I'll admit im not from Blackpool (I'm from down the road in Burnley), but i have been going to this place since birth and i still get really excited when i see the tower on the motorway and im on the piers eating candy floss, its just happy times all the way when im there. I'm doing Blackpool for my essay at uni and will look at the bright future it has ahead of them, and its been nice to look at these video's for research.
@groovychiken My parents/in-laws/grandparents were from Bury, Bolton, Great Harwood etc. and they all went to Blackpool every year on Wakes Weeks. I'm sure you know all this for your essay, but it's nice that a young person sees a bright future for the place!
Born & bred in pool , & this is a top vid of how it was, but the comment to many "smackheads" etc winds me up, 1 How do you know they where as you put it "smackheads"? 2, 99% of blackpools problems either pissheads or junkies are from out of town scum coming here to the "Bright lights of blackpool" thinking a new start with sort them out & get em off the junk/drink now if all of those did one, maybe the town would be better? (& i dont mean the holiday makers) Blackpools bread & butter!
I live in Blackpool and I m proud of were I live, yes its does have its problems but then again what town doesnt. Blackpool is a fun place to live the only people who spoil it are the tourists who just come crap on the town and leave!! I mean how woukd you like it if we came to your towns and pissed on them. Their are still good areas in Blackpool and this town has a future.
I was born nearly 2 decades on from this and yet I know it was "better back then" myself just off the footage... to think they had all the immensely fantastic 1960's music yet to come and England winning the world cup in '66
spent many a great holiday there in the 80's. i remember that laughing clown, right outside the funhouse which sadly perished in a fire ( or at least thats what they told the insurance company). i went back 2 years ago and it sure has changed, too many smackheads and staffordshire bull terriers shitting all over the place. Needs a big regeneration plan and a lot of cash spent to change its image. the place was buzzin in the 80's.
I lived in St Annes from !966 to 1993. Blackpool had the best shopping thro' the 70's & 80's and, I agree, got shoddy from then on. I used to do gigs all over the area but I hear live music has all but dried up now.
Wow The laughing clown!! I was terriefied of that as a child! HaHa! It was burned down in a fire in the 1980's which was at the funhouse just behind it.
Yes i remember the laughing clown as i went into the Funhouse where i burnt my wrist on the wooden floor that spun round and threw you off...and i still have the scar to prove it haha. Good Times
