  • Joao Crus I believe was present in a royler gracie seminar not so long ago in my school.

Real nice guy!! Nice technique Joao

  • do you can succesful this position in real situation ?

  • that its a simple tesoura from capoeira... just basics of capoeira

  • amazinggggg ... joca40 is that Joao Crus's dvd in the info part >> ive learned a couple of great moves withing 5 mins of watching this guy ,

  • wat is that? a kneebar or ankle lock?

  • It's a knee bar

  • Kneebar

  • De La Riva wasn´t created by Ricardo De La Riva Goded, but has its origins on Kodokan Judo. The BJJ "wise guys" have the habit of consulting ancient Judo Books, to "create" new techniques on BJJ... BJJ is very important in the evolution of ground fighting, but it should be more respectiful when using Judo techniques.

  • Um, DLR guard wasn't in Judo or at least very common in that martial art. Stop spreading disinformation.

  • Um, ACTUALLY DLR IS FROM JUDO. However, the only correction I would make is that its not from Kodokan as much as it is from Kosen Judo. I think its YOU who needs to learn YOUR information correctly. Its referred to as "hiza tori ni ashi kamae" and has several "henka waza" (variation techniques).

  • This is the only page on Google for "hiza tori ni ashi kamae". So it isn't very common in Judo beyond some obscure kosen judo videos. You can say it wasn't from Judo either, but some earlier art form. But it wasn't until BJJ that this position was studied widely.

  • Who gives a shit where or from whom this particular technique originated. I'm sure it is called de la riva because it was easier for brazilians to pronounce than "hiza tori ni ashi kamae", unless you speak japanese. Nothing is created only discovered. Again a group of disgruntled judoka who hate on BJJ and use semantics to argue respect. I would think if your point is remotely true than you could say that imitation is the greatest form of flattery-theres your respect, although not required.

  • @karelin275 Carlson Gracie named it after his student Ricardo De La Riva who was really great at this concept...Carlson invented alot of what BJJ is.

  • yep, it's from kosen judo. check out the kosenjudo videos available on other sites. you will see de la riva giard pretty often. by the way, no disrespect, but i hate this guard...

  • It's a good move if you can stop them from turning their hips. The hip has to come strait down on the leg.

  • you need a lot strength for submit of that way

  • If you don't have a good tequinique you will need a lot of strength. BJJ is not about strength is about leverage..
