  • I'm actually starting JKD lessons this Saturday, and I'm really excited. One thing I wonder is that some of the throws and grappling look a lot like catch wrestling. Is that where it comes from? Thanks!

  • This guy is getting his ass kicked, I can't find any one to spare with myself, I broke my last partners arm : (

  • hahahaha. . .

  • The guy with the white shirt should stop attacking the Jeet Kune Do master.

  • Bruce Lee wrote an article in Black Belt magazine years ago and explained his point. Basketball is basketball, whether it's played in America or Japan. Self defense should be the same. We all have two arms and two legs, so why are there so many styles of martial arts. There are kicks, punches, throws, ground fighting etc. Just like in tennis, every player has their own style but use the same strokes. He wished he had never named JKD. It's just self defense like basketball is just basketball.

  • jkd is basicly your own way of fighting

  • why all idiots put the fuucking rock music to the movies.Rock its for american retards

  • jkd concepts?

  • WOW nice

  • è troppo statico come combattimento nulla a che vedere con bruce lee o i grandi maestri

  • alotta wing chun in there looks like fun

  • Attack by combination is my favorite aspect of Jeet Kune Do. This guy is great !

  • thank you, me to. I like it

  • i wish there was a place in my area that taught this. i wanna learn JKD

  • Maybe because you don't know JKD

    Aloha

  • this is not jeet kune do how dumb are they

  • that is to jeet kune do thats a one of bruce lees counter attacks that he has performed alot

  • Choregraphed dancers. Nothing more.

I bet that in reality they are slow, predictable sloppy fighters.

  • You know so little.

  • Ottimo

  • It's easy to be flashy and fancy, when the opponent is just standing there not moving, try doing same to LIVE resisting partner, and then try do be fancy ;)

  • He ´s a lion

    a real fighter

JKD is best because you can do what you want and not just this or this move

i do jeet kune do and i love it

  • This -is- JKD. It doesn't matter where the techniques come from.. there isnt JKD "moves".. it's a mixed martial art. JKD is a "styleless style". If you disagree with that then you obviously have no idea whatsoever.. because that's exactly what Bruce Lee, the Founder of the martial art said..

  • most mixed martial arts (and im not talking the combat sports stuff with a lot of people trashing traditional martial arts) teach you concepts of fighting, like kenpo. trying to learn "styles" or expecting the DM's are going to be EXACTLY what you will do is the mistake people make, you wont learn from a book or video and then say "do this" its all practice. Bruce lee didnt learn "do this" or "do that" he learned to train his body to just "do" and that is a sign of a good martial art.

  • Wrong. It JKD can be anything, how can it be something? JKD is not a style in the sense that it is not bound by tradition. The student can use what works for them. But within reason because JKD's core principles--economy of motion, longest weapon to nearest target, always think of hitting, attack the attack, etc--must be adhered to. JKD can be defined as the skills that eliminate an opponent in the fastest and most economic way possible. End pt.1

  • Pt.2 And Bruce (thank God) has specific methods that he believed accomplished that goal. What do you think fills the pages of the Tao? Liberation from the nucleus means that if something he wrote doesn't work for you, fine; strip away the inessentials, but don't throw out his entire curriculum. And yes, JKD is a mixed martial art, but not in the sense of the term as you see it: it is modified Wing Chun Gung Fu, modified Western boxing, and modified fencing. Hope this helps.

  • *If* not it for the second sentence of pt.1

  • Apmhflick, you just said "Wrong" then repeated what I said in different words.. Of course JKD can be something, how else could it exist? JKD is a styleless style, Bruce Lee said so himself. It's not about the techniques, it's about principles.

  • I guess you're right. Sorry. I read your comments and assumed you meant that anything goes. Apologies. Glad we're on the same wavelength.

  • Likewise ^.^

  • ya i dont under stand that how is it not a style? i saw bruce lee talk about that but i just dont understand lol

  • The idea is that there are no set tecnhiques and ritualistic pattern of practice. It karate, things are usually very straight foward and practiced a certain way. What Bruce Lee wanted to make was a system that, after you learnt all the basics, you took what was useful to you from ALL the martial arts around the world and express yourself through creating your individual form. Not just a part of some style.

