  • Kathy Bates would make an excellent Dispair

  • Meh, I don't think they exude the characters very well.

I couldn't really see most of them portraying the personalities

and atmospheres that the characters have.

Angelina was an interesting choice though.

I find her the best out of these ideas.

She is talented enough to be cocky, sneaky and androgynous in personality.

I love Sandman...LOVE. I kind of hope that if they make a film,

it's someone who loves it as much, and maybe even uses no-name/unknown actors.

  • Tori makes sense because Delirium was inspired by Tori Amos, although she is a lot older now.

  • What if...

    Destiny... John Hurt

    Destruction...George Clooney

    Death... Emily Blunt

    Dream... Adrien Brody

    Delirium...Tori Amos

    Desire... Famke Jansen

Dispair...Well, you can use any good any good sized grandmother. Of course, with the adding of makeup and a really depressing attitude.

    What do you think?

  • @rayote82 It's not that bad actually. I wouldn't dislike your cast. But I'd stick with Johnny Depp as Dream. Maybe Katie Mcgrath could play Death IDK.

  • @lunaticpathos I couldn't agree more. don't get me wrong, I just love johnny depp, but to me, it's just obvious he's NOT MORPHEUS. i don't think he can pull off that silent, icy, yet still disturbed look without looking nuts. and if morpheus looks nuts, then all the character is just lost.

liked the choice of emily for death, but at the same time i think she should be rose walker. for death, i would think someone like summer glau (NOT helena bonham carter)

  • You were spot on with Dream, Death, Delirium/Delight, and Desire. I was especially impressed with the Delirium pics.

However, what were you thinking on Destiny, Despair, and Destruction? Arnold Schwarzenegger doesn't even have a beard or red hair like Destruction, and Despair female >_<

  • @MrIronJustice I've put on the description box that I was kidding here on my choices for these three xD You should have read it ;D LOL The main reason is because I really couldn't think of none good enough to play these three, well, but as I said, to the role of Destiny any good actor coul do it, I would choose maybe Al Pacino or someone like him...

  • @nathfairy Ah right on, I should have read that before I commented. BTW, Gaiman said actor Brian Blessed was the inspiration for him, so I'd imagine he'd be pretty good.

  • yes! tori as ponderful delirium.. she so much has her mouth and eyes, when i first read them i was like... obvious much? and it turns out those two have loads of references between their work... also, why not just have neilhimself play the original scary trousers? he already has the crazy hair and cheek bones..

  • I like thee choice for death, but not for most of the others. Depp would be too predictable. Maybe Amos too-someone younger for delirium.

I make sandman art and jewelry from recycled comics.

Pls check out my profile or go to etsy and search puzzles and Sandman

If I could post a photo here I would, but I cant figure it out

  • Bollocks.

  • I want Criss Angel as Dream. Not Johnny Depp. Blah.

  • I guess Johnny Depp is pretty much meant to be Dream, but talking about this with a friend this was our cast: jim caviezel=Destiny; Elizabeth Hurley=Death; angelina jolie=Desire ^^ ; dacota fanning=Delerium, and Rainn Wilson=Matthew voice, just wanted to share, i like all this cast a lot too, for director i wanna see peter jackson or sam raimi, take care ^^

  • Christopher Lee as Destiny

    Zooey Deschanel as Death

    Adrien Brody as Dream

    Gerard Butler as Destruction

    Adam Lambert as Desire

    Judi Dench as Despair

Dakota Blue Richards, Dakota Fanning or Callista Flockhart (if only she were younger) as Delirium

    What do you guys think?

  • @jeremygui i always thought that Adrien Brody as Dream would be.. close to perfect. It's like his look and tone really fit.

  • siouxsie sioux is death. marie fredriksson as desire! lisa gerrard as delirium

  • I personally like the idea of Angelina as Desire, she does look androgynous enough. I think that Liam Neisan would make a good Destiny, and I'd LOVE to see Natalie Dormer as Death.

  • wow I've never noticed but you're right, dormer would be a lovely and great Death. she got the look and the talent. it's such a good choice.

  • what an awesome ideas you have!!!

  • Emily Browning is a great choice for death :D. Arnold would definitely destroy the movie, tough.

  • yeah I think so. I always pictured her as Death when I think about a Sandman's movie. And yeah, arnold was just a bad joke lol he has the look but he sucks as an actor. thanks 4 comment

  • i have been a fan of gaiman since 88 when i read good omens.the sandman series is still awesome..i still have my figurines of dream and death :) thanks for posting, very nice vid!

  • Actually, Neil Gaiman talked about his "dream cast" for a Sandman movie.

He said Tori Amos as Delirium, Annie Lennox as Desire, Wynona Rider as Death and Sean Connery as Destiny.

