Np buddy, hey have you checked out a guy named Phil (solodalas)?Hes a ac/dc faaaareak lol I watch his shit all the time. Hes a angus superfan. scope em out
heh of course. Anyone that loves AC/DC winds up finding SD real fast on here. He's -THE- king of AC/DC on the tube. A real master. If I ever get to a point where I can really attempt to play Lead and not just Rhythm I'll be using his teachings heavily you can be sure. Just don't know when that'll ever happen.
@nothingbutrock666 guys guys guys, but sadly Fil "is not gone!!" He has his site up an runnin! if you dont know it email me! it wont let me post the link. unleash_da_beast_2006@yahoo.com
Don't have access to the box atm so can't look and give precise settings but as I recall the Drive on both heads is pretty high (for AC/DC anyway) and so is the Volume. I then adjust the actual output level so it doesn't clip into the PC. This allows the cabinet modeller to really crank up and give it that power sound while still having a clean signal to deal with in the recording package.
Thanks! Well I definitely think he would atleast like the effort at getting that rare (for them) over-powered tone they chose when they made it. I know they think it's not their best work because it was them doing it themselves but I disagree. I think it's one of their best, exactly because of how raw it is. The studio walls must have been bleeding when they were cranking out this album. It's just so different from their usual stuff and so awesome at the same time. Love it. A lot.
this is such a kick ass song. it just has that beat, and that tone, and that perfectness that just makes you want to turn the volume up. not a lot of songs do that.
That is so damn true. It's not your average "just another re-chew of old shit" like a lot do. And it stands alone in their lineup (to me anyway) as the most hardcore, raw grinding tone and beats they've ever done. This one and Send For The Man are some of the best speaker-smoking tunes I've ever heard. I've exited my Wrangler with my damn ears ringing really, really badly from this CD many times. 2500W + FOTW = instant 1man party on the road. Makes travel a lot less tedious :)
Thanks dude every time I hear this song the volume goes up, head starts bobbing and right foot pounds the floor like a jackhammer. Sign of a kick-ass song, but I may be biased! After all, AC/DC is the best band the world has ever known :)
As far as amp I use a POD X3 Live cabinet modeller and almost always, including this one, I create a dual channel (2 cabinets, 1 per channel) config. The cabs are usually a J45 and/or plexi / plexi jump lead '68 models and I tweak till perfect or close.
Dude i know it, Every time i here this song i get my SG and start playin it. My Amp never seems to go loud enough for this song. And yes my head bobbs also. Oh and thanks so much for the setting man! Sounds great. Dude you should do a tutorial.
Thanks one of my favorite tunes for sure. Well I don't really consider myself good enough to do a tutorial since I know next to nothing about technical aspects including chords and scales. If I did a tut it would be a poor-mans tut showing where I am, what I'm doing and when and how I'm muting with timing. It wouldn't be a proper "ok now go to chord bleh, then blah, then slide and change to chord blah bleh" since I don't actually know that stuff yet. Just need time, which I don't have atm.
check my channel for the link because it takes you ages to find the page. By the way, GREAT COVER, so rare to find a cover of this song on Youtube, totally under-rated Album.
Hell yes it's under-rated in a bad way not sure why. Maybe it's because it's so raw and un-refined since they did it themselves? Don't know but I friggin love it. Just hard-core raw blast and hammer which is rare for them. Probably the most distortion Angus has ever used on any album before or since. Send For The Man is my other favorite from FOTW another good example of (for Angus anyway) extreme tone.
I use an X3Live cabinet modeller and for all AC/DC songs I usually create custom dual tone (2 cabinets) using plexi and jump/leads 1968 as the base and go from there. I intensely listen to the song and try to get all the nuances I can to match, including when the sustain fades out, how the sustain sounds during its fade, roominess, grind etc etc. It takes awhile but I've gotten better at it and can some times really nail the tone down.
dude add me as a friend, im a hgue ac/dc fan too, my band does a crap load of covers, i was gonna post some bass covers since i can only play bass and rythym =\ but yeah rock on
Yeah I know it aint what you hear Michael on your original master, but shit man, compare this to anything else on youtube. Awesome mate!!. We are all playing with same tools and this is 1st class. :) I almost cut my pinky off with my secateurs whilst gardening on Sunday... so I am looking at 3 weeks playing clawman stlye!! Respect fella. I am still playing but it aint easy mate.!! Respect. I will post soon so hopefully we can be the claw brothers!! Rock on. Phil "the 2nd claw" :)
"...so I am looking at 3 weeks playing clawman stlye!! Respect fella..."
LOL! O U C H! Just watched Wired for Sound a Guitar Odyssey and see that Tony Iommi of Black Sabbath lost 2 finger tips on his fret hand (he's a lefty) in a machine press and made rubber tips with leather glued to them so he could play. Considering that, I reckon my meat-hook pinky is certainly easier to deal with then that! Been messing with Chase the Ace going to post it shortly.
Thanks Oliver worked real hard on the tone for this one. 1st time have had the SG volume knob at 10 too. Very sensitive had to be extra careful and sharp on the muting, but the pickups need to be wide open for this one to really get it scream-grinding. I'm SOOO so annoyed about them converting it to Mono even though I created a perfect Stereo FLV with their supposed supported params.
GOD that is annoying as hell GRRRRRRRR. Worked hard on the tone for this. The original version sounds pretty good. Thanks for the &fmt=18 info. Does come back as Stereo but YouBoob has still trashed it. The volume spikes and nasty static are just great... NOT. Damn it. Might have to see which sites allow realy, quality Stereo w/o screwing with it. If there is one then I'll move on. I work to hard to have it destroyed for no good reason. Anyway, thanks Phil I appreciate it.
Video was mysteriously converted to mono AFTER it had been posted and was available as Stereo and will likely be deleted until I find out WTF is going on. If youtube no longer allows Stereo then I reckon I'll be leaving. Mono is shit and I'm sick of it.
This song got an energy...That i keep trying , but i cant explain in words...
I got a guitar, i know how to play, still, is awesome turning up the volume and doing air guitar at this.
