thankyou so much for posting this. saw this when i went to disney california in 2007. was going through a sad time and the song really lifted my spirits.so sad to think it has gone now. hope the reopen it oneday. long live disney
Thank you for posting this. I was there on the very last night - the last show and recorded it on a new phone - and I didn't hit "save"... I almost cried. I was going through some very difficult times in my life and had been going almost weekly just to watch this to cry and get encouraged. It worked... thanks for the reminder...
I just found out they took this down. I am so depressed now. This was one of the main highlights of my visits to California Adventure. And now they destroy the lake. >:(
This looked like such a great show. From what I saw, it looked like it was in the same tradition as Epcot's "The American Adventure". The montage and song worked together wonderfully, and it was cool seeing Whoopi Goldberg as the host. (Also, I want to extend major kudos to DCA for including footage of a young, vibrant Howard Hughes in the montage, with the song lyrics "...we are the wings, that can fly into forever..." At this point, I literally felt tears forming in my eyes.)
this show is so unfortunately unpopular (like great moments with mr. lincoln/disney story are at times) but i made it a point to visit golden dreams every visit- beautiful documentary.
It's the same kind of montage they have at the end of the American Adventure at Epcot.
This was undeniably a Pressler-era attraction... More low budget film attractions and fewer actual rides. Things are finally starting to change at DCA. That's why this movie just had to go.
it would be too difficult to do that because of guest control issues that there would be. During the day there are 5 high school musical performances and then a pixar play parade in the evening.
Envy Me? I work there come on it's okay it's time for a change yes it so much and the hang outs I had with cast members in our little spot right there and than a man see your making me miss it now
Sorry to see California Adventures close this attraction, it will really be missed, Thank you so much for putting this up! And remember keep your DREAMS ALIVE !!!!
It is the Disney way of showing California. For many people it was--and maybe sill is all of the things that Califia (Whoopi) said. I know for me, This film was amazingly inspiring, and true. California is Amazing, and everyplace has problems sometimes. Put it this way-- Does the american adventure in epcot have blood-bath wars, and do you learn about Mexico's drug wars in Spanish class? No. California had an amazing history, and still remains an amazing dream filled place.
There was a scene showing chinese workers building the railroad. It originally showed an explosion for a tunnel at the end. But due to complaints, that par was cut and "now" fades to the next scene.
Sometimes the truly harsh realities of life in early California is too much for somebody who is just looking for a fun time in the Park. I suppose I can't blame the complainers, (try explaining the obviously horrible deaths of the two Chinese railworkers to Johnny, while waiting for that next corndog), but it was an amazingly powerful, honest look at the building of an amazing state, warts and all. I only hope the original idea to move the theater is still in the remodel plan! Bring this back!

Why does Whoopi refer to California as the place to go for a good life? The state is broke, Schwarzenegger has run it in the ground, and huge numbers of people are out of jobs. Plus mass numbers of people are leaving Cali for neighboring states who would prefer they not intrude into their borders. Maybe in the 90's this was relevant, but no more.
GREAT Idea!!!! We need this song in DCA somewhere... you can't totally take the California out of DCA :( I'm kinda sad that they're re doing this park.... Idk, it seems like it could have been an AMAZING park, and it was in some respects. I think that people didn't like this park because it was new, and different (GASP), and it simply wasn't Westcot 2000. Just like president Johnson was impeached because he simply wasn't Lincoln. Things could be better, but a total park re theme? No thanks.
July 7th is when I had to quit Disney's California Adventure That day was my last day performing this show today it's now closed down Boy I miss working there so much!

there wont be daytime shows of world of color. it will be similar to the showtimes of fantasmic so there will only be night time shows.

hmm, i know i heard somewhere that there will just be regular water shows to disney songs and what not. ehh, its been a while though.

I wish they kept this. It was about the History of CA and was pretty good. Change the show if you want, but they should have kept this part!

And did the American Adventure ever had to have a seen cut short due to being a bit too much?
