I like how it's been almost a year since this game was played, and they had this long post-game analysis on the viability of Arbiters in PvT, and you see now that Arbiters are pretty much standard in late game PvT with High Templar, and for a while, they looked unstoppable until a couple months ago. You've also seen Jangbi in 3 of the most recent Starleague finals while Flash has only seen one Finals since this game was played.
well, its all about the $ and troops. each time jangbi did suicidal recall, despite he took out flash's command centre, he also lost his entire troops without taking out flash's scvs. if u convert those troops into resources, the money jangbi lost > flash stop mining( flahs only needed to rebuild a command centre, his scvs were not lost). plus jangbi spent too much in recall, there is no way he got enough money to keep building his army. So, flash took his perfect opportunity to wipe out jangbi.
i think ur right and wrong about the map sure its easier to defend but its also easier to recall in ur opponents base like if it was farther away to the expo i think flash woudlbve saved it rather easily >>
no..its action per minute. it has nothing to do with how many units u r moving. u can group 12 units each team, there r 10 number keys on the keyboard, does that mean when u swithing group 1-10 very fast in 1 sec then u r having 7200 APM?? obviously not.
most of the apm comes from the left hand on the keyboard. and they do spam a lot too... like keep on switching between production buildings to track reinforcements...
Ventrilo or some other chat program. They presumably use headphones and a microphone to chat online to eachother. They all also watch the same video at the sametime somehow. I think Mole and Diggity might know eachother forrealz
The one thing I've not seen mentioned is all the EMPs Flash was throwing around. Keeping the arbiters from doing too much, killing protoss shields (so the units melted that much faster), and greatly limiting the efficacy of Jangbi's forces.
Epic game all around. And great commentaries, guys. Thanks.
in case anyone doesn't know why Klaz is "the bird man" its because in one (or maybe more? idk) commentary with diggity, there were a bunch of birds that somehow got into his room's vent...so yeah they were chirping in the background whenever he was talking, haha
@arthainius "Flash had about 4 tanks overlooking his bases. Any templar that had been dropped woulda died before it could get off any storms."
Dropping them onto the SCV line would have cause the tanks to friendly splash and kill the SCVs. Coupled with a few zealots (dropping them first) it might have worked.
Or just recalling in a large bunch of Dragoons with a couple templars nearby and quickly storming, then using the Goons to focus the CC.
He had illusions from the HT and i'm 100% positive that his Arbiters would have reached his factories. :) + they would have survived longer in the middle of his base and they could have destroyed some tech buildings too :) Flash was lucky in my oppinion .
Lucky? No, Jangbi didnt touch Flashs' army with those recalls. He lost CC's, yea big deal big deal but Flash never lost units so his army got really really big near the end.
Exactly, Flash was lucky because Jangbi didn't attack his factories! just think about it! if Flash had lets say.. 2-3 min without factories (no more units pumping) , Jangbi would have had a huge advantage, but he chose to destroy Flash's CC (400 min) at the cost of his goons+arbiters (1350 min and 800 gas ) NOT A WISE DECISION :)
@Thappy9 - It's not that easy to take down factories. Terran buildings are strong enough to allow time for their units to come back and defend. I assume you mean recalling to attack the factories and not the SCV lines? True, 20 dragoons may be able to take down a couple. But that's only around a 20% decrease in production for a couple minutes and Flash would no doubt build 4 more to replace them, speeding up production to catch up, effectively making that recall useless in 3 minutes time.
The Factories were bunched up, belive me , if he recalled let's say 20 goons (he recalled more) they would have destroyed some tech and probably some factories and that would have ment that for 3 min Jangbi would be macroing units and Flash would be building factories , thus by the time Flash would have his factories back Jangbi would have had a bigger army :) . (We all saw that Flash was just macroing units very slow and then he pushed) .
Just figure it out, A protoss must always be 1 base ahead to be equal (economicly speaking) with a terran, Jangbi had 3 bases Flash had 3 bases (Flash ahead 1). Jangbi destroyed 1 base meaning that they were even (economicly) But, Jangbi had No units and Flash had almost all of his units. When he destroyed his other expantion he was only 1 expantion ahead of Flash BUT he had no units and Flash had a lot of units :) .