  • ok i get the idea now thanks man

  • @Brasbyjoe

Well it is, your own style:L. You have all the basic moves to act in a real fight not set techniques as in a real fight anything could happen.

  • It's not a style because he it's always changing. It was basically the 1st MMA. He had a basic fundamental style (his stance punching and kicking form) but everything else was studying all martial arts.

  • idiots? thats JKD jkd is wing tsung jkd is twd jkd is boxing jkd is all noob

  • That isnt attack by combination.Retards.

  • wtf was that!? so unreal.. after one punch the right guy didnt move and just waited to get hit -_-

usually you don't neutralize your enemy with only one punch.

and those flips, most of them are pretty hard to use on such a heavy man.

    WAY too much cooperation

  • in theory, anything can be jeet kune do, you do what your body is most able to do and flow like water, disagree? read some bruce lee

  • this is no jkd i saw a little wing chun with some jiujitsu locks dat about it

  • you really calling this jeet kune do?

it's impressive, even looks as though it would work in a real world situation, but cmon guys who are you kidding.

  • it's strange because jeet kun do attacks when the opponent attacks, causing the opponent to go off balance and then gets hammered by combination punch's.

  • bruce lee said that jeet kune do " is the way of intercepting fist" thats why jeet kune do attacks when the opponent attacks. in that way jeet kune do can intercept the move of the opponent.

  • well timmy you have to think of it like this.

from what i seen jeeet kun do can be defenseive or offensive.

when you have become skilled in the art of jeet kun do you can find what you like most.

i actually like both but more on an offensive side :)

  • nice but yes I noticed your back foot)u should b on your toes, like the sticky hands punching combos

  • wow that's awesome

  • BRUCE LEE

  • He is staying true to one of the concepts of JKD borrowed from wing chun to take the centerline of his opponent. Very good

  • This JKD is very strange :/

  • yeah1 godd job!

  • jet kune do is amaze.

  • q lindo q estaaaaaa, its so fucking good!!!!

  • Thats not JKD! Jeet Kune Do intercept any attack and uses the left lead stance if your a right handed person!!!!!!

  • jkd doesnt just intercept... -_- please. And no... one can modify things to fit one's own discovery for what works better for one self and so forth. This is kinda jeet kune do, theyre just not showing or representing it very well

  • Some things, like the right lead stance if your righthanded, cant be modified for it goes against the principles of JKD, thus its NOT JKD. But since we all have different interpretations we will do things differently.

  • jkd has principles but they're not rules that can't be broken so tospeak, if you find a better way that works better for you then you do it. But yes, JKD is much about interpretation

  • the dude on the right looks freaking huge

  • WoW!

  • JKD is only a name!!

JKD is to train and find your style.

you must lurn only the basic!!

  • fuckin gay....

  • ouhhhh yeah baby you make me hot very good moves och och

  • Jeet Kune Do is supposed to be about the most efficient and scientific method. This is just crap. 20 seconds, an obvious kick to the groin isn't taken. The "goodguy" also leaves his own groin wide open. 30 seconds, more combinations designed to look cool.

  • I agree completely. There are some decent ideas at the start of some of these exchanges, but the problem is that this demonstration amounts to little more than a poorly choregraphed fight scene because the aliveness isn't there. If he were showing unrehearsed responses with a more resistant opponent, then mixing in some sparring clips, that would be more along the lines of Jeet Kune Do. Jeet Kune Do tries to avoid all of this dead routine and focus on the chaos.

  • Yup, Jeet Kune Do was made famous by it's concept of (and I paraphrase) cutting through the bullshit. Be careful. There are a LOT of idiots who just call what they do JKD to piggyback on the concept (notice, I don't say "style") and pray on people just starting out in the martial arts.

  • Yeah, that's what's so damn difficult about JKD, it's so intangible and that's what makes it brilliant, but at the same time it allows for swindlers to just throw together whatever they want. This bullshit happens in every martial art, though, and it's sad that many of our martial artists today care more about the development of their bank account than their honor and discipline.

  • Here Here!!

