthly battery lease of $150-$200

  • What you just can't buy the car without the battery lease? That makes the monthly car payment about $800 a month $500 for car and $200 for the lease so cant we just buy it with out the lease? Or at least lease to own? If its $100-$200 a month its cheaper to just sick with gas in the long run. Granted I like the idea of getting one but the $100-200 lease would kill the deal for me.

  • That battery lease is ridiculous.

At $4.00 a gallon, a weekly 20 gallon tank fill up is $160. Even at $3.00 its $120.. and you're paying at least $20 a month in electricity.

  • Er, I mean $320 @ $4 and $240 @ $3..

still, $150-200 monthly for a battery lease plus electricity, that's rough.

  • Not as rough as paying for the battery. Its an Li-Ion battery. The battery costs about $20k, and only lasts about 5 years.

  • so the car is basically subsidized by the manufacturer? (It doesn't retail at or above production cost, correct?)

  • When you buy an electric car in the US you get all kinds of state and fed subsidies. To make the car sound more attractive they leave out that part and the dealer simply files all that in the back ground.

So that car is actually retailing for about 40k to 50k, but you only know about the price you have to pay; well unless you want to include the taxes you had to pay (both directly and economically) to cover the subsidy.

  • however, think about how much money you will save without all those belt replacements, and oil changes, etc. All an electric car needs is the fluid replaced, tires rotated, and battery checks!

  • Once again you fail to read. Basic maintenance cost aside, the cost of the battery will tank the value alone.

Everyone that bought a Prius over the paste few years are going to be screaming and pulling their hair out as they get the bill to make their car work again.

  • so add up all the costs of a gasoline vehicle over its lifespan, and then an electric, the electric car is cheaper to run with the plus of being green.

  • Ya know. You should put together an cost of operation report for your beloved electric car and message it to me.

I'll do the same for my '66 Chevy II.

And don't fudge the numbers like all liberals do to make their argument look better. Be cause I will be doing my own.

  • db98647, now the type of car you drive is a political statement?

what a sad, confused world you must live in with those self imposed rules that requires you drive a 43 year old car to keep your street cred.

    god help this country

  • The car is not why I call crazyfoolnc a liberal. Its that he brought up "being green" that proved himself to be a liberal.

All i'm saying is that my car in all its 42 years of operation has not topped what you will pay to operate a Prius for 10.

Cost of buying the car (its true cost), and the massive cost of replacing that 20k dollar battery that the car can not operate without.

  • Oh, well if he uttered the code word then yeah, hes one of them for sure!

thank god you were on watch for the rest of us, keep up the good work my friend and don't let any of them get over the wall!

  • Dude! Its complacency like your that has put this country in this mess. This car is nothing more than smoke and Mirrors.

The batteries cost vs operational life cannot be reconciled with the cost of operating of a conventional drive train. So they only way to sell it is to obfuscate the cost and then pacify the prospective buyer by telling him "your being green".

Never mind the fact that production of that battery created more pollution that driving a Ford Excursion for 25 years.

  • and its chicken littles like you that are always frustrated when those obstacles are overcome.

I promise not to tell the FBI or whoever imposed that gag order on you that you divulged those secret plans for the 75 mpg car. I hope discussing it in public didn't get you arrested of tortured or whatever "they" do with their prisoners.

    have a nice:-)

  • hey everyboby, ya wanna see something funny? watch this:

hey db9, isn't the reason the country is in a such a mess because people like you voted for Bush\Cheney... twice? what percentage of the blame do you accept for that?

ok guys, wait for it, wait for it...

  • Ya know, I was going to simply pass on this lunacy, but then you decided to show your true colors.

And yes the DOT and DEQ prohibit manufactures from producing unapproved equipment for vehicles. These technologies are some what common place over in the EU.

VW has a GTI that get 75 MPG. It has 1.8l TDI engine and an Automated manual transmission. The combination of low end torque and and well design VMS are what are responsible for those wonderful numbers.

  • If we could use euro-Diesels here we could possibly get even better. With an electrical assist motor like the setup used in the Honda Insight The numbers would top 100 MPG.

Fiat built a concept car that achieved an astonishing 1 liter per 100 Km fuel consumption. That's in the realm of 230 mpg.

But no the US government wont let us use them. Or put them on the docket for discussion at Congressional hearing.

Don't ask me why. After all, you Libbies never make sense.

  • we sure as heck fire don't need no European style government programs here, right?. If gas is as expensive here as it is over there maybe it would be ok to spread the pollution around from that 75mpg diesel. You're saying we have to be socialist to get good gas mileage. Who's the liberal now?

  • Modern Diesel formulas make less pollution than gasoline. And VW has a catalizer that not only doesn't require Palladium, but also doesn't restrict the exhaust flow, that is pacifically designed for it Diesel engines. Making a diesel cleaner that a gas engine.

  • And if you don't want euro style government and euro style don't vote for a demorat. Because if you keep voting for people with a (D) before their name your going to get them.

Pay attention to what a politician says. If he believes in global warming that's your first clue he's a whack job. If he says that government can solve a social or civil issue that's clue number two.

  • "If he says that government can solve a social or civil issue he's a whack job"

like school prayer or gay marriage?

I agree with you there but don't those advocates have an R in front of their names?

Understand, I don't give a shit either way but I do feel compelled to shine the light of reality on those entrenched in fox news ideology. You can't have it both ways... well, unless your bi-sexual (which, as an American, you can do what ever you want if it doesn't infringe on my rights :-)

  • what do you think of a small diesel turbine generating electricity for an "in-series" electric car?

would the reliability and efficiency of a constant speed turbine driving a generator be cleaner than an current diesel engines?

  • Here's a reality check

    watch?v=AiEWCnpNnBQ

  • dude watch zeitgeist addeddun there´s youre answer, also learn a little bit about youre counry's history(civil war) and about the bush family, thats a reality check

  • i understand the reason for this car but honestly, one can buy a prius and save alot of money, have a more luxurious car, and get amazing fuel savings. my personal opinon, is this car is not worth it yet, but soon will b.

  • ya i know what you mean thats what i was thinking its basically a benchmark for things to come, just not right now

  • Yes, it is bit too expensive... But Prius and Think Cty are in diffrent legaues - Prius is hybrid, which will show some savings ONLY in city, when Think is pure electric, which means "fuel" costs much, much less.

BTW... I don't get it... People buy Prius, when for less they can have faster, more luxurious and even cheaper to refill diesel like VW Passat, or Citroen C5...

  • I wish we did have cars like that in the USA. Unfortunately, we have absolutely no new diesel Passats anymore, and we haven't had Citroens since the 1970s. The auto industry here is very restricted. The only affordable diesel-powered passenger car we can buy as of now is the Volkswagen Jetta TDI.
