The men who started, performed, and finished the rescue were off-duty Milwaukee Firefighter/EMTs. They are trained professionals who knew what they were doing both from a rescue standpoint and emergency medical aspect. There's a lot more involved in firefighting than "putting the wet stuff on the red stuff." There's much more to consider. These men were put in an extraordinary situation and performed to best of their ability, which was no accident. Professionals, in every sense of the word.

It's worthy to note that if the people would have cooperated it'd have been fixed a lot faster. How many times did they have to ask for a knife? There was a house only 10 seconds away; I'd have burglarized the house for a knife if no one was available; I'm sure the victims in the car would have paid any lawsuits that I'd have incurred.
I'm glad that I know not to rely on people during an emergency.
However, I'm praying that these heroes get rewarded greatly (and not materialistically).
No, I agree that the actual guys who saved the kids were amazing. I'm talking about the onlookers who randomly stared, hoping that there'd be an explosion (like the teenage girl who says 'you know, it's gonna explode soon').