  • that's right! there was only a few who were certified instructors. there are a lot schools who offer the concepts or change the name to some street fighting system. they all borrow from Jeet Kune Do.

  • not jkd at all. jkd concept it is , but bruce lees real art it isnt

  • The guy doing the respose is chambering before each move,(Drawing back for power) a JKD guy will pick that up and counter or just slip out of the way. I don't know about that neck wrench when the attacker flips up in the air---what is that?

  • Another false prophet. This is not JKD.

  • guy in the white shirt need to work on his diffence

  • yeah and stop throwing himself on the floor! bruce lee would had laughed his ass off watching this

  • how would you know what Bruce Lee would do. You weren't even on the planet when he died

  • he's not dead you idiot, he is sitting here with me right now and we are both laughing at your comment and this video.

  • lol how can he be there with u when he is smoking some major herbage with me! :) loved the comment btw lol

  • hahahahah thanks man! :)

  • Actually there were only 3 students certified by Lee: James Lee, Taky Kimura and Dan Inosanto. James certfied nobody before his death and Taky has only certified his son. There is a letter from Paula Inosanto to Curtis F. Wong the editor of Inside Kung Fu magazine stating that Jerry Poteet, Pete Jacobs, Daniel Lee, Steve Golden, Larry Hartsell, Richard Bustillo, etc. were all certified by Dan. There are a lot of JKD instrutors who are making a lot of claims that aren't true.

  • At 1:04 the guy in the white shirt obviously threw himself down. He twists the opposite direction from the direction of the guy's arms.

  • Rofl!!! It seems to me like the guy in the white shirt just wants to do some drills but every once in a while his instructor decides to go apeshit on him.

  • what's the name of this song and who was playing it? so cool! and so the video..

  • willing is not enough, we must do ;)

  • in my oponion the books are helping me, the only thing around here is karate, and maybe a wing chun school but i dont think its open i'll have to check. to say i will never learn it from a book isnt true.

  • the JKD videos are cool but i'd rather learn it from the actual books by Bruce Lee himself.

ive got volume 2&3 there better than watching a video from some one who climas to be an expert

  • You will never learn it from a book. Get out there and find some good Muay Thai people, Good JKD people, Good Kali people. Get out there and put the books down. Books will not teach you how to move or fight. They will teach you things you can bring to your training but they will not get you too far. Find a good school and go get training.

  • That was fun to watch. Good interesting stuff, though after 1:40 it didn't seem as good. One problem was that, the partner should have had head and body gear on and then we could see the demonstrator go full force instead of the play-hitting. It would be a more real demo, plus the demo guy could wear gloves as well. Then it would be a more authentic demo, otherwise it's like exercises. Since it's just a demo it already looses realism, but U could compensate w/that suggestion.

  • Also, while watching again, noticed that Sifu doesnt even have his back heel up and he parries w/ this lead hand??!! Bruce Lee changed that, parrying was revamped into doin it w/ your rear, b/c most of JKD punches are from your lead b/c it's closest to target, now in some instances you can parry w/ your lead, but this dude does it everytime....I take JKD from Tommy Carruthers and the Bruce Lee books, and this just looks to me like JKD Concepts. Thanks.

  • you took it with tommy carruthers???/ ha ha ha that's #1 badass dude

  • Yes tigre, I take JKD w/ Tommy. Very very smart man. Tommy, Ted Wong, and Jerry Poteet are prolly the only ones in the world that know JKD like Bruce did. I agree w/ everyone of you, very good knowledge in the Bruce Lee books. However, remember that is not the exact way Bruce wanted it taught, cause if you know he changed alot of things in JKD and passed away, taking most of the new secrets he figured out w/ him. Tommy however, is prolly one of the only ones that knows the true power of JKD. Ty.

  • I may be mistaken but weren't Sifu Wong & Poteet certified by Dan Inosanto? I know that there is a lot of argument about Sifu Inosanto's (who was Lee's protege) JKD Concepts but from what I understand Taky Kimura is the only instructor that teachs Sijo Lee's Jun Fan JKD and Kimura's son is the only one he has certified. Everyone else has received certification through a "Concepts" instructor. So to say this person or that person knows real JKD is a sort of a misstatement.