Plus, in TvP you cannot allow the terran to sit and max because when he pushes (as Flash did) you will surely get owned :) . Jangbi wanted to out-macro Flash by Destroying his economy but he didn't pick the right set of units. The Arbiter plus 20 goons are way to expensive for an expantion + lets say 10 scvs (a cc is 400 min and a scv costs 50 min but with mining time lost it's considered to be worth about 75 min so.. Jangbi wasted 1350 minerals and 800 gas for 1150 minerals :) )
Not at all, it also cost the Flash all of the resources that that base would produce in the near future so that would be about 1500 more resources at least.
to be honest i really thing Jangbi played a bad game, it was his chose of attack, i truly thinks this choice of going fast arbitors was a terrible idea. I feel he would have been much better off just getting a few storm drop in. The Recalls were nice because they kill the command centter but he kill almost no SCVs which was what killed him. Flash was just able to transfer his SCVs and get almost the same minerals.
If Jangbi would have storm dropped he would have done more mineral damage (command center = 400 shit loads of scvs > 400), it would have also cost Flash time in building his scv count up again. it was no surprises to me when Flah won becuase jangbi did not do a good economic harass and his storms (which are his terren destroyer) looked like a D+ on ICCUP. Im not saying he is bad just his choice of strategy was poor
Think about this for a sec. Your playing TERRAN. And, i am a C+ toss player myself, terran will own storms. Flash had about 4 tanks overlooking his bases. Any templar that had been dropped woulda died before it could get off any storms. So I agree with the commentators that Jangbi lost because of his lower troop count. If he had just left 1 arbiter back to call back his dragoons after a sucessful recall, that might've helped
And then the templar cost 150 gas each which leaves a lot less for the arbiters. So suiciding 2 temps would be have been the same cost of an arbiter. And the arbiters are what he needed, not just for recall but for stasis in lategame
moletrap's commentary style dosnt seem to mix with other's. Klazart's comments are really informative. like worries about Flash burned out. diggnity is also brilliant.
I don't agree with you, sure they have different types commentary but that is why is so fun to listen to duel commentary (in this case tripple). Moletrap, Diggity and Klazart keep up the good work
big wow. he was going oov macro build anyway, soon as he max's and jangbis army is half depleted he can just push, if jangbi hadmore templar in main army i think he could of stoppedflashs push, jangbis storms are legendary
Amazing game, awesome comeback and outstanding commentary by the pioneers of english commentaries. Thanks so much for this guys, I couldn't ask for more!
If Jangbi had recalled over Flash's factories and stopped him making any more tanks.. (we've seen Bisu doing this, i can't remember against who, but he did it and it was succesful :) ) he would have won. GG Flash
It wasn't really a comeback. Flash had his army before jangbi took out those expansions and jangbi kept losing all the units he produced. There wasn't a minute where jangbi had a superior ground force and that made the difference.
Ten goons + Arbiter = 1350 min, 850 gas. It's a lot to trade for a CC.
Flash also had a much better harass. He stopped the mining at a lot of bases, killed a lot of probes. Jangbi kinda went in and traded his whole army for CCs over and over. It's basically like he just stopped mining for a minute at a base. Didn't kill many SCVs, and Flash just popped the CC back down.
Amazing game! I like Flash and want to see him continue to dominate. However, Jangbi is a pretty fun player to watch. His storms are just perfect. I want to see more from both these guys! The commentators are pretty awesome also.
well i dont think flash was ever in a huge pinch... even though he lost a lot of cc, he always had another going and most importantly, he did not lose scvs.
It was a great game, eventhough video length got me completely fooled. But I don't think it was that amazing how the winner won it, since he never really lost a full unit group, while the constantly harrassing party kept losing like 12 units per base, not doing much other harm than getting the expansion down.
Some things you missed is that jangbi actually didn't lose his nexus from that single tank. Flash dropped a tank and I think 4 vultures as well at the same time. The vultures harassed, and the tank was left in the end. Jangbi couldve sent his probes as they were still alive, but that was a fault he made. Even so he did not lose his expansion from that

Anyway very good game & commentary

absolutely amazing
Some things you missed is that jangbi actually didn't lose his nexus from that single tank. Flash dropped a tank and I think 4 vultures as well at the same time. The vultures harassed, and the tank was left in the end. Jangbi couldve sent his probes as they were still alive, but that was a fault he made. Even so he did not lose his expansion from that
