Does anyone remember KRON's old "4" from the late 60s/early 70s, where the bottom of the "4" had the two squiggly lines going down and away like a coat rack or mic stand?
Are George Redding and George Reading two different anchors as the description suggests?
That 's beautiful, returning that memory of the Golden gate bridge 4 logo to me, thanks.
Have you noticed that these days it's call letters aren't spelt out anymore? They now just say "KRON " as a full word. they spell out all the other channels call letters, why not K-R-O-N?
In the late 1970's KRON showed MTM/Newhart in reruns in the 4pm hour; these shows were just ending their original CBS network runs at that time. I grew up in the Bay Area and we watched KRON a lot, but I don't remember Kotter reruns on KRON. Of course Rockford was a top-rated NBC primetime show and KRON was one of NBC's biggest affiliates for decades.
I remember Mary Tyler Moore Reruns had came on around the 3pm-4pm hour on KRON as a tiny kid, I think Merv Griffin came on at 4pm after a while then took over the 3pm slot.
Is this somewhat like NBC's 'Come Home To NBC' slogan?

If you feel like your all alone and the only people you have to come home to is from the evening news; its time to think suicide.

I kind of liked KRON's old logo where the "4" was part of the Golden Gate Bridge.

Lays the schmaltz on a bit thick! I wish I could see Valerie better. I only remember her being on KGO.

Schmaltz was standard in the 1970's. Valerie was later known as Valerie Morris and I last saw her as a financial correspondent on CNN

Sure glad that TV didn't fall into the bathtub! Nice to see they pointed to quality shows like "Welcome Back Kotter" lol.