  • Wong, Poteet, and Insanto were all students under Bruce Lee. Insanto however, was not allowed by Linda Lee to teach Jeet Kune Do the way Bruce did. He instead mixed JKD w/ phillipno boxing and some other forms of martial arts to come to JKD concepts. But as far as Wong and Poteet, they were certified by Bruce. Thanks.

  • Inosanto was granted the right to teach JKD by Lee himself and Linda had no part in that, in fact Inosanto taught 70-80% of the classes at the Los Angeles kwoon because Bruce was usually busy with filming, etc. Linda aknowledged Dan's right to teach after Bruce passed and even Brandon Lee studied under Guro Dan. It wasn't till much later that Linda brought a lawsuit against Dan to stop him from saying what he was teaching is JKD because of his JKD concepts. People need to get the facts straight

  • All the knee strikes and grapple moves are way over the top. Why not just knock the bastard out w/ your lead hand, that's what it is for. You dont go to the ground on purpose, in a fight w/ 2 or more, you'll get your ass kicked.

  • you know why they are taking people to the ground? Its because of all the MMA Stuff. Its all about whats popular and advertisement. Now even Bruce said, eventually all fights lead to the ground, but thats the last place you want it to go. So I agree with you about the lead ahand thing

  • Thanks Bladestar, sounds to me like you know what you're talking about. Yes, eventually fights do go to the ground, but in JKD that's hardly ever the case, especially if you are fighting someone that's just a brawler. Bruce made JKD so you dont have to go to the ground, it's for real life situations, just knock the guy out and get away, but yes, some do lead to the ground, but this is just way over the top. Thanks for your reply, hope to hear back.

  • I like the music thought

  • the guy in white jumps to the floor alot, he should restst a little in my opinion to make it harder and more realistic

  • Your fluidity is great, I'm glad to see someone letting their sensitivity control thier actions, not their mind. Thinking will do nothing but get you hurt in a fight.

"When all obstacles are clear outer things will disclose themselves, moving be like water, still be like a mirror" -Sijo Bruce Lee. Therefore these moves are JKD and they are true to the principles, he hits first then he goes into trapping, trapping is JKD but its secondary primarily we want to hit. Principle #4: HIT!! :)

  • Touch sensitivity is good only against blocks etc. Chi-Sao is an essential part of the training but as Lee discovered it can be countered by stepping in and out fast. For this he incorporated fencing footwork and boxing in his system. I would like to see some more real like technique. This is poor chi-sao for beginners to be true. It's one of the reasons here in Italy it's better to train for oneselves instead of going search for instructors that know less than the average guy.

  • Actually counter attack by combination.

  • ma dove si trova questo instruttore? in che parte dell'italia insegna?

  • Some of the moves are pretty good and very possible strikes of jeet kune do. However, alot of the things he is doing, in a street fight or something like that, them moves wouldnt work or be thought of. Jeet kune do is free form fighting, which in terms is to end it quickly, all that grabbing could be useful, on the other hand could be subtle to get attacked yourself.

  • very realistic contrary to modern beliefs this style is fom the old time my fateher a true venice compactor tought me the more powerful strikes

  • just wanna point out. showing a technique or a set of moves in a row isnt supposed to be an attempt at showcasing a real fight. its just one of MANY training tools that teaches one of MANY aspects of fighting. Considering jeet kune dos founding principles of not trying to predict a fight, let nature takes its course, your weapons will come into play when the time is right...obviously they arent suggesting that you do this exact set of moves and that will go just like this....

  • I must admit that I don't put much stock in Martial Arts demonstrations like this. Put on the gloves and go full contact like the Dog Brothers! That would settle all of the arguments posed by the nay sayers in my opinion. The attacker is pretending as if he's actually getting hit! Hilarious!

  • is this jkd or savat, their movements are slow and punches dont flow

  • Ahhh... I have a comment to make on this video:

    jeetkunejimi, you're a cocksucker.

