Long before Flash existed, I made a countdown clock for movie sync that went pretty much like this one, except that the inner portion looked like some sort of snowball with the landscape, weather, season, etc. changing every time it went around (every second). It was drawn pixel-by-pixel and animated on DeLuxe Paint running on a glorious Amiga 1000 ! Long nights....... Pity I lost the backup file after selling it..
The Polar Clock is an absolutely beautiful piece of graphical simplicity, though I'm not sure how good it would be as a screensaver, as some of the rings can be quite bright and I'm sure they'd burn after a time. I might have to try Kaddag's idea of having it on a monitor, sync'ed with Big Ben, for a NYE party, though unless NYE happened to be a Sunday the 'day' ring wouldn't return to the top (and BTW, I believe you can set the first day of the week in the options for those arguing it out!)
Here in Brazil the first day of the week is Sunday too. But we have no problem remembering that, since the other days are named "Segunda", "Terça", "Quarta", "Quinta"and "Sexta" - literally "Second", "Third", "Fourth", "Fifth" and "Sixth". Saturday is "Sábado", which I suppose comes from "Sabbath" or something.
I sorry you are from a strange land where weeks start on sunday, btw in the bible god created the earth in 6 days and rested the 7 day or something like that and that day is sunday, so the 7 day of the week is sunday, and then the first is monday. i'm not a christian but the week start on monday!
@slickproductionsnewg Says who, Man created the name for the days. So whos to say TUESDAY isn't the seventh day? Either way I keep every day holy too just be on the safe side
I was watching this screensaver with friends during the last seconds of last New Year's eve -- it was our countdown. All the strips were reset and we celebrated the new year's coming. :)
Cool screensaver...not so cool clikity-clakity-clikity noise of your camera trying to auto focus......maybe switch to manual and get a steady shot of monitor, no need to zoom in and out like that. Cool saver none the less!
what the fuck is that noise!?

Can't that matter kinda depend on the region?

IN this example, the first day WAS Sunday. The last (7th) day was the Saturday, the Sabbath. Not Sunday.
