I have the original video of this song on vhs. Unfortunately tape is in Poland and I am in Ireland but once I go there I'm gonna upload it here. Promise.
the similarity is definitely limited to the voices of both lead singers. But in fact, Terry Hoax and Danzig met once. It happened on a Summer Open Air Festival in Germany at a place called Ochtrup. 15 - 20 years ago. Glenn Danzig invited TH to show them hell. TH answered that this won't be necessary because they just had returned from there -The Open Air Festival took place on a field and they just had finished their performance suffering from heavy hay fever attacks.
while i appreciate the electric guitar, i generally agree that yes, dead
this one's especially bad, depeche's can't be topped because it was so cerebral, this cover is.......embarrassing to be on the receiving end of, like bad sex
this version blows depeche mode right out of the water. this song should have been played heavier than the mode played it. hoax's version lacks a decent drummer though and the guitar couldve been heavier in places. I always wanted to cover this tune and give it what it deserved. credit to mode for writing it though.
I bought this CD back in '92 after watching this song on MTV... I too thought it was amazing until a few weeks later I found that the guitar intro in this song is a sampler of Soundgarden's "Room a thousand years wide" from 1991... I don't know how they pulled this off along all these years, except for the ignorant motherfuckers who still praise them... bitches!
@gloria665 Hi Gloria, Whilst I agree that they sound similar, that IS going to happen! All 'rock' bands are going to end up playing 'rock' songs, and there are only so many notes any musician can write with, and some of those don't fit well with certain others! It looks like Depeche Mode wrote this first, and Soundgarden followed a year later!
Clapton released the song "Let It Grow" in 1974, and two years later, the Eagles did "Hotel California" - very similar chords and flow.
They will be playing on "Fährmannsfest" in Hannover-Germany first Weekend in August ;-) And on August 28th they are supporting Fury in the Slaughterhouse at Gilde-Parkbühne in Hannover:-) Grüße aus der schönsten Stadt der Welt..
i got all their records - th was a great band - if seen them a few times live and it was awesome!! to bad that its to long ago - i wish i could turn back the time hehe :)
Martin (Their guitar player) is an amazing guy. A few years ago I couldn't find their Live album anywhere in Israel. Sent him an email and got a few of their albums by mail a week later.
Marty, if you read this, hello from Israel.
BTW, Terry Hoax is an amazing Rock band! I wish I could see them live...
Thaaank you very much indeeed!!!
There should be a video to this song ...this is a great cover of policy of truth much more depth and tension than depeche modes studioversion of the song which is monotone
someone can give me information about this band?? I think that I heard a song called "the man who always wants to sleep" but I'm not sure if were they
Better than the original!

i prefer the original version by far. they're a synthpop band, not a metal group, most of their songs aren't meant to be heavy

the initial 10 seconds of commentary is stupid. just play the song, it's a good
cover and the music can speak for itself;
no reason be obnoxious and petulant.

Hi ilrax,
terry hoax have been a german rockband (Hannover). I´m sorry to say, that this band doesn´t exist anymore.
The song you mean is from the album „den Kindern geht's gut und sie lassen grüssen!, produced 1995 in LA.
