  • If the guy post his leg up Flower Sweep is the way to go, Advanced no. Decent move yes. They way you taught it and tied your belt FAILED

  • Effective but not advanced. That's BJJ 101.

  • Advanced? you have to be shitting me.

  • the problem is you have to got through all of these BS moves before you can find something good. Dude if you are a purple belt learn how to tie your belt right.

  • This is not really an advanced moved I learned it relatively early, I think within my first few classes. With that being said, the scissor sweep from this position is an effective move to have in your arsenal.

  • todo esforço para difundir a arte é bem vindo!

    parabéns pela iniciativa!

every effort to spread the art is welcome!

congratulations for the initiative! Come to brasil some day and lets roll!

  • This is hardly an advanced sweep. Also, only a beginner would post up on their foot when your opponent has control of the opposite arm.

  • Lol at advanced

  • you are a freakin purple belt newbee stfu!!

  • jujitsu is gay.

  • @Remynat0r yes, and i should know they did it to me. lol

  • You guys have to remember, this is "Expert Village."

Here, the term "ADVANCED" means "BEGINNER." Just as "I KNOW HOW TO POST A VIDEO" means "I'M AN EXPERT."

  • You have to keep a close grib on your apponent on this one. I have heel hoocked so many guys when they tried that. That shin across stomach makes such a perfect angle for me to heel hook.

  • You're using 4 different pulleys to turn him 2 different ways. Not turning him 4 different ways.

  • my in structor calls it the simple sweep i learned the first day

  • It's much better if you grab cloth around the tricept than the wrist with the left hand.

  • I started jiu jitsu on monday...I also learned this move...on monday lol

  • how is this advanced? i learnt this and i am a white belt no stripes

  • I see you did the pistol or knife grip on his right sleeve, shouldn't it be a cat's paw or it doesn't make a differnece

  • zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

  • no offence but this isnt exactly advanced. well it kinof depends what you learn first but i learned this my first class

  • Great sweep but it doesn't work unless you first pull them off of their base.

  • is it necessary to grap the collar? or can i use this move with no gi, too? couldn't i use my right forearm on the left side of his throat to push him over?

  • i learned this move my third jiujitsu class very easy and effective

  • It seems like he is making this way more complicated... its very simple body physics. take away his opportunity to base out and he falls over when you push. All you are doing is blocking one side of his body to prevent him from regaining his base.

  • in jiu jitsu we do this very differently, with some detailles being the opposite in fact.

    - we dont normally hook our feet like that.

-after we move our hara (hips) to the side, we dont stick our knee through, and use the foot to push at the opponents hara.

instead we try to push the opponent as high as possible with usually the side of the knee.

same result, but this way you push against the opponents center of gravity and power with your foot, which is the furthest from your own center

  • Check out kurt osiander clip doing this same move. This clip makes move look really hard to pull off when it aint

  • BJJ is the best martial art.

Look for my flying submissions videos!!

  • there is no best martial art

  • actually there is martial art that is better than the other,,,

  • not.

  • @kempobrad EXACTLY its all on the martial artist.

  • agreed, sure some arts are better at some things than others. but it all boils down to personal preference, reason for training, how good your teacher is, and ultimately how good you are at performing your chosen system.

  • its bjj not mma....

  • this isn't an advanced technique

  • lots of missed details...

  • Comment removed

  • thats to long man i just shoot

  • lmaoo

  • nice

  • alot to remember but effective

  • Why not grab his arm at the seam of his elbow instead of the cuff for this sweep? Its a good secure grip and it provides more leverage to pull him on top of you

  • anyone know any good americana counters/escapes?

  • if someone is attempting it from mount...as soon as their weight pins your arm, elbow escape to the opposite side while axe kicking and escaping to their back

  • push their tricep with your free arm up and out you should be able to use it to filp them to side

  • boorens, if someone gets an americana on you from the mount then just trap their foot on the side of the lock and oopa your hips over.

