I love this movie so much better than the new one...but I love all the 80s movies better than the stupid remakes...I think the new Karate Kid was the worst (seriously, kung fu in the KARATE KID) but anyway...this one is golden to me-even if I am only 14
I thought the new movie was horrible in comparison to the original. Nothing compares to the 80's. That was a decade we'll never see anything like again. This was my favorite scene in the movie. Great song and Chris Penn was an underated actor.

This was the first "PG" movie I ever saw in the cinema and ever since has had a special place in my heart. Like Flashdance & Fame this classic, charming films like this should be left alone. Some may say it was typical 80s with lacking script, but for what it (may have) lacked in script it made up for in cast, dancing prowess, and genuine show of enjoyment for what they were doing at the time. I for one will not be seeing the remake, clips are painful enough.
Look , if that were true then we would all be using the same old technology we did in 1984 . The original was great . but you have to give it to the directors and choreographer jamal sims for incorporating the original footloose dance moves with some modern hip-hop and slide . I'm not choosing one over the other , but you have to admit that they did a great job :)

@CreativiDe992 Generally I would agree that the originals are better - but, not always. And the new Footloose is a case in point. Both these movies are excellent. Paramount stuck to the exact same script etc....and that is why it really worked for the remake.
the new version was the cutest thing I've seen in a while. I loved the remake, I think they both stand tall but the remake made so many things more real, I also liked the female lead in the one SO much better. You actually root for her, as well as the dad. In the original i was like "she's not even worth it!". And the original dad was such an asshole. The new one puts so much heart into the father role.

I watched the 2011 Footloose first, three times already in the cinemas infact, and I watched the original today, and in my opinion, the new one is much better! There are so many lines that are the exact same, but yeah I think the new one is a lot better! both my favourite movies now though! :)

I went and saw the remake and it was great! I didn't know if I would like it, but it is the Footloose for this generation! It had some really funny parts that made it a great movie. Thank you for the remake!

The original one sux. Kevin Bacon is creepy, Willard looks reaaaaally old, the preacher is a total dick, and the chick isnt hot. THe new version does everything better

Now this movie was the best. The remake though had a much better actress playing Ariel than the dorky, no tit chick in this movie. The new Willard in the remake really reminded me of Chris Penn Willard, probably the best part of the remake besides Dennis Quade.
As far as the lead, BACON WAS THE KING!

@CreativiDe992 Generally I would agree that the originals are better - but, not always. And the new Footloose is a case in point. Both these movies are excellent. Paramount stuck to the exact same script etc....and that is why it really worked for the remake.

the new version was the cutest thing I've seen in a while. I loved the remake, I think they both stand tall but the remake made so many things more real, I also liked the female lead in the one SO much better. You actually root for her, as well as the dad. In the original i was like "she's not even worth it!". And the original dad was such an asshole. The new one puts so much heart into the father role.

Why pay to watch a remake because they've ran out of ideas and can't be arsed to make a film by their own merit? puzzles me ; ( I've never watched remakes. if the actress is prettier does that make it a better film? Well no because it was a huge hit when it was made so don't insult it leave it alone ; )

@tina925 Her father was a minister so was supposed to be strict-thats the point of the film ; ) She was supposed to be a rebel-rebelling against her father. I suggest you watch the origional film again because you obviously didn't get the point-music breakd down all barriers and prejudices. Thats why it was a box office hit : ) The actors made it a hit. So nicer sweeter versions dont work princess go watch snow white.

The original dad had no heart and seemed like a robot.
The new one fights with being strict because he loves his daughter so much.
Both are great movies. I enjoyed both, in their own right.
