These are just the sculpture forms, they later get turned into super flexible silicone skins that are much more detailed than fabric. They are easy to swim in since the silicone is the same weight as the water.

My tails are made from high quality 'medical-grade' silicone (which is more expensive as a skin-like feeling material) but the cost of a custom designed tail is one quarter of the price you mention.
