  • For the benefit of all non-USA enthousiasts using centigrade values: 82 C is normal, 88C is for cold climates and 74C for hot climates. Sometimes people use a 79C thermostat as a compromise. Driving steadily without any thermostat at all is not wise and should be reserved for emergency situations with blocked thermostats only. In the hot south of France some people drive with continuous electric fan instead (wellknown Kenlowe extra).

  • i finally know where to check if the thermostat is working or open thank you john

  • I about fell out of my chair at the mention of a 195 thermostat. I work in a shop here in Birmingham Alabama (which we had a recent 12 day 100+ streak) and we wouldn't dare put a 195 thermostat in our customers cars. Yes, many of our customers run with electric fans and no thermostats and still overheat... But I generally don't recommend anything more than a 165 for here, with a fan and good flushing once a year.

  • @orbassasin You don't know what you are talking about.

  • John can you help? It appears that my MGB GB engine breather filter is bloked...

  • Friggin great JOHNS my hero.

When i Get stuck with my car I say WWJD or "What Would John Do" LOL haha
