the Son Jarocho from the Carribean state of Veracruz Mexico has strong influence to this music style Kora that part of Mexico had a lot of West African slaves . just look up Son Jarocho or La Bamba and you will see what i mean .
By far among all the Kora Players I have listen too thus far: from Senegal, Mali, Burkina, the Gambia and Guinea by far Lankandia is the most authentic and traditional – he does it the right way - the voice, the hum, the tone etc…. The tradition is right on the money - the Real Mandingo Nobles, The Traditionalist, The King of Gabu The “Honorable KING KELEFA” and his entourage would be very proud indeed. .
Saw this man in Grand Central Station...me and another person were just listening to him play for a while. Then I had to get on a train but I wish I didn't have to. He's soooo good!
For all who may be interested in owning one of these beautiful instruments , we have koras for sale at our ebay store (just search kora in ebay) , check our feedback for reaction to buy in confidence.Cheers! Nick and Fatou
What an amazing voice this guy has. And doing the kora that well at the same time. Wow.

@oaklandlatinosunited Yes indeed, a lot of people don't know that La Bamba was an African slave song.

it couldn't be easy playing an instrument with 21 strings, yet he plays it with such ease. love the use of his voice, which is very soulful. Bravo!!