  • One word in the title and everyone has a fit. Why are people arguing about moves that are beginner or advanced?! You can learn any move you want at any belt. There's no such thing as beginner or advanced moves in BJJ, it's about how good your technique is and how well u can apply it.

  • lol idk if its advanced. i learned this in like the first month

  • yea, this for sure is not advanced...it's the most basic sweep from the bottom for sure.

having said that, i use it aaaaaaall the time and it works fantastically lol

  • ye me 2 like the 3rd week when i was there

  • i wish i had seen the video before monday. good move, il favorite it.

  • when you raise your hips a skilled fighter will drop his knee because he will see the sweep coming . in that case leave your knee under him and reach over his back for his belt and simply push him over your knee the opposite way.

  • Well, from what I've seen, the "basic" scissors sweep is a half ass sweep anyway... So, I guess to youtubers that know nothing about it, this would be "Advanced" lol

  • well?what if the guy was wearing short sleaves?

  • grab there wrist because most people dont walk around with a gee on :p

  • most of these guys spar and fight in their uniforms. this isnt UFC or anything like that.

if they were in short sleeves...simple solution. don't use it.

  • you can mimic the same gi grip by gripping the back of his head and elbow...same thing

  • Why calling it "brazilian jiu jitsu moves", this is just a judo technique...

  • That's quite a neat trick! This could even come in handy for me even though my fighting style is completely different. A reversal move would always come in handy, regardless of what fighting technique you use. This one in particular, i could learn a lot from, considering i'v never even used a jiu-jitsu maneuver before. Good counter. I'm impressed.

  • i would never allow one of my purple belts to put a tutorial clip on youtube. who the hell does this retard think he is?

  • Your purple belts? You act as if you run a school and yet you are more disrespectful and negative than anyone I have met so far in the sport.

  • jayetool--- perfect name for you. i don't only "run" a school, I own a school. i am a bjj and judo black belt. we offer mt, boxing as well as jkd. my school has a small cage, large mat area and regulation ring. no students teach at my school only the instructors do that. many gyms will let lower belts teach, i will not allow that as they have not mastered many techniques and i don't want bad habits passed on to new students.

  • Why was this called "Advanced"? I literally learned this my first class.

  • you want to put your hips up lol... im sorry i've never seen a gayer position haha, i respect Jiu Jitsu, but still you cant say that didnt look a LITTLE gay lol...

  • gd vid mate

  • how can i do it if i fight naked? or with a floss thong?

  • Grab the wrist instead of the sleeve, and put your right hand on the neck, like, on the other side of his head.

  • LOL

  • you forget all the other steps in the video, the raising hips step will make the guy run for his life

  • So I am really confused? The guys seems like an athlete and he is articulate, but how & why are purple belts instructors? Also that move seems like an aweful lot of work to accomplish so little? I guess it's a sport thing....

  • i agree it's a basic move...this being the most basic you need to learn it starting out.....i also agree that as you evolve and progress, so will the technique. it will become more difficult to execute and the setup will become more creative and what i call "sneaky". as a purple belt, this is one of the first sweeps i learned, and is still my favorite with the highest success rate.

  • hmmmm....advanced? not so much...try...one of the first sweeps you learn

  • i prefer the twiser from guard

  • haha that is 80lv move :) im white belt and i have already practised it...

  • well... some ppl fight in other costumes.. maybe a thong.. haha who knows

  • there are a few important details missing in this one. regarding people saying it isn't an advanced move because it is learned at white belt --this is silly. That is like saying the arm bar is a beginner move and is no longer applicable as you advance in belt and experience.

  • but thats the beauty of bjj, wrestling, boxing etc. kimuras work at black belt level. wrestlers only have 4 main takedowns, they work at low and high levels. boxers still use the jab and cross at high levels.

what im trying to say is that it is a basic move which can be used at BOTH white belt and black belt level.

