Since the line is no longer active there's no real point to keeping the bridge closed and leaving it turned allows the boats below to pass by unrestricted.
maybe they will reopen this eventually. That's what they did with the Arthur Kill Lift Bridge going to Staten Island New York just recently after being closed for 16 or 17 years.
We need to embrace our rail infrastructure and unused right-of-way in this country. There is so much of it out there and really is an excellent alternative to road travel and freight.
I know where a place is like that, I don't have a clue how old it is because nobody I know remembers a train going thru there. There is many trees growed thru the middle of the tracks, I one spot there is a tre the has grown so bit it has covered a huge peice of rail along with growing in between the tracks.
Cool. You said you would go back to film and you did! Some one asked me to film a building in Minneapolis, so thats what i'm working on now... Thanks for posting this to the Lowry bridge video.
The city's reasoning for it is that a lot of kids go there to smoke pot and drink, but the thing is if they don't do it here, they're going to do it elsewhere, because there's next to nothing to do around here.
Your friend's dad was a little crazy sounding lolol

Pretty sweet! Do you guys know which RR used to run the tracks? Get in there and do some M.O.W. work and rail ride it ;)

To prevent them from being a hazard to ships and boats.

Eh...doubtful...it's in pretty rotten shape. It'd be cheaper to just tear the whole thing down.
SomeCynicalGuy 3 years ago
oh bummer. that's too bad. How long has it been closed?

there is something about abondoned railroads that makes me sad, I'd love to be able to restore service to the line somehow.

Awesome, I grew up driving across this bridge. Glad to see they haven't torn it down just yet.

Lookin forward to it, sir! I'll have more to this as soon as I can pry it out of the file that won't let it go...

Awesome bridge. I love old stuff and hate when they tear it down. Old stuff should be preserved for the future to wonder at.

Dodging arrows? What the green hell?
You should take me to this bridge some time. I've never even been anywhere in Inver Grove, aside from Wal-Mart. =/
happyfinesad 3 years ago
This is only about half of the footage I have of the bridge. The actual pedestrian layer is pretty effin' sweet as well.

As I say; take me there, oh sweet prince of dilapidated bridges.

Whatcha up to this weekend?
SomeCynicalGuy 3 years ago
Nothing as far as I know.
happyfinesad 3 years ago
Maybe we could work something out. In the meantime, I've gotten myself drunk so I can get to sleep for work at 7AM...goodnight, sweet prince
SomeCynicalGuy 3 years ago
That would be super sweet. I still have your number from forever ago, not sure if you've got mine. Whateva.
I shall miss you on your journey to dreamland, adorable... princess?
happyfinesad 3 years ago
(morning after) Um....yes. And that's a negative on having your number.

Pfft. I see how it is. Well just message me on myspace or something then.
