  • So how much do you know about Audio engineering?

  • @WhichOnesPink777

I'm not sure how to answer that....I know enough to record a few tracks, transfer them to my computer and mix them together.

  • i like the plain sound of the lead guitar, effective!

  • Ease your feet in the sea. Belle & Sebastian. From The Boy with the Arab Strap LP.

nice rendition. How did you get the vintage sound?

  • For this recorder do you have to buy a separate microphone? or is there one built in and if it is built in is it any good? if not whats a good quality mic to get for an intermediate drummer/guitar player who's just looking to record for fun?

  • listen to my songs recorded with the DP02 CF

  • Hi my name is Danny,I also own a Dp/008.I have followed operation instructions to the letter.I've already sent one back thinking it was defective. The new 008 Is doing the same thing.Everything is fine until I try to record.Press and hold down the record button on the track you're using, while pressing the playback button. The standby lite supposed to stop blinking and stay constantly lit. It's not happening. New SD card. Created new song. Assign & input setting are fine I can hear everything

I just got one of these things ... and it seems that to record you have the track(s) that you want to record on blinking (press the rec button below the track number) and then hold down the button with the red dot on it ... below the words AUTO PUNCH (bottom right) ... and then after that hold down the play button (>) next to it.

The blinking red light should go solid red ... and you are recording.

But like I said, this thing is brand new to me ... just out of the box today....

  • very impressed, sounds supwerb. i was humming and harring about buying it but not now...definitely getting one.

  • ANNNNNNNND Sold. I'm buyin' one now.

With this and the Korg KP3 I don't think

    I'll ever be unhappy...

Also, is that Reason for the Orchestra Samples? Sounds way better than most Reason uses I've heard, almost Flaming Lips like.

  • @wordswithnickinthem

For the Orchestra sounds I used the "slow strings" patch on my cheap Yamaha keyboard. I then used izotope vinyl to add a slight warp to it. Yeah, I guess it does sound sort of Flaming Lips-ish. I was going for a sort of cheesy 70s sound, but then, that's the sound the Lips used on the Soft Bulletin album, so I guess that makes sense.

  • @SeymourSnide Nice! I find the "slow strings" patch on almost all old keyboard is pretty amazing.

Being between the 70's sound and the Flaming Lips sounds like a very good place to be.

  • @SeymourSnide what kind of yamaha keyboard? I have the old PSR 500 yamaha...lol and the dp 008..incidentally I also have the Korg D888 recorder but that was harder to use.....

  • @232323C

It's a PSR e313. I had an earlier PSR that I sold - I actually liked the electric piano sounds on the old one better. The piano sounds on the e313 are pretty realistic, though. See my latest song for an example.

  • I would like to hear a FULL band for once on one of these babies! With drums and all please!

  • @matttee13 lol

  • Hey, I really really want that vinyl sound you are talking about! How did you get it to sound like that??

  • @VAIou812

I use a VST called izotope vinyl. You can download it for free.

I love it - you can use it as a vinyl simulator, or to simulate tape saturation or amp overdrive.

  • @SeymourSnide Thank you, I'll certainly check it out. I'm seeking to get that more lo-fi sound from a digital recorder like the DP-008. Wonderful recording by the way!

  • @VAIou812 Vinyl is amazing! Thanks man!

  • @SeymourSnide Cool stuff ! i think you EQed a bit too much the track , so it's too much about the hi-mid , old vinyls are warmer ... if you can , process it into a tube compressor plugin , or something like that (find it on KVRaudio.com) to warm things up a little bit , then export , then normalize and voila , a pro track !

still , that's really good sounding , and very vinyl-ish ... if i could sound at least like that i would be so damn happy, i'm sick of this crappy , slow computer ...

  • Very nice. "Ease Your Feet In The Sea" is the title of the song.