  • Beautiful sweep!Love it!

  • oooo so advanced XD

  • I leaned that sweep when I was white belt. How can that be advanced BJJ.

  • yeah this is a really basic sweep

  • it is a kinder sweep... abrigado!

  • I agree with the sentiment that this hardly qualifies as an advanced move... I can do this. Ive been taugh tthis. Im a white belt and I get beat all the time.

    omoplata

    gogoplata

    rubber guard..

I would consider those to be advanced..

  • id say its slightly more advanced. I learned a scissor sweep too, but only i plant my foot on the ground and overhook the arm and use my spare hand for leverage.

every place is different i guess

  • My favourite sweep. I don't know if I'd call it advanced though. It's probably one of the first two guard sweeps people learn along with the bump sweep.

  • Pulling on top of you is very important when it's a heavy opponent.

  • i did that in a fight, but i dun like to call it the scissor sweep because i only have to move one leg. simply hold his left arm and block his left leg from extending so he can't stretch for balance, then as he said, hip up and hook his waist with ur right leg, now all u have to do is to extend ur right leg, u dont need to push with the left or pull his arms.

  • i like it

  • wow im glad i learned belt rank... i honestly could care less about what color my belt is if my technique is better than my opponents then im happy.. mma for life

  • yea man thats true

  • I could wrestle out of that shit blind folded. I am fucking amazing, pin any of you

  • lol!

  • Interesting. I've never had any trouble whatsoever sweeping a wrestler to his back with this move....with or without the gi.

  • please, PLEASE, odnt smack talk before you actually fought a juijistsu artist i mean i am a wrestler too got to be ranked 4th in virginia, and one day a friend of mine was like hey come fight my friend the juijitsu artist, i was takien down in a very very SHORT span of time, cuz this fucker dont have the restrictions wrestlers do man, just try it youll know what im talkin bout

  • yeah they dont have the restrictions we had, but still practicing takedowns daily and bottom/top sparring make you pretty legit

  • That's not an Advanced sweep I learned that in BJJ the first week that same sweep over 10 years ago.

  • its a basic advanced sweep as in its an easy advanced sweep

  • Waa Waa Boo boo! Just shut up and watch the video you BJJ fanboys.

  • shit that was a good trick

  • Im srry Im Really Really Srry but that is no where near advanced no where near, im a white belt, and i learned that the first day. The Oma Plata, and crucifix are fucking advanced.

forgive me but im not sure ankle locks are andvanced(for white belts)I think

  • Just cuz it's easy to do and its taught to beginners; it doesn't make this move less effective then complicated pull the gi behind the back and fancy technical sweeps.

  • Well you guys need to remember that some of the basics is what the higher ranks need to watch out for. Mainly because just some of the basic sweeps or w/e can easly take down a higher rank. So gotta keep that in mind also

  • While i dont agree that this is an advanced bjj move, it is incredibly useful and the instructor is legit. Prob just expert village fucking up on information. This is a white belt level move

  • My Jui-Jitsu is not very good, I am just a white belt, but this is actually a sweep that I learned at the white belt level.

  • first!! this is not advanced and second.. u need to lean up more. u were just using ur muscle

  • Purple belt? Are you kidding me? Advanced? Who is your teacher? Go teach volley or tennis!

  • second: the video do NOT show anything advanced!! This technique it's an easy and primary way to swich the fight's fighters position!

Here in Brazil it's one of the firsts positions we learn!!

try to study more about JJ before say anythig about it!

  • HELLO DUMBASSESS, i'm a blue belt jiu-jitsu fighter and i'm here to teach u some REAL things about Brazilian Jiu Jitsu!

first of all, the sequence of belts are: white, yellow, blue, purple, brown and black, if u're older than sixteen years old! If you are younger: white, orange (if you are younger than 15 years, because yellow belts are avaible only for olders than this age), yellow, green (same age thing, but now it's 16), blue, purple, brown and Black!

