Insuring an RX7 is surprisingly cheap, most likely cheaper than a Z. There are such small numbers of rx7s on the roads, which leads to cheaper insurance.
I don't really care what car pulls more chicks, I'm buying a sports car for the enjoyment of driving a fast car. If you're buying either of these cars to pull chicks, I'd be deep disappointed.
I'm not hating on the Z by any means. But if these two cars are compared performance wise, the RX7 will always come out on a top.

Granted the FC generation doesn't come factory with the 20b, the motor would still be stock. And I would definitely take any rotary motor over a V6 any day of the year, the Wankel Rotary's design is brilliant and beautiful on how its internal work and perform compared to any Inline or V-block. But don't get me wrong, I still drool over Mopar and Chevy big blocks.

My room mates own a 1997 Eagle Talon that kills Honda's and V-6 Mustangs, Camaro's, and Firebird's, but they've got more work to do before they can take on V-8's. I'd bet $2,000 because that's what I'm using to get the FC.

Actually a buddy that works for insurance company says Older cars like Rx-7 cause more to insure cause usually it kids that drive (what he classified as a sports car) usually there in a high risk bracket for accidents 18-25 age group. 2. there usually are not married 3. Usually male drivers under 25 years of age. 4. Older cars are more prone to mechanical failure due to age. Down here it would cost me just as much a 350z full coverage, just another perspective.
Realistically, maintaining a car will decide how long it will last. The main reason why these cars blow up is because of the HEAT. There have already been fixes to this, buy a water/meth injection kit, buy an accurate temp gauge, and a proper ECU tuning. You will be fully able to prevent detonation if you just maintain and pay attention to your car.
I don't know why you brought up turbos, not many stock mazdas were turbod. Only one model of the FC came turbo, and stock FDs came TT.
That "fixed up piece of junk" is pretty much an icon of racing history, the Z will never live up to the accomplishments of the RX7. Which IMO is much more desirable than a car that every wannabe racer drives around, I probably see 20 350z a day.
Modding an FD is relatively cheap, maintaining the cars are expensive. Talk all you want about HP numbers and whatever, the RX7 isn't a drag car, was never meant to be.

@i3lack0ut The amount of revs a rotary can do is only partially what makes it great. It doesn't matter what car or engine you use it boils down to 3 things. Power, Weight, and the Driver. In any race scenario the car with the better P:W ratio is going to win unless they are a shitty driver. In this case the FB was the better driver and had the P:W to go along with it.
@pinoyraver1679 - even then I'm not so sure. I much prefer the earlier 240z shape. The 370z shape is an improvement but still looks too heavy and fat.

Let's compare performance, since you're able to spend 10k-15k, I'm going to compare the FD with the 350z because they are in the same price range.
Probabaly one of the purist sports cars to come out of japan, the FD pretty much spanks the Z stock for stock.
"Baddest tuner cars like the GTR" is just an opinion, I personally enjoy driving a car which actually takes some skill to drive

@i3lack0ut The amount of revs a rotary can do is only partially what makes it great. It doesn't matter what car or engine you use it boils down to 3 things. Power, Weight, and the Driver. In any race scenario the car with the better P:W ratio is going to win unless they are a shitty driver. In this case the FB was the better driver and had the P:W to go along with it.

@pinoyraver1679 - even then I'm not so sure. I much prefer the earlier 240z shape. The 370z shape is an improvement but still looks too heavy and fat.

nope, he has 95 cosmo 13b-re swap. 480rwhp 440 lbs-tq at 20psi on pump gas. and he was aiming at over 500 on c16. but its been a while .... no updates.

hahaha do u know what is funny i have a s5 rx7 with 514hp @ 24psi and ive raced my friend who has a worked as 350 with a gt35/40 turbo on it with about 500 horses and it had no chance of keeping up with me we raced like 3 times everytime i just took off and left him for dead, its the rotor, piston engines just cant keep up for shit. plus 350z's are the heaviest cunts out, just admit it the rx7 smashed it to pieces and will unless u spend over 50g's purely on the engine alone
