did everyone come here because of tenacious D? you do realize they did nothing but insult the 3 songs that they used to compose their joke song, right?
@BGDD27 how could it be insulting? i love this piece and i also love Classico, and Jack Black is a musical genius and i'd imagine he has a lot of respect for these songs, therefore why he decided to use them in the first place
Just read that Paul McCartney based the tune for "blackbird" on this. He learned it as a kid so we have this to thank for the tune and picking style on "Blackbird", "Mother Nature's Son" and "Jenny Wren". Amazing really.
i also play fingerstyle covers of songs on my channel for anybody interested, i try and do CALIFORNIA DREAMING just like sungha jung does not as good (obviously) but i would still appreciate some feedback :P
i`m practising it using a gibson les paul its a bit tricky with the electric guitar as the smallest errors are very much highlighted,i have started learning it using electric i will switch to classic once i have one
@reamraving, Randy Rhodes "uses" this? I don't think "uses" is the right word, more like "adapts and models" this. Don't be telling people shit that's fake, he doesn't use this, he interprets this and makes it his own, name one song where he uses this exact lick in a song. Exactly, blam, I win.
why alll the arguing? This music is beautiful and deserves the right to be heard.Music is universal and has many different faces like the many different languages of the world. But Bachs music speaks to people as do some metal and rock.just shut up and listen.
You can't compare a composer to a guitar player. Slash just makes noise. Bach wrote wonderful, beautiful music that will be around long after your rock idols are dead and gone.
HAHAHAHAHA!!!! I hope your comment is a joke. Slash does not just make noise. You're probably thinking of something else like punk band. "slash just makes noise" and youre saying that with 2 cradle of filth videos in your profile? seriously? "Rock idols are dead and gone" Youre saying that like its a bad thing.(its not true either) And youre obviosly a metal fan. Damn, what a hippocrate.
You have to appreciate all forms of music. Classical has and always will be my first love. Metal is a close second. One suggestion, however, my little friend...spell check.
Dude, i told you off and you know it. quit trying to change the subject on whos spelling is better and who goes to the retard olympics or whatever the hell you said.
You didn't tell me off, you pointed out that I listen to metal. The two can both be enjoyed, but to compare Johann Sebastian Bach to a modern guitar player is insulting.
even if you ARE joking... how dare you make a mockery of bach and his music. Bach would quite literally would rip out dennis lee's eye...and piss in his eye socket if he had the chance. and i would help him.
Bach isn't supposed to convey any emotion, this is music in its purist, most distilled form; pure musical expression. Stravinsky famously said that emotion has nothing whatsever to do with music, and i think, to a degree, he was right.
I don't think I've missed something important at all; music is as relative as morality. Bach's occupation was a composer/musician. He was paid to write. He conceived of music as a craft, not as an outpourring of his soul.
The music of Bach is widel regarded for its intellectual power and beauty because of its 'robotic' qualities. The fact remains that this wasn't conceived as something emotional. But what's wrong with something without emotion? It is still deeply profound and beautiful music.
I don't think it has "robotic" qualities at all. Sure, its highly mathematical, and I'm sure Bach saw it as a craft, but if you can't see past the intellectual power to the emotion you are missing something.
This is music, not maths or science. Yes there is a science to it, and maths is used alot- but you have to remember that there is a human playing it, and a human wrote it.
It was not done by machines; it was done by humans. Humans have emotion- fact.
@dudefromutopia No, I was commenting on someone saying they thought it was robotic, and I was saying how it's kind of hard to put emotion visually into something when you're focusing on doing it correctly. I mean, it's not IMPOSSIBLE, mind you, but it's really hard. I was trying to defend the guy in the video! T_T
@funis2sk8 It was not robotic, that's your interpretation! Just because you fail to sense emotion in this particular rendition visually does not mean the musician is not experiencing such!
well sir, a musician is not supposed to "put" emotion within you, it is to inspire emotion that already exists in yourself. Have you been feeling robotic lately?
@funis2sk8, I know your comment is like a year old and you've probably changed your mind since then, but when I see guitarists playing baroque pieces straight forward it kinda shows me that they know what they're doing. I mean, that's the way music were played back then so to maintain the same feeling in the piece we don't add any crescendo or forms of more strength to the piece. To show that you like playing the piece you can add some personal fills to it, which you can see he's doing.
do it however you want....i'm so sick of people who want to play guitar but wont figure it out for themselves...just pick up you guitar and play..see what happens. you can't have people fuckin play for you....ok so here's what you do. put your man suit on and play your damn guitar as best as you can.
That's not true, you need tips, for example, I used to play by my self and now I'm taking lessons and I'm correcting a lot of mistakes I used to have. There's a proper way to play guitar and sometimes it differs from the way that turns out most comfortable when you pick it up for the first time. One thing is just playing a few chords and saying "look at me, I can play" and another one is playing it for real.
Figure it out. Everyone is going to play it different ways. Basically whatever is comfortable for you. Very overplayed song, but it sounds good and people recognize it. It's a pretty important part of any classical guitar players arsenal.
Thank you for playing this piece at the tempo it was designed for. So many just try to play it as fast as possible and the slower tempo really helps to bring out the musicality.
