I loved this scene man. Vito gets fired, refuses free food, yet he goes home with a pear for his wife and is still happy. Family is more important than money.

The story of Vito Corleone, a young boy who experienced the death of his mother in front of his eyes, has no where to go and no one to comfort alone in an alien nation, if that doesn't move some one they might be very good with controlling their emotions or made of stone heart. The became great not because of Mafia but because it dealt with family bonds of a Mafia head. As if thats not enough, Nino rota gives music, which itself can stir emotions deep within.

If I recall correctly, the whole part 3 story is later on written by Puzo and Coppola after they decided to make a third movie
