What does it mean 'glass must be full before and after delivery'? I've sourced and old service station still selling leaded petrol, and the pumps are really old, and it has the view glass on the side....is it some kind of way to check if the pump is still primed?

Leaded please 98 RON or higher i'm tired of being forced to use 95 RON unleaded and pay for additives on top of gas prices! 1988 volvo 740GL Saloon 2.0 its like $9.74 per gallon over here in uk, 80% is tax...
