Love there new album LOVE. Can't wait for the tour on March to April. I have to say though, they sound pretty shitty live. The background music behind the vocals sound like random guitar chords. They sand way better in the studio because they have all that techy stuff behind the playing.

Don't be fooled. That performance, like most officially released "live" tracks have a lot of "dubbing" over the tracks. Guitars and his vocals are recorded in studio, or elsewhere and dubbed over the live performance. Probably to cover up his less-than-steller live playing/singing capabilities.

Tom was very much influenced by U2 in AVA's first album. if you listen to the flanger effects on the guitar while he uses palm muting and a delay it sounds almost identical to many of U2's songs. He didnt change his writing at all, but even tom himself said when asked "tom whats a record you could not live without?" He answer "the joshua tree, by U2".

Both of you are right though. Just because it's added effects doesn't mean he wasn't influenced by Blink. Most of his new songs are using the same tabs/chords as his previous songs just with added effects. (Everything's Magic = Anthem Pt. 2, Valkyrie Missile = Rock Show, It Hurts = Story of a Lonely Guy, A Little's Enough = I'm Lost Without You) If you play guitar, or look at the tabs, you'll understand.