    Thanks for your time :)

  • nunca se igualaran al arte de bruce

no tienen ni la elegancia ni estilo

ya ke siguen un legado ke no debio ser seguido segun bruce

  • More concepts stuff without sound principles first. This clip assumes that every attacker will telegraph a big haymaker or will play hubud with you till your happy to send out your attack, apply these techniques in a competitive spar, but my feeling is one cannot.

  • its good but a bit unrealistic. in real life fighting people are sometimes much more tough than we can expect, they can take some punches

  • what you punk suppose some tough guy like me walks up to you with a gun what you going to do. and i got your pet pit bull eating cat food now what you going to do.you do this i give up master link.

  • So what you're basically saying is you're too much of a pussy to go man-to-man with anyone. All this gun bullshit is rediculous. You probably aren't any bigger than the bullet in your pistol, you weak bitch.

  • Kool

  • very good! Ive trained with Richard a few times in the UK. Been out of it for quite some time now due to 60-70 hr work weeks doing nights in the military. But this is all familiar stuff. Hubud--Lubud (tie and untie)...entering to trapping...good foot work with parrying

Still shadow Box and try to keep fit. Wouldn't want to disappoint such an awesome instructor in Richard and my personal one Terry.

Im sure Richard would be proud of your accomplishments.

  • I saw the Israeli's special force training on the history channel. They apply a lot of moves from different martial arts. I wouldn't be be too suprised if they borrow some of the techniques from Jeet Kune Do.

  • As Angelvinni said, it is not a style but more of a concept, actually he added in fencing into the concept of JKD. I have just been only taking it a month now, but the one thing I noticed is that lots of his terms was from fencing. So, when I looked up some of his material, he actually did state that he used fencing as one of the formats for JKD. For Example Perrying!

  • hmmm the dude in white seems to be playing puppet.....or punching bag. He doesnt look too well balanced or too confident and exagerated movements do nothing for me...i know its just a demonstration video....but yeah....wouldve like to see some real contact.

2:33 when he does that fall....meh

  • please select video street of war 4 and 5, thank you for comments

  • jkd iz a concept created by bruce lee. it iz not a style and it originated from many other martial arts including karate, tae kwan do, and kung fu.

  • For clarification, I think jun fan is a viable style. So to say why would anyone want to fight like x, ask yourself why would anyone want to fight like Gishin Funakoshi? For the record, Dan Inosanto recommends jun fan, kali, silat, muay thai, and shooto. You won't like them all, maybe, but something will stick.

  • these are possible applications and principles of the JKD. thanks to all friends and not friends

  • poor yodamaster cant keep the enemy down whats up with that i got a special that will put all you [ kung foe fu thum pi eye thugs ]down.its my 2 friends smid and barny.

  • Be careful what you say. Even an idiot can pull a trigger. BTW, Master Luca is also trained in firearms. I'm pretty sure because Sifu Richard Bustillo is a pretty good firearms instructor as well. Have a good day.

    Peace

  • Anyone can pull a trigger but not everyone can hit what they shoot at! The avg thug is not trained in the use of firearms! Ever go to a gun range. It's hard to become accurate w/ a pistol! you have to practice! For an untrained idiot shooting at a moving target its more difficult! So if you run away you stand a better chance than just standing there and giving up because he has a gun!

  • Not sure if you're replying to me but Sifu Bustillo has over 20 years training and shooting firearms and assisted in the controlling of the Los Angeles riots and other law enforcement details. He trains officers in the L.A. Sheriffs Department as well. Master Luca is a very good shot. With and without a gun.

    Peace

  • I'm replying to Jargenlink! He thinks that pulling out a gun guarantees victory! Sorry, but you can lose , even if you have a gun! Shooting requires skill just as any form of combat. There is more to it than just pulling the trigger! Most ppl get killed because they just stand there and wait for the guy to shoot them. They assume they will get shot if they try to escape. In truth they stand a better chance trying to get away because an untrained gunman would find it difficult to hit them.

  • it shouldn't be call jkd it is now jun fan jkd becauase of the wrong idea.people are trying to do lees concept of jkd.jkd if it is for you,jun fan jkd if your train in the way bruce lee has it.

but it is impossible to copy that same concept just like if i was to have the same penis of you.there does that help people understand?

