  • 106 rally 8 or 16v?....

  • If it was a 1.6 rallye and a 1.4 MG ZR the rallye would have killed it! Must be a 1.8 MG ZR?

  • i love les Mg ZR ♥

  • the mgzr are great fun iv had fast cars in mine only beating them on handerling tbh top end in the 1.4 is not great but mine is now....... as its running a rover 220 coupe turbo engin in it kicking out 215 bhp

  • and the point of this is? i love the way the mg zr has its fog lights on to make it look better, these cars are tin cans any1 who has had 1 knows this :)

  • some people get so upset make out mg zrs are tin cans ! why would people watch the vidio if they didnt like the mgzrs lmaooo

  • right the mg is better than the 106 tbh but really there both shit if ur gunna get the mg get the one that has the mg kit on it and handling package then it is boss through the cornors and for the 106 it was good for its time i guess and is a car u just throw around a bit of fun i guess

  • @mutchie1493 how can you say they are both shit when you obviously know fuck all about them! the ZR had no 'handling package'. they just had standard 'ZR' suspension for the model (105, 160 etc). The ZR does handle very well but lacks a LSD that the 200 BRM had.

The 106 is a great car and has a very good power to weight ratio. As it is based on the iconic 205 Gti I would say that was far from shit too. So, I guess from your opinion you have owned both? Or are you not yet old enough to drive?

  • @youfuckingcuntface m8 ive drove both these cars and for there price there great cars but lets be honest u can find plenty of cars which will destroy them and if u think im to young to drive watch me drift type in g mutch drift and its the first vid im the guy in the orange car youfuckingcuntface

  • MG aint British there made in china. and it aint fair to put 120 bhp in a straight line up against 160 bhp on the mg . on a track the rallye would fuck all over the mg in the corners . 106 gti's and rallyes are one of the best handling front wheel drive cars going

  • @4x4762 u berk there WERE made at longbridge in the uk until the went bankrupt few years ago any new mg's are now chinese. and 106's are heaps if shit and handle like a canal boat lol

  • i was replying to emo kiddy who sayed that mg are British witch they arnt any more. and you obviously aint been in a 106 rally . if you had you would off seen on of the best 'standard' handling hatch backs around unlike piece of shit rovers

  • @4x4762

against a 160? mightn it be the 103 BHP version??

  • oh my bad i forgot to say, for my age its a decent car.

  • @emokiddy666 oh right ok, that makes a lot more sense now because im considering one of these as a first car. Is it your first car aswell?

  • nah mate, not my 1st, gunna be the second, either that or a saxo vts/vtr.

  • @emokiddy666 oh right fair do's. I'd go for the MG ZR, something a bit different than the common saxo's, which are a bit chavvy imo. Just beware of head gasket failures on the MG's..... :)

  • thax=) ill bear that in my, l will end up gettin the mg as they are bigger than soxos, head gaskets arent to expenisve are they, coz ill end up doing it myself if it goes, and eventually put a turbo on, my gasket on my current car is goin i think, small amounts of oil come out every time i go out in it and my piston rings are probly knackered aswell. drove without a water pump for abit to long lol.

  • @emokiddy666 yeah erm a head gasket can be picked up for around £30 - £100 on ebay.... its just its time consuming to fit so a garage will probs charge around £500. Coz you have to disassemble part of the engine. But hey if u can do it yourself from a haynes manual then why not!

and oh i see, just dont take it for a long drive anywhere coz u may end up gettin stranded lmao. wht is you car anyway (is it your first?)

  • lol, k, yea taking engines apart is easy enough, done it a few times, um i got a fiat seicento 900cc, i got two k&n air filters on and a huge powerflow exhaust, itll do 105-110mph.

  • its got the skirts aint it dont that mean its the 160

  • @4x4762 no zr105+ comes with lecy windows mirrors fogs sunroof and side skirts

  • @4x4762 this one would have been made in Britain. In fact, at the time it was made with BMW's money :)

  • um MG ARE BRITISH! LMFAO FRENCH! im glad there british there one of very few decent care makers we've got over here.

  • @emokiddy666 one of few decent?

mg rover are generally shite. Ever heard of Triumph, TVR, Jaguar or even Aston Martin?

  • NoycieBrv said "vts uses a fixed rear axle no way they ever could handle well. ".. I have a Mg Zr 160, they also have a fixed rear axle lmao

  • The 106's are made out of baked bean cans mate.

the look shit and sound shit.

the mg is much better in every way.

And for a start the mg isnt french:)

  • no it was a vts. how can it handle like a go cart when it has suspesion from out of the arch naw i have a focus st3. js think its funny when ppl think saxos are the best car ever lol

  • Den MG'n har jag nu...

Kanske inte undra på att motorn är bytt... ;-)

  • i doubt it saxo vts 0-60 time is 8.7 secs mg zr 160 is 7.4. thats over a second quicker.

  • a saxo vts 0-60 time is 7.6 secs dont know where you got 8.7 secs from but facts and figures on paper means fuck all

  • I know it dosnt, driven both where i work as a merchanic saxo vts are slow as fuck and handle like crap.