Annie Lennox was one of the people that inspired Desire's character but Angelina would be flawless as Desire, without a doubt.

  • Deep a sa Dream ? NO ! I like him but i have seen his face waaay too many times recently.

Why not Adrien Brody - he has this strange angular face, has the skills ... anyone but NOT Deep (by the way - Deep is too short ;))

  • When I heard a few years back that Gaiman was considering a movie I started thinking about the cast. At the time Andrea Corr seemed the obvious for Death. She's too old now. Vikki Blows, (if she can keep her clothes on ), was born to be Death. My joke pick for Morpheus would be Howard Stern LOL!!! I like your picks..thanks for posting this... Cheers!

  • Gah, why does everyone immediately think Depp for Morpheus. I don't dislike Depp, and he has the right look, sure, but I don't think he has the right attitude for Morpheus.

Then again, maybe what I'm disliking is Tim Burton's recent directing, not Depp's acting. He's just too.. loud in his personality.

  • well I don't know, I really like tim burton's directing, but it's not the point. I think Depp is perfect for Morpheus. come on, he's a great actor, he can do anything, even Morpheus. Great actors change personality and attitude when they're acting, so I think he could do it perfectly. I can't think of anyone else playing Morpheus. And he really has the right look, it's incredible. well, that's just my opinion.

  • Thanks for the response, ion the lighter side I just reminded that I recently saw The Movie Stardust, and it was great. Michelle Pfeifer, particularly , and the guy who played the hero of the story were actuallt good, the gals ( help me with the cast9, that played the angel, and teh girl the hero left in the town did a great job, surprisingly Robert e Niro did jus a n ok acting, but his role was a minor one. I a am a conversed they can make a good Sandman movie ( Zack Snyder out please).

  • First i Hope the Sandman movie never gets made. Adaptationof great Comics V for Vendetta, Watchmen to name a few are really bad, they dont capture the essence of the story ment to be told. That being said i liked your video , if thay go for the bucks and make a movie ( a Series of Movie would be better), the Guy playing Green arow And Arnold cnot be ther they Dont know how to act. I mean Destruction could be Brian Denehey, and Destiny John Malkovich.

  • yeah I agree with you about destiny and destruction, it was just a joke 'cause I don't really know who should play them. but hey I think they should make a sandman movie if they make it seriously, do u know what I mean? now-a-days we have technology enough to make a great movie adaptation for sandman but it have to be carefully made. and I agree with you, it would be much better as a series of movie, it's impossible to make just one, I guess. thnks 4 comment :D

  • Johny Dep as Sandman? I disagree wholeheartedly. The rest besides the obvious jokes are good. That last one was a joke right?

  • I love teh idea of johnny as sandman I think no one could do it better. but it's just my opinion. of course the last one was a joke LOL a big fat joke xD

  • i believe adrien brody would be a good sandman

  • Kiera Knightly would make a cool Death, Tilda Swinton or Angelina Jolie would well for Desire, both being very beautiful people, but Jolie would be a farther stretch for that gender neutral quality necessary for Desire. Gerald Butler would be a cool Destruction. No Arnold thanks.

  • Depp would have the acting ability to play the role, but I'm not so sure he'd be old enough to play Morpheus. David Bowie might be able to pull it off.

  • I couldn't agree more. Tori Amos IS delirium in a kind of way, she must to play her, maybe they could do this "benjamin button stuff" lol, well, I hope so, she's too perfect. and yeah Johnny is the perfect sandman for me, for many reasons. He's a great actor and he could do it well.

  • aaaggh Johnny Deep is not the sandman of my dreams for many reasons, the others are perfect, specially death and despair

  • oh, why not? I reckon johnny would be a perfect Sandman :D thnks 4 watch

  • I'm not sure who I'd cast as Desire, actually-- because, I mean, Desire is sexy, but also sex*less*. There are some androgynous actors/actual orientational androgynes who could work the role, but none of them would exactly be big name actors, y'know?

  • yeah I get your point, but I think if they could make angelina looks androgynous, it would be perfect.

  • If they could I do agree she'd work well-- being that you'd have to search pretty darn hard to find anyone, man or woman, who isn't a little attracted to Angelina Jolie-- but it seems like the whole role is already so heavily weighted by fans in the female direction that they ignore the masculine aspects as well. :: goes off on a little Angelina Jolie-induced reverie ::

  • yes, I agree. it's important to notice the masculine aspects because Desire have no gender. Think in Desire as just woman is a mistake, right. but I think angelina is damn pretty and she is a good actress, then maybe...I don't know.

  • Oh God, I'd love it if Emily played Death, or any movie based on something by Neil Gaiman.

    Emily + Neil = WIN

  • yeah she would be my first choice for death, EVER.

  • really cool video

  • thanks a lot ^^