  • Just so long as you are not trying to teach technique at blue belt. I will listen. Otherwise you run the risk of looking as foolish as the purple belt in the video. It is a basic traditional jujitsu technique. Anyone below shodan had not earned the right to teach, and that requires training too. BJJ is a fine and noble art but is sometimes guitly of reinventing the wheel.

  • no yellow belt in 16 and over division bro

    adults are

    white,blue,purple,brown and black

  • yellow for adults? well, dumbasses have their leader now, indeed!

  • Yellow belt?

  • why does this look so wrong.

    it's like playing strip twister.

  • You're not the only one

I thought the same thing :D

  • It's absolutely correct and effective technique. I'm using it quite often.

  • Surely. It´s effective alright. But I wouldn´t call that an advanced technique, since that was something I learned as a white belt.

  • icon578 is RIGHT!

jiujitsu has yellow, orange and green belt.

    For under 16 years.

  • i thought jiujitsu was white green brown black

  • i mean blue instead of green

  • you dumbasses it goes white blue purple brown black..... theres no yellow, orange or green. you dont know what your talking about stfu

  • not advanced at all..in gracie jiu jitsu

  • this is not advanced..

yellow belts and up are introduced to this simple move.

the reason is because the weekly sparing for yellow and up have a lot of submission ..

  • There is no yellow belts in jiu jitsu. It goes 4 white, blue , purple , brown, and black.

  • thats because your over 18 anyone under 18 goes white, yellow, orange then green. Im a yellow.

  • Yeah, it's usually taught with both knees on the ground. Different schools teach different things. I would look for the scissor, and if my opponent put his knee up I'd hook it and try for a pendulum. It'd just be my natural reaction. Don't know why though when I could still look for the scissor.. There are really so many different options.

  • 76,458 vids....HOLY SHART

  • LOL!!!its 77,822 videos now

  • how are they the most largest how-to video site on the web

when theyre videos are on youtube?

  • A good, solid, basic technique against beginner to intermediate resistance. Practice this move and you will catch a lot of people of any level. I have seen BJJ black belts use this to sweep other BJJ black belts.

  • 76,418 vids...

  • what if he dosnt post the foot up...then all of that is shot to hell

  • well ain't this one weird comment.... if he doesn't post the foot up then you don't do this. you do something else.

  • i guess this mean that you gave one weird reply to my weird comment.

anyway didnt bruce lee warn against saying/teaching "if he does this then you do this, then if he does this then you do this" and so on, and ppl hold him to be the best of all time yet ppl are still saying/teaching that.....i wonder.....

  • makes sense. if you have 200 "if he does this, you do this" rule in your mind, you get confused and beaten.

Anyway I see BBJ is bit different. It has (at best) more strategy and less brawl compared to what Bruce taught, simply because there is often time to think, rather than just react.

  • well yeah that seems true but its still can get confusing like you said, cause if you think too long you might wake up dead (i know what i said)thinking "shit i was supposed to do the arm bar not the sweep" and if you dont think it looks like your on your back flailin around

  • thats why you do this:

if you practice the move 1,000 times, it becomes habit, if it becomes habit, you dont need to think about it. If you get in the position, your body will just do it.

  • What if you have 200 "If he does this, i do this" in your spine instead of your mind?

And what if we all stopped arguing in comments and went down to practice BJJ instead?

  • it's not necessary, you can do that move if he has both knees on the ground, in fact, it's usually done without one knee up.

  • awesome video, and i think this is the longest video titl i,ve ever seen on youtube

  • nice but an advanced belt wouldent allow you to do that they would just go back to mount

  • i like more the kurt osiander, but he is actually a black belt instead of a purple!

  • thi doesnt help me its Gi i cant do that in submission wretling soo

  • man that wasnt advanced!!!Wtf.but ye it is very afective!

  • long name...

