  • I have watched a few of your videos, I enjoy them they are straight to the point, may ask what kind of polish dud you use? by. the why I really lije your Kimber to bad they discontinued that model anyway I am from California were it is not allowed. Happy New Year and take care.

  • @philly4458 That's ironic, especially considering this pistol was designed for LA cops, originally. The polish I used was Mothers', but not because I think it's better than any other polish out there... I just happened to have some in a cupboard already. I'm pretty pleased with how it turned out. Anyhoo, glad you like the vids. Thanks for watching.

  • @FateofDestinee Which Mothers product did you use on it,? As you did not say because Mothers makes tons of polish products.? thanks nice job on the gun also

  • Nein. You must not use the Mothers. You must only use the Flitz.

    Flitz Flitz.Flitz polish,Flitz wax.Shiny like new penny!

  • @hpmacmurray Hahaha Well, I had Mothers' already, and I'm not one to be wasteful, ya know? I think it did an all right job :]

  • I Like these older video's.

  • @Doyouknowhowmuchusuc Thanks for your feedback!

  • Mothers shine better.

  • @sigmaoverglocks Eh, I'm not too picky about my cleaning/polishing products, but I had Mothers' around, and I think it did the job pretty well :]

  • That looks great. In the shop we use a cloth buffing wheel and that speeds things up considerably. Up course I remember doing it by hand as well. I've used flitz. Also, the JB red polish works wonders. I think it's really just jewelry polish.

  • @Iraqveteran8888 Thanks much! I'm pretty pleased with how it turned out... it's a lot better than how I purchased it, at least haha Hey, whatever works, right?

  • Oooo man I'm in Love!!

  • @cjm258 That's just how I felt when I first found this Kimber!

  • Great video. The 1911 is definitely my favorite semi-automatic pistol. Yours has a "Bull barrel" which is great for compact 1911's. This year is the 100th anniversary of the 1911! John Browning was a genius designing this pistol.

  • @thepassman This particular Kimber does, yep (hence no barrel bushing)! The 1911 is still my favorite style of handgun (but I love so many!). Browning must have been a real genius. If I could go back in time, I'd shake his hand and thank him haha

  • "You show your kimber to your friends, Show your glock to your enemy"

  • @hm4973 Haha that's great... to whom is that quote attributed?

  • @FateofDestinee I dont know really. I quoted a friend of mine, but I cant imagine he coined it. I've also seen it worded a little different a couple times. So what I'm saying is get a Glock, and the quote is all yours, in fact I will quote you when I use that quote.

  • As stated in earlier comments, Polish in the direction of travel. THe slide goes to the rear so it should be polished from muzzle to breech. But how much was paid for this lovely gun if I can ask that?

  • @Dogsoldier22 Thanks for the advice! I bought the Kimber used for about $800.

  • @FateofDestinee woo doggie..considering the price for this gun new is around 1,000 id say you got a descent price on it.

  • I was shocked at how nice it turned out, nothing a little elbow grease can't fix

  • @eddie1134 How very true!

  • thats how mine looked brand new! ill never buy a display gun again lol

  • @bjizzle123 Oh dang! Sounds like it wasn't taken care of well :[ but it's not too difficult to buff out.

  • Great video I like the screw driver technique. I just bought a CDP 11 full size I was convinced by the store owner the choose the full size commander frame but I really like the Pro's 5" barrel , by the was the SIS models are nice to bad tgat hear in California we can't get it. take care and thanks for sharing your video.

  • @philly4458 Thanks much! It's unfortunate that the CA laws are so restrictive :[ I'm glad WI is a little more firearm friendly...

  • Glass bead finish, sprayed with pressurized air:-P

  • @whatever7x7 Thanks ;]

  • you might want to polish in the direction the slide travels over your pistol next time. also, that duller matte finish on your barrel is known as a bead blasted finish.

  • @kindfacedswayze Thanks for the info, and the advice!

  • i got my kimber used and it looked the same way, how people can buy a 1000$ pistol and not take care of it is beyond me...

and you can rub on it for days with the polish and not remove any metal, i went over mine with #0000 steel wool before polishing

  • @COLT45keith Thanks for the info ;] I think I got lucky with this gun... the barrel was the only thing in need of attention (cosmetically) - the finish is scratch-free, thus far *knocks on wood* It is a possession dear to me, though, so I agree with you that it's crazy someone wouldn't want to take care of such a lovely little pistol.

  • That looks 100% better, after you polished it. That's great technique for anyone who doesn't have a Dremel tool or polishing wheel.

  • @snoozer987 Thanks! I like how it came out. I just wanted to be careful so I didn't go crazy with a Dremel and ruin something with a simple slip of the hand, so this method worked well for my goal. Thanks for watching.

  • i am sorry but its really hard to look at the finish when some one like you makes the vids. great job!!!

  • @MR500BULLIT Lol... thank you :]

  • your one AWESOME CHICK! keep up the good work

  • @ricksn777 Aww, thank you. I'm happy you think so. Thanks for watching!

  • i want that fucking kimber.