  • Stuck on wing-chun ?

  • Actually, in a street fight the attacker usually doesn't know all types of fancy shit. They'll usually throw a punch and that's why this is helpful. You just have to be ready to intercept. That's why Jeet Kune Do is the "Way of the Intercepting Fist."

  • put on gloves, use feints and pratice for real! They have got the moves and movent down pretty good so why keep doing the same?

  • whats the song called?

  • Amateurs.

  • Umm, I think you should understand that this is not a fight simulation. This is training, so when you see a right coming, you know how to switch the tide into your favor.

  • Delusional.

  • i practice keysi fighting method, and i want ot ask, is jkd really worth getting into? im keen to co-train it but need some advice really.

  • I do JKD and i think it's quite worth to learn it. I've seen a bit of keysi as well, it looks quite familiar to JKD, i like the incorporation of other arts, although i would disagree to the stance that they take by placing their hands up on their heads, in a real fight i would so not to that leaving me open. but i do see the benefits of it. I just don't think having that stance is realistic. it's abit restricting to my opinion.

  • how can you make your kicks quicker?

  • Leg exercises, and of course, training proper kicks.

  • Gotta agree.. The drills they teach are great for getting your body used to performing a certain task under high stress. But, in all likely hood you'll only pull off one to two of those combos not 4 or 6 like they are showing. Look up any street fight video and you'll see how the average joe fights, they swing their fists all the time, not just once.

  • I agree with shamanisgreat but Me also beaing a JKD practitioner I have made my body to where i can do all techniques with ease, once your mind and body are trained to do all things on command all moves are possible.

  • Nice lol XD

I'm a JDK practitioner and the 2 guys show many of good technics, but in real fight situation a lot of these technics will not be usable, too much time to do or too hard to use on the adrenalin.

  • I read the comments, then watched it. Still, I thought it was good. The interception was good. Keep in mind they are not actors, they were only demonstrating. At times they slowed down but its not an acting clip. Good knees were driven in where applicable, he gets fast at times. Overall, good I think.

  • looks very... scripted, like you knew exactly what was gonna happen.

  • ah they joy of guns. haha i still think this is a cool vid

  • slow very slow ! they looks 2 robots!

  • sweet

  • i love these b.s videos of a 5 0r 8 hit combo, like das gonna work on a tito ortiz or bass rutten, get real bro,you think bruce lee really did crap like dat???fake azz jeet kune do cats repping dat making jkd look wack!!!

  • yepp there newbies alright, i mean christs the guy in black is even tensing up muscles before impact´s even close? Christs!

  • another weak vid of drills that do not work against a well trained fighter lol crap

  • This video is very informative of jeet kune do drills and sparring.

The music was great. Reminds me of dream theater and some other of my favorite prog metal bands.

  • lol theres jkd and jfjkd

  • Try looking up Sun Kune Do

  • i took jkd. these guys are posers. poor technique.

  • Looks like it's been rehearsed. not fluid enough

  • rediculous

  • sifu marinello is the best thank you my friends...but don't you dream ciao

  • and now he tried to contact me in private...something never change... learn to speak and explain, i'm not scared...

  • look... yadomaster is a perfect example of what i mean... he's trying to threaten me....But please post your comments in english so everyone can understand your words and look at your behavior...

  • It's not that it's "Bruce Lee's" JKD, it's, broadly, JKD. There doing good especially if there self taught.

  • sick. bet those dudes could be bad ass breakdancers fo sho

  • WOW yall negative people need to shut up, they are praticing. Comment negative about something that u have experence with, untill then go away k thanks

  • dis guy can still fight regardless

  • it never ceases to amaze me how people can take the name Jeet Kune Do and make it their own people who never even trained with Bruce steal what he worked so hard to create. these are impersonaters booo

  • wot a laod of rubbish

  • 1:20-1:30 on the video was good, chi sau was too far away man you gotta get in close!and you 2 are a bit slow or was that to show of the moves?

  • Cheesey music and some nice staged dives LOL, I wish they wud show more aggression with the opponent.

  • good video, lots of nice techniques there.