  • lol, owned. I take it as a hobby dude... it's all fun as hell. I hate watching UFC because everybody DOES think they are the master but when you show them in a private spar what BJJ really is they bitch out.

  • this sweep also works without a gi!

you grip the wrist and around the neck, then sweep.

  • This move prevented me from taping someone tape a porno in which someone was going to take someones virginity. Thanks expert village!

  • Driedfeelings may be an idiot but in this context i have to agree with him. This technique is assuming that the opponent is wearing a tough jujitsu uniform, this is fine in competition but take away the gi for example in mma or on the street this technique becomes useless.

  • Holy shit... driedfeelings is an idiot.

  • it's funny cause in a lot of competitions mostly everyone's in tshirts and shorts...

  • That's so funny, man, I swear.

You took a grappling martial art and turned into a sexual joke.

    Aw man, hilarious.

  • thats what happens when faggs like him watch youtube.

  • lol u know the title is to much :D

  • after, Reed ur post (me can teel); yo gammer not good as u thank;) 90% of english teachers agree,

  • God, I wish that people who post comments on the web would all go back to school to learn how to write. I swear 90% of people's comments I read online (doesn't matter what forum) are practically unreadable, from spelling to punctuation, to word structure and so on. Unbelieveable.

  • its called keyboard slang....

  • No, it's called illiteracy, idiot. I'm not talking about your BFFs & LOLs, I'm not even talking about using letters 4 words or shortened words using creativity like "ur" for "your". I'm talking about people that don't know how to put 2 words together to create an understandable meaning or message & people who attempt to actually spell the entire words yet fail miserably. You're obviously one of those people or you would not have responded as such. Sorry if I've spoken above ur intelligence.

  • you do know that it is seen as a huge mistake in the english language to put a number i quote ''put 2 words together'' maybe you should proof read your comments before you make a complete fool of yourself. if you want more lessons on the english languange dont hesitate to send me a message.

  • Is it best to switch to star sweep after that happens?

  • not gonna work if you grab collar with right hand and sleeve with your left hand (like in video) but he then begins to stack you and posts his right leg up first, what then? too late to switch gi grab position

  • there are a lot of factors to consider in this technique it looks easy but triing to apply it and being really good at it take alot of practice and feeling out your opponents weight and triing to take their balance thats what makes the technique advanced and it must be worked consistantly with because once you have it it becomes very useful and helps you into more dominate possitions

  • youre strictly right coz ive tried it grappling with a much heavier than i and i wasnt able to apply it and i lose the fight

  • if your with a guy alot heavier than you its better to pull their weight onto the knee in their side so you can get their weight off their knees and get the sweep

  • nice sweep

gonna try it out in class :)

  • There is no way that guy is a purple belt! Not a chance!

  • why do you think that? it takes a very long time to obtain rank in bjj, and there is a standard length of time between belts that must be observed according to the international governing body of bjj. i hope i clearified things for you. i am not trying to be a smartass

  • Im a practitioner of BJJ "Blue". Im well aware of the standards required to progress through it. That purple belt is a blue belt without question. No disrespect to the man, but he's out of his league wearing that.

  • i think i might agree with you the purple belts at my school are alot tighter than this guy i am a white belt with 2 stripes so you are a better judge than me

  • What are you basing that on?

  • This is a GI version..meant for competition.. In No GI, you grab the neck and control from there. No Sleeve? Pull the elbow as you sciccor sweep.

  • problem with that if the other guy is naked. how will you do the scissor sweep with that

  • After saying that, don't call anything gay.

  • I might be wrong but isnt a elevator sweep better when his leg is propped up. Also the scissor sweep is not advance technique. Also u can do that move when he doesnt base out his leg like that. Cool none of the less though

  • not ganna help if your getting jumped

  • This is for sport dude.. thats like saying. Learning to Throw a ball in Football isnt gonna help when you get jumped.. THis is for sport not Defense. BUT it can work for defense.

  • oh haha yeah bet they can mess ure shit up tho
