She really chose the right song. She had the best opportunity to sing with Tony Bennett. I love the beat. Fantastic. :)

The judges screwed her with the judges pick song. By giving fat country girl a perfect and mass appeal song like "Hope You Dance" and sticking Haley with the angry Allanis Morressette loser of a song, they f'd her out of the final two. All along, Randy and Jennifer wanted her out. They finally got it done with that loser song choice as the final performance in top three show.

Haley didn't win because her fan base is older and don't know how to vote like the younger fans of Scotty and Lauren  - they probably voted thousands of times each for them while Haleys fans prob stopped at 20 votes - there is no way to know but I think Steven is right in saying you have to find the singer first then worry about what kind of record they will make. Idol was pushing for Scotty because he's in a specific genre - still doesn't mean he will see success of like Carrie Underwood

Her voice is suitable for jazz music than pop music. She have very sultry voice for jazz. She can be very successful in that stream.

Personally I have no problem with Scotty being the winner but I think Haley and Scotty should have been the top two with Haley coming out the winner, Scotty will do well with or without idol whereas Haley needed that break, Lauren, sweet as she is couldn't make up her mind on what kind of artist she needs to be while Scotty and Haley remained true to themselves as artists. Why America couldn't see that is the question.