  • down to the driver, some drivers can deal with it, others cant

take michael schumacher for example, his team mates from the 90s couldnt drive his cars for shit yet he won championships in the same car

  • What? where do you work?

  • The ZR is much slower, a 106/Saxo 1.6 16V would kill it honestly. I always thougt the MG's were fast lol, but it looks nice...

  • you carn't get a 1.3 S2 rallye u dick

  • the 106 must be the 1.3 rallye not the 1.6 cause then it would be different story

  • The MG ZR is much more powerful than any 106.

  • It wouldn't kill the 160 in a straight line, it'd be close, but who drives in a straight line all the time eh

  • a 106 gti would piss all over it in the corners too a rover lol

  • Comment removed

  • you ever been in a zr

it would destroy a 106 on corners

  • yea my mate had a zr it was only a 1.4 we use to swap cars for the night they are good at handling but no match for the little 106 gti and the saxo vts.

  • you may be right but i have a mk2 zr 105 and my mate has a remaped vts lowerd on coils and he pisses all over me on straights but on twisty roads im up their with him

  • yea cause its only so fast you can go around corners where as you would be hitting the corners flat out. the vts would struggle to use all its power and plus its all down to the driver. but its no doubt about it the vts is a much quicker car and a tad better in the corners.

  • your saying its shit in the corners if the vts cant handle 120bhp in the corners. hows it handle better if the car cant go flat out in the corners? vts uses a fixed rear axle no way they ever could handle well.

  • the saxo you drove must have bin a 1.0 with a vts badge cause their not slow and they handle like a go kart they have awsome handling im guessing you have a zr.

  • Zr 160 also has a fixed rear axle :P

  • It uses a H frame with coil overs each side, 106 uses a torsion bar with shocks only

  • a standard 106 GTI can't win from a MG ZR 160 VVC for sure!

  • @tommyturner2008 That's not actually true is it? The 106 GTi has 120bhp in standard form.

  • @tommyturner2008 not more powerful than the 106 GTI

  • @tommyturner2008 the zr jumped the start, a 106 Rallye will rape a ZR, obv u havn't been in a 106, and they 106 GTi ha they will pick up a zr chew it up and spit the pile of shit back out!

    zr pfffft

  • @MrDrummerBoy89 Your just another Peugeot fanboy who can't accept when they've been beaten.

  • Lmao but i would kill myself if i had a 1.4 to 1.8 litre.

Come on the BMW 540i's :D 4.4 litres of V8.

anyway chill out guys :) theres a 106 up my way thats had a C20LET dropped in it and its doing crazy hp.

  • learn to spell

  • proberly 1.4

  • im buying my mg on sunday!!! woo

  • i have a zr 1.8 and that thing is fuckin rapid, watch my vid.

  • not so rapid pal my zs 1.8 is faster, 0-60 in 6.2 - 6.5

  • What are you talking about??? A ZR 1.8 vvc (160hp) is even faster then the ZS 2.5 (180hp)... The ZS 1.8 has only 120 hp (non tuned). I sprinted a ZS 120 and it didn't come near my zr...

  • mines the mg zr 1.8 120hp. the one in the video is blatently the 1.8litre 120 hp cuz i raced a 106 rallye and mine did exactly the same, pulled off quicker and pulled away about the same as this vid. if its the 160hp it has to be a rough motor

  • ha wooped it!probly the zr 1.4 they known to woop them lol..

  • 1.4?:P

  • @holmquista 1.4 liter engine

  • @holmquista we 1.4 my mum has one (i cant drive you see yet) and im intending to get a 106 should be fun

  • looked like a 160 to me, them 106's are fast tho

  • @mace2005 agreed, didn't pull away from the 106 enough for it to be the 120 brake car

  • @tomtomtom1230 Think the 106 is a bit on the light side! 120 brake aint a lot, so for you to tell the hp from a car by looking, you are one SPECIAL person! lol

  • @jasnbl never said 120 was a lot of bhp - wtf's your problem? besides, if you read what i said properly it says it the ZR doesnt pull away enough from the 106 to be the 120 ZR (ie: nothing in there about 120bhp being a lot..) - regardless of what you think, the 120bhp MG ZR is a pretty quick car for a bog standard vehice and 106s are just shit and have no pull - i have owned both of the vehicles (106 was my first car) and i'd choose the MG over the Peugeot any day.

  • @tomtomtom1230 and yes, it was the 1.6 version of the peugeot before you get all anal about that, too lol

  • @tomtomtom1230 You said, that it didn't pull away enough to be a 120hp car, the 106 is much lighter! Even if the car was a 150hp car still not too much, depends on the driver too. So the comment you put is bollocks, you know nothing about cars to make such a stupid comment.

  • @jasnbl yah and i fully understand that the 106 is much lighter - how can you possibly make the brash judgement that I know nothing about cars when I've not even really said that much..? And besides, without looking at the cars in person, I wouldn't know what engines those cars have - I made a flippant analysis and perhaps I was wrong... the ZR weighs a little over 1000 kilos perhaps and the equivalent 106? maybe about the same, 900-1000kg? so it's not a great deal lighter but im only guessing

  • What size is the MG tho?

  • wow the MG went