  • Kimber barrels corrode like that because they are machined out of bare carbon steel and NOT stainless steel. They require a bit more care than blued or stainless barrels do, and if you don't keep a thin coat of oil on the barrel, the bare spots will rust quick fast and in a hurry.

If it bothers you, send it off to Robar and have it finished in NP3. Only 50 bucks for the barrel and no more rusting problems!

  • @nicker3290 Thanks for the info! I didn't know that. I do keep it oiled well, just for general care and so it fires nicer at the range. I may eventually have it finished though... you can spend a lot more on Kimber improvements.

  • @FateofDestinee

Agreed. I'd like to have a bobtail put on mine. I wouldn't mind a nice trigger job either. Of course that will all have to wait until it comes back from yonkers :/

  • @nicker3290 After I get the extractor tuned, I'm considering getting a trigger job done. That'll be way in the future from now lol I want to get good enough at shooting that I'd notice a difference heheh

  • Awesome Job!!!! I use Flitz and it come out nice. Your SIS looks great. To keep the corrosion down i use closet dehumidifier where ever i store my gun. Havent had any corrosion since. keep up the vids!!! I got a couple of Kimber Vids myself

  • @kahai808 Yeah, whoever had it before me didn't take the greatest care of it (for shame!), but I'll see if that setup works to prevent any new corrosion. Thanks for the tip ;D

  • you are kick ass...im a big 1911 fan..i have two...great video...always cool to see a chick who is not afraid to get her hands dirty...thanks for the vid

  • @MrPushinkeyz1 Aw, thanks. :] I love them! Next on the wishlist is a Colt Defender... might have to wait a bit though. They don't exactly give those Colts away lol I love doing work on my guns. I want to get to the point that I can do a full takedown on them instead of just the field strip. Thanks for watching :]

  • U got some nice guns, but u need to get urself some spydercos

  • @cwskin69 I am definitely considering them... I'm looking to add a nice little pocket knife to my EDC setup. Haven't made up my mind just yet on which knife though.

  • @FateofDestinee I have to say that i carry spyderco's solely right now. i think i suggest a good knife if you give me some criteria.

  • @MatrixOne976 My goal was to get something great for my EDC but something that could also be functional if some need arose during the day. I also don't want something huge because chick pockets are kind of small lol

  • @FateofDestinee your describeing a multi tool. i think. if you want strickly just a knife that you need to use in a defesive situation the endura 4 or delica waved would be a good one. if thats too much cash then i'd also suggest the spyderco tenacious. which is my MDC. (most day carry)

  • @MatrixOne976 Nah, I have my eye on something else for a multi tool. I just want a knife that I know is going to be reliable and convenient without being unweildy. I've been recommended the Spyderco Tenacious for that purpose too... I'll have to take a closer look at that one, I think :] Thanks for the suggestion.

  • I used the FLITZ polish that they said and man it works WAY WAY faster then the Mothers stuff and I get alot better shine too. I did this over 3 months ago and it stills looks like brand new.

  • @Scott5641 yeah, didn't have any at the time...I should try some though for my recoil spring though. Thanks for the tip. Many here have recommended Flitz, guess it's time to buy some!

  • came out really nice Destinee...thanks for sharing vids on your beautiful sis pro

  • @287ranger It's my pleasure, really. Kimber makes a stellar 1911.

  • I need to do that to my Kimber Pro Crimson Carry II. I have noticed a little bit of surface rust on the front of the barrel. Thanks for the video. Keep up the great work.

  • @edgedweapon88 I know some people do that kind of work with a rotary tool, but I like the metal polish because it prevents me from hurting the finish with an accidental swipe, you know? It doesn't take much, either. And thank you :]

  • Great Job Destinee Looks Great!!!

  • @rugersix Thanks! It was worth the effort, no doubt.

  • 1911*****

  • @workergirls Is that good or bad?

  • @TheArmoryGuild Thanks! I'm pleased with it. Much improved.

  • super*****

  • @workergirls Thanks. It's cool to know I have some female viewers, too.

  • Hey you, great video!

We love your attitude and I appreciate your passion especially for 1911's....I was really happy to see how impressed you were with how the barrel came out, nice work. Sometimes all it takes is a little patience and will....I always look forward to your vids...time to do something something crazy, lol...

    cheers

  • @a45sArtwork Thanks, I'm glad you liked it. I'm definitely going to do the same to the guide rod now that I see how nice a little elbow grease and metal polish will make stainless steel look. I like. Something crazy? Don't do anything I wouldn't do haha

  • how come Pete from the armory channel doesn't make vids with a flower in his ear?

  • @Mr1911Freak Good question... might have something to do with him being a straight guy and all, but then again, I suppose you could ask him. Lol :D

  • @FateofDestinee AHAHAHAH!

  • I looked for that pistol yesterday at the gun store and they didn't have it :( Picked up a nice pistol I'll show later. Thanks for the demo:)

  • @MyHollowpoint From what I understand, they don't last long if they hit the used market, but still... that's a bummer. Looking forward to seeing the new handgun, though!
